Chapter 24: Defend the Carrot XIV

An Suisui nodded solemnly and, taking another player with her, rushed to the boss battlefield.

At this point, the turtle boss and the brown bear boss at the southwest spawn point were nearly unstoppable.

One boss attacked, the other defended. Whenever one boss was under attack, the other would immediately step in to help. With too few players, it was hard to mount an effective counterattack.

Jian Shi spat out a mouthful of blood—he’d just been grazed by the brown bear’s attack when he failed to dodge in time.

His eyes flickered with uncertainty, lost in thought.

When An Suisui arrived with reinforcements, the two players already at the southwest battlefield finally breathed a sigh of relief.

These two bosses were just too cunning. After quickly assessing the situation, An Suisui made a decision.

“Jian Shi, you hold off the giant turtle. The rest of you clear out the small monsters. I’ll go give that brown bear a little present.”

Jian Shi wiped the blood from his mouth and gave a wry laugh. His massive scythe came crashing down, pinning the turtle’s shell in place.

He knew exactly what An Suisui was about to do.

He was well aware of the items she had—he’d been waiting for her backup.

An Suisui glanced around. Instead of attacking the brown bear right away, she found a medium-sized wild ox, killed it, and skinned it.

The black gloves on her hands were a drop from fighting scorpions, and their special effect was scorpion venom.

An Suisui was now a true poison master.

She killed the ox, sliced the meat into thin strips with her long knife, making sure the poison on her gloves was spread throughout the meat.

While she was preparing the meat, she noticed the brown bear’s gaze lingering on it several times.

Bears are greedy omnivores, and the bloody smell of fresh beef was a powerful lure.

Several times, the brown bear couldn’t resist the temptation and started toward An Suisui, but was quickly called back by the turtle’s desperate roars.

Once the meat was ready, An Suisui dragged a bloody ox leg over and tossed it near the brown bear, then pretended to be distracted by the turtle and moved away.

At An Suisui’s signal, the players deliberately ignored the brown bear, focusing all their attention on the turtle and giving the bear a sense of safety.

The brown bear circled the meat, finally unable to resist.

It figured the turtle was tough enough to hold out, so it could eat first and help later.

So the brown bear bent down and devoured the poisoned beef in a few bites, then charged back at the players.

But the players were ready. They didn’t fight the bear head-on, instead using kiting tactics to keep it under control.

The brown bear, furious, wanted to charge in for a decisive battle.

The turtle’s roars pulled it back to its senses, and together they slowly advanced toward the carrot.

Just then, more players arrived to block the bosses’ advance.

With the turtle pinned down, the brown bear naturally took the lead in attacking the players.

But this time, the players didn’t dodge—they charged straight in.

The brown bear scoffed. These prey weren’t even as thick as its legs—hardly worth eating—yet they dared face it head-on?

The one charging in was An Suisui.

She used her lightning speed to dodge the small monsters and slashed her sharp blade at the bear’s forehead.

The bear tried to swat her away, but suddenly its paw went limp—it couldn’t even lift it, let alone attack.

Its huge eyes widened in anger, and it let out a furious, unwilling roar.

An Suisui’s blade plunged into its skull, draining the last of its health bar. The brown bear finally collapsed.

The whole process was quick—the turtle didn’t even have time to help before the bear was down.

Even as it died, the bear never realized that for a long time, even though the players hadn’t attacked it much, its health had been dropping rapidly and its reactions had grown sluggish.

With one boss down, the other was much easier to handle.

Once both bosses were defeated, the players finally had time to clear out the swarming small monsters.

After about ten minutes, the number of monsters dropped to a manageable level, and suddenly, an urgent call for help came from the northeast spawn point.

A new boss had spawned.

An Suisui flexed her sore wrist, grabbed Jian Shi’s sleeve, and ran.

“Hurry, hurry! Duan Qingyang’s group can’t hold out much longer!”

Jian Shi shook his sleeve free. “They’ll have to hold on a bit more—I’m about spent. If I go now, I’ll just be cannon fodder.”

An Suisui glared at him, puffing out her cheeks until her face looked like a soft dough ball.

The more Jian Shi looked, the more he wanted to poke her.

An Suisui pulled two stamina potions from her bag, drank one herself, and threw the other at Jian Shi, wishing she could knock some sense into his chatty head.

“You’re the one who talks too much! I’m the one who’s exhausted!”

She was supposed to be a speed-type player, but she’d ended up as the team’s healer—so annoying.

She hoped the next game wouldn’t be a team event. She wanted to be a proud lone wolf, not everyone’s mom!

When An Suisui arrived, the two players guarding the other area were in bad shape.

They were facing two powerful bosses: a crocodile and a rhinoceros.

But they were clearly outgunned, forced to retreat under attack, barely able to hold the bosses back.

Luckily, An Suisui arrived quickly with strong reinforcements, and they managed to regain control.

Yu Cang, panting heavily, hid behind the group and finally had time to use a stamina potion.

Just now, he hadn’t even had time to take medicine and was nearly gored by the rhino.

If he’d been hit, he’d probably be dead.

The crocodile and rhino were both strong attackers. While they didn’t have the perfect teamwork of the turtle and bear, two powerful bosses were still a huge problem.

The fight was tough.

But An Suisui had learned from the last battle, so this time it wasn’t as hard.

The crocodile had poor stamina, so when the time was right, she blinded it.

Jian Shi was even more ruthless—he chopped off the rhino’s nose, horn and all.

With their advantages gone, the two bosses were gradually subdued.

Before the players could catch their breath, the final wave of bosses appeared.
