Chapter 25: Defend the Carrot (Part 15)

The final three bosses appeared together.

They didn’t spawn at the points guarded by Jian Shi or An Suisui; instead, a new spawn point appeared between the southwest and northeast.

A lion, an elephant, and a giant lizard—three bosses slowly emerged from the spawn, their heavy steps crushing the players’ last hopes.

“This is just…” Yucang squeezed his eyes shut in frustration.

Two bosses were already hard enough, but now three at once? Were they trying to kill them?

An Suisui was just as exhausted, but she forced herself to think quickly.

The lion was an animal with poor endurance—its explosive power was strong, but it couldn’t last long.

The giant lizard was cold-blooded, sharing the common weakness of all cold-blooded creatures: fear of the cold.

In extremely cold environments, the lizard’s blood couldn’t circulate, making it sluggish or even killing it.

The elephant, though nearly perfect in every way, was so massive that it couldn’t make large movements. Sharp turns and steep slopes were especially difficult.

An Suisui slapped her cheeks to stay alert, then ran toward the three bosses, immediately notifying the others.

“Freeze the ground with your ice guns first—slow down the bosses’ advance!”

After giving orders, An Suisui pulled out the remaining construction cards from her backpack.

Since their fortress was already perfect, they hadn’t needed to use more construction cards, so these had just been sitting in storage, unused.

Now, these “useless” items became her greatest asset.

The open, flat terrain of the desert made it easy for huge animals like the lizard and elephant to chase prey.

An Suisui’s plan was to use the construction cards to change the landscape.

As soon as the elephant stepped out of the spawn, the flat ground ahead suddenly turned into a towering, steep slope, and the yellow earth beneath its feet was frozen by a blast of cold air—wet and slippery.

The elephant stumbled, nearly falling.

The giant lizard fared even worse.

The sudden cold made it extremely uncomfortable, and when it tried to escape, it found the icy ground too slippery to move, while the temperature kept dropping.

The two giant beasts were almost trapped in place, with only the lion managing better.

Using its agility, the lion quickly leapt out of the encirclement and charged toward its target.

Players rushed over from both spawn points and launched a fierce assault on the lion.

With their current gear, fighting a single boss as a group was no problem.

The lizard and elephant were stuck at the base of the icy slope, while the lion, having escaped, landed right in the players’ trap.

At first, the lion fought fiercely, matching the players blow for blow.

But as time went on, its stamina quickly drained, and its movements slowed.

The players seized the opportunity, swiftly finishing off the exhausted lion, then climbed the high slope to face the shivering lizard and the massive elephant below.

Although the two bosses were trapped, as long as they stayed together, the players couldn’t get close and had to rely on ranged attacks.

Aside from the ice and flamethrowers, the players had no other ranged weapons.

No matter if it was a long spear, short blade, or kitchen knife, nothing could reach the bosses from this distance.

Yucang scratched his head in frustration, muttering, “There’s nothing here—not even a tree. If we could just keep our distance, we could make some crude arrows and wear them down.”

An Suisui was also stumped, but Yucang’s words made her eyes light up.

There might not be materials in the desert, but she had some!

After fighting so many bosses, she’d collected all sorts of odd items that no one else cared about.

She immediately pulled out the pile of materials and showed them to the others.

“Anyone know how to make ranged weapons? See if you can use any of this.”

There really were materials?

Yucang’s frustration vanished as he circled the pile, marveling at the collection.

“Only you, An Suisui, would keep this stuff. If I’d seen it in earlier rounds, I’d have tossed it. You actually saved it all this time.”

Just look at this mess—snake skins, scorpion stingers, sheep horns, cow horns, turtle shells.

In previous rounds, tons of these items had dropped, but no one cared. Only An Suisui had bothered to collect and keep them.

An Suisui puffed out her cheeks, frowning at the pile of junk.

They had plenty of materials, but she didn’t know how to make weapons.

She’d never learned such a primitive skill.

Yucang tried to make a crude arrow, but the result was more like a child’s toy.

He shot it at the elephant, but it didn’t even scratch the skin—the elephant didn’t even notice.

An Suisui felt discouraged.

She’d finally thought of a solution, but was it going to be abandoned just like that?

They couldn’t just leave the two bosses trapped and do nothing.

If they waited too long, who knew what might happen—they needed to end the fight quickly.

Jian Shi, who’d been watching for a while, shook his head and sighed when he saw that none of the remaining players could make weapons.

They were all city folk, at best having fought in games.

No matter how good the game was, it was still unrealistic—fun to play, but nothing like real life.

Jian Shi stepped forward and tested the snake skin in his hand.

“With these materials, making weapons is no problem.”

He picked out some bones from the pile—each one had special properties in the game, and while they looked ordinary, they were perfect for making arrow shafts.

Under Jian Shi’s hands, arrows, poison darts, and other ranged weapons quickly piled up, and he even managed to build a clumsy catapult.

An Suisui was amazed—so these things could be crafted by hand after all.

At that moment, the two bosses below started to act.

The lizard, though cold, wasn’t completely immobilized and slowly crept behind the elephant.

The elephant couldn’t climb the steep slope, but it had its own method.

The slope was made with An Suisui’s construction cards, so it wasn’t very large or solid.

The elephant simply raised its massive body and, with a powerful stomp, crushed the slope beneath it, then began to climb over the broken rocks.

The earthen slope An Suisui had built was quickly being destroyed.
