Chapter 078: Cleaning Our Own Doorsteps

A cold wind blew, and Big Cover Brother, paralyzed with fear, began to sob uncontrollably. Overwhelmed with terror, he could only plead for mercy, deeply regretting why he chose to target this seemingly unassailable villa among many easier targets.

And this woman, a true devil incarnate, showed no hesitation in killing!

Gou Yi Tian was right—they were all twisted! Who else would plant traps with nails? Who else would set nets so elaborately? Who else would stockpile so many crossbows? And this woman, with a gun strapped to her waist, was she not content with her hoard of rice…

“Oh right, I forgot about two more in the pond and eight more outside.” Jing Shu turned to fetch a net and started poking around in the pond.

Under the bright villa lights, Jing Shu’s figure seemed almost demonic, her shadow stretching over the blood-red vegetables.

Big Cover Brother frantically banged his shackled foot, wishing he could chop it off and flee. As they say, once the golden hoop is on, you’re no longer mortal; you can’t indulge in worldly desires…

As the blood-drenched bodies were fished out of the pond, Big Cover Brother’s cries stopped abruptly. Jing Shu busily knocked off the fish sticking to the bodies with a stick, then calmly tossed the corpses next to Big Cover Brother, splashing him with water.

“The Fat Chicken, come and eat.” As she spoke, Jing Shu jabbed into the dirt with a shovel at each pit. Big Cover Brother could hear the squelching noises—those inside were surely dead beyond doubt.

A large chicken scurried over. After Jing Shu removed its spiked helmet, it began to ferociously peck at the bodies, quickly stripping them of flesh and fish alike.

Big Cover Brother’s mouth hung open as he watched half of Wang Qian’s body being devoured, exposing ghastly white bones. Li Rui was left with only his upper torso; his lower half was completely gone, now just a sieve thanks to the chicken’s pecking.

Finally understanding the source of those sieve-like injuries on several bodies, Big Cover Brother vomited, his bile rising.

“No, she’s not a demon; they are all devils! I want to go home! Please let me go, I’ll do anything!”

The remaining seven or eight survivors, having witnessed this brutal scene, vomited and wept. They thought they had found an easy target, believing that in this apocalyptic world, even the police couldn’t touch them—that they were invincible.

But today…

They encountered true devils. Devils who killed without blinking, whose fish ate human flesh, whose chicken ate humans, and whose owner was a murderous fiend. Even the apples were probably poisoned.

As their pleading turned into useless curses or groveling, Jing Shu lost interest in their words. She began to dispatch them one by one.

Whether they were dead or alive, she twisted their necks first.

As Big Cover Brother saw everyone else being killed, he stammered in terror, realizing his turn was imminent: “I-I-I can lead you to… to kill Big Sun… They’re in Building 2, with 15 people… and there are over 40 others scattered around…”

Jing Shu pondered briefly. “Why bother with all that trouble? Just lure those from Building 2 here.”

Big Cover Brother swallowed, his eyes darting around, “And what about the others?”

“Why should I care about them?” Jing Shu snorted coldly. If others had stood up to these bandits earlier, she might have considered wiping them all out.

But since it hadn’t happened, she decided it was best if everyone cleaned their own doorstep.

Oh, maybe she could consider saving Wang Qizhen. She’d ask about his situation later.

After finding a phone among the bodies, Big Cover Brother, trembling, dialed the number. Watching Jing Shu sharpening her knife, he shook even more.

The woman frowned—very ferociously!

“Make it convincing,” she said impatiently.

Big Cover Brother’s voice quivered even more.

“Hello, Big Cover? How did it go?” Laughter and jeering echoed from the other end of the line, along with the groans of a half-dead woman.

“Success, of course, huge success!” Big Cover Brother’s voice trembled uncontrollably.

“What’s with your voice?”

Big Cover Brother burst into tears, prompting Jing Shu, who was on the verge of deciding to spare no witnesses, to give him a moment more for the sake of survival:

“Oh, Big Sun, not only is there an energy car here, but there’s also a pond full of water! So many fish, and an apple tree loaded with apples, and a hen, sob sob sob… I’m too excited.” The fish ate corpses, the apples were poisoned, and the hen killed—oh, how terrifying.

“Alright, keep everyone under control. Gou Yi Tian wants that woman. We’ll make the villa our headquarters and then take over house by house. No one will be spared.”

Big Cover Brother cursed internally, blaming this idiot for today’s demonic encounter, but managed to say, “Okay, hurry over and divide the spoils, and keep the others on guard.”

The call ended with a beep.

Jing Shu took the phone, searched him again to ensure no communication means were left, and opened the trap. Dragging him out like a small chicken, she tied him up and tethered him near the chicken coop.

Then, Jing Shu began tossing the bodies into the pits one by one. Once the entrance trap was reset and all arrows were collected, they turned off the lights.

The villa sank back into darkness. Jing Shu stood beside Big Cover Brother, her knife at his throat. “You know what to say later, right?” He nodded stiffly.

Footsteps approached, accompanied by the faint glow of phones.

“Is it here?”

“Big Sun, the woman is here,” Gou Yi Tian said excitedly.

Jing Shu nudged Big Cover Brother.

“Big Sun, is that you? Come on over! Everyone’s waiting for you!” Big Cover Brother shouted.

“What’s with that strong smell of blood?” Big Sun frowned, then thought of the probable casualties among the forty-plus men Big Cover had brought. But it all seemed too quiet, not their usual style.

Just as Big Sun felt something was off, Gou Yi Tian kicked open the door. “Big Cover, you kept that woman for me, right? If I don’t make her suffer more than Wang Xue Mei, I’m not surnamed Gou!”
