Chapter 21: Defend the Carrot (Part 11)

After receiving An Suisui’s hint, the player alliance finally discovered the sheepdog hidden among the flock.

This sheepdog was extremely cunning. It stayed hidden within the sheep, only revealing itself when it sensed conflict among them, rushing in to resolve disputes but never putting itself on the front lines.

Yucang was furious. That damn dog even knew how to play dirty tricks—wasn’t it the one that kicked him from behind earlier?

“Watch me kill you, you mutt! I’ll get revenge for my butt!”

He raised his weapon and attacked the sheepdog furiously, but the dog was agile, easily dodging and even counterattacking Yucang.

The mini-boss’s abilities were no joke. If Duan Qingyang hadn’t pushed Yucang out of the way at the last second, the sheepdog’s claws would have landed on him.

Yucang, shaken, finally calmed down and quickly thanked Duan Qingyang before jumping back into the fight.

He’d been so focused on the sheepdog’s cunning that he’d forgotten it was a mini-boss—he’d almost paid dearly for it.

After saving Yucang, Duan Qingyang fixed a cold gaze on the sheepdog.

The dog crouched low, growling threateningly, ready to attack at any moment.

Duan Qingyang was no slouch either. He’d always focused on honing his specialty, using every item to its fullest. While his abilities were a bit below Jian Shi and An Suisui, he was still far ahead of the other players.

The sheepdog feinted an attack, and Duan Qingyang baited it into lunging at him.

But instead of dodging, Duan Qingyang turned to meet it head-on.

Just as man and dog were about to collide, Duan Qingyang whipped out the ice gun from his waist and fired a freezing round straight at the sheepdog’s head, instantly encasing it in ice.

Knowing the frozen state wouldn’t last long, Duan Qingyang quickly drew his broadsword and slashed at the dog’s neck.

In its frozen state, the sheepdog was extremely fragile. With one powerful swing, Duan Qingyang decapitated it, instantly emptying its health bar.

The mini-boss was down.

Without the sheepdog, the antelopes became restless again and were herded by the players until the next mini-boss appeared.

Both spawn points were barely under control, and An Suisui kept the rear safe. This state continued until the boss of the fifth round appeared.

Once the boss showed up, the small monsters stopped spawning, though a few stragglers remained.

The fifth boss was a crocodile. Although crocodiles were now extinct and only existed in records, every player had heard of their fearsome reputation.

In terms of ferocity, they were at the top of the animal kingdom.

There was only one boss per game. After Jian Shi finished off the last small monsters, he rushed to the new battlefield.

An Suisui could finally leave the base to support the player alliance.

She was nervous for the players.

Hang in there, everyone.

Taking a deep breath, An Suisui moistened her throat and hoarsely relayed her strategy to the others.

“Crocodiles aren’t fast on land—keep your distance.”

“Wear it down; its stamina isn’t great.”

“Watch out for its mouth! If it bites you, you’re basically done for.”

“Aim for its eyes and nose. If you can, try to tie its mouth shut—then it can’t open it!”

A crocodile’s bite is powerful, but its opening strength is weak. If you tie its mouth, it can’t open it.

But that was dangerous and hard to pull off, so An Suisui didn’t insist.

She thought the best way was to exhaust the crocodile’s stamina.

Land wasn’t its home turf.

She pulled out her ice gun—against cold-blooded animals, low temperatures were the most effective weapon.

At this point, Jian Shi was on his way, and the player alliance was relatively weak.

The crocodile crawled toward the players, its huge, round eyes full of savage malice.

It had once been a top predator—few animals survived an encounter with it.

The players were intimidated by its massive size, slowly retreating to keep a safe distance.

The crocodile’s vision was excellent, day or night, and it could easily spot its target. But it didn’t see what it was looking for near the spawn point.

With a powerful swing of its tail, it accidentally smashed a huge rock to pieces.

Yucang felt terrible—he thought that tail swipe had just hit him, and everything hurt.

“How are we supposed to fight something this big?” he muttered, not even daring to look the crocodile in the eye.

Duan Qingyang gripped his blade. “Didn’t An Suisui say its stamina is bad? If we wear it down, we can kill it.”

Yucang rolled his eyes, wanting to say, “Just because An Suisui said it doesn’t mean it’s true,” but he had to admit, her advice always pinpointed the key to survival.

When the crocodile’s gaze locked onto the players, their scalps tingled. Thank goodness An Suisui had already moved the carrot—if the crocodile had crawled to the original carrot spot, none of them would have dared stop it.

Too fierce, too terrifying.

An Suisui and Jian Shi finally arrived. She leaned on a rock, panting, but still quickly issued orders.

“Crocodile… crocodile, it’s afraid of the cold. Anyone with an ice gun, use it.”

The crocodile slowly approached. Jian Shi aimed at its nose—bang! The battle began.

The crocodile was strong, but this was land, and the players had the tools to counter it.

After a while, the crocodile’s stamina was finally depleted. The players seized the chance to launch a fierce attack.

An Suisui fired two poison stingers at its eyes.

With the cold environment the players had created, the crocodile was already sluggish. An Suisui’s surprise attack blinded it.

Blinded, the crocodile went berserk, snapping its jaws wildly.

But its stamina was already gone, and soon it lowered its head in exhaustion.

This time, it really was at the players’ mercy.

Yucang lay on the crocodile’s corpse, gasping for breath, thinking, “So this game takes both strength and brains. If you lack either, you’re dead.”

There’s just no way for ordinary people to survive!
