Chapter 108: Even Stealing from the Juniors

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

Underneath the mech, Pei Yu looked up at the two people inside the cockpit, who seemed to be chatting happily. He absentmindedly touched his own charming, handsome face and fell into confusion once again. “Why is it that that brat Wu Xingyu, with his cold, expressionless face, can still attract girls, while a good-looking, talented man like me can’t even meet a pretty girl?”

Beside him, Yuan An was also staring up blankly, wearing the same “questioning life” expression as Pei Yu.

But unlike Pei Yu’s narcissism, Yuan An was simply stunned into a daze.

Oh my god, their Third Brother actually reached out to help someone up—plus, the co-pilot seat! Third Brother never lets anyone into the co-pilot seat.

Even they, his little followers, didn’t get that privilege. Even Third Brother’s own father, the highest authority in the Empire, Emperor Augustus Lancaster, had been refused.

Once, the Emperor, who liked to joke with his son in private, tried to sneak up there, only for Third Brother to challenge him to a duel in the secret training grounds. As for the outcome… well, that wasn’t something little followers like them could know.

It was because of that incident that Yuan An realized the Emperor wasn’t as stern and cold-blooded as he seemed.

And Third Brother wasn’t some pitiful kid with a dead mother, a neglectful father, and scheming older brothers who bullied him all year round.

He was getting carried away. Shaking his head, Yuan An tried to find Yun He to gossip about Third Brother holding hands with a girl, but Yun He was already huffing and puffing, climbing up the mech.

Wu Xingyu poked his head out of the cockpit again, looking annoyed and impatient. “Still counting icicles down there? Hurry up and get up here.”

“Oh, oh, coming, coming!”

Yuan An didn’t dare delay. He quickly pulled Pei Yu along and started climbing the mech.

“Wait, wait, let me tie a rope first.”

Standing on the mech’s massive shoulder, Pei Yu was suddenly overcome by a sense of unease and called out to stop.

He pulled a thick rope from his spatial button, tied it around his waist, looped it around the mech’s neck, but before he could finish, Wu Xingyu, annoyed by his dawdling, simply pressed the mech’s start button.

Pei Yu, who was fixing his hair and planning to make a dashing exit:

“Ahhhhh—” He screamed like he’d seen a ghost.

The mech’s vibrations flung him straight out, and he dangled in midair from the rope like a kite. Any thoughts of hairstyle or cool poses were gone as the icy snow slapped his face, bringing him back to his senses.

Looking at the three people sitting steadily on the mech’s shoulder, tears of grievance welled up in his eyes.

He got it now—don’t try to be clever. Always ask your friends first; maybe they have some tricks for sitting on the mech.

A minute later, the mech soared out of the black hole in a heroic fashion, speeding straight toward Earth Village.

Just as they reached the village entrance, the mech’s energy ran out.

Yun Qimu gripped the handrail on the mech, turned her head to Wu Xingyu, and praised, “Nice calculations—arrived right on time.”

Wu Xingyu pressed his lips together, his expression calm. “Basic operation, that’s all.”

After speaking, he paused, turned to Yun Qimu, and slowly extended his hand. “We’re getting down. Need a hand?”

“I do, Xiao Yuyu, I need help.”

Pei Yu, still hanging outside the cockpit like a salted fish, looked in with a resentful gaze, his voice full of grievance.

Maybe his hair standing on end and snot running down his face was just too funny, because Yun Qimu couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “Hahaha, I can see you really do need help. Want a bottle of red potion? Only 20 spirit coins, thank you for your business.”

Pei Yu’s expression grew even more pitiful. He gritted his teeth and said, “No need. I only lost a point or two of HP, I don’t need a red potion, thanks.”

“Suit yourself.” Yun Qimu shrugged, disappointed at the failed sale. She slapped Wu Xingyu’s still-outstretched hand and grinned. “No need, I’m not some delicate young lady. I can get down myself.”

With that, she turned, nimbly opened the co-pilot hatch, and jumped.

Her body plummeted at first, but as she neared the ground, it was as if something caught her, slowing her descent until she landed gently and steadily.

Seeing her move, Wu Xingyu, startled, lunged toward the co-pilot seat to catch her, only to see the girl land as light as a feather.

He simply sprawled across the co-pilot seat, staring dazedly at his own hand, his beautiful face lost in thought.

He only snapped out of it when the salted-fish Pei Yu, still hanging upside down, started howling again. Wu Xingyu’s face returned to its usual icy blankness as he brushed Pei Yu aside and jumped down himself without a backward glance.

Watching Wu Xingyu walk straight into the village without so much as a glance back, Pei Yu was dumbfounded. He stretched out his hand in a melodramatic gesture and called out, “Hey, hey! What about me? Don’t forget your dear Uncle Pei, Xiao Yuyu!”

Wu Xingyu ignored him completely, following closely behind Yun Qimu.

He wanted to soak up as much good luck as possible.

Yun He, who had climbed up beside Pei Yu, rubbed his stinging ears and scrunched his face up like a bitter melon. “Uncle Pei, stop yelling. Since when has Third Brother ever helped anyone? If you offered him a hundred spirit coins per help, maybe he’d come back.”

Pei Yu choked, thinking about Wu Xingyu’s money-grubbing ways. So true to life!

But he still stubbornly argued, “Who says? I just saw him offer to help Village Chief Yun.”

“Ah, that’s probably because he wants to get some of her good luck. After all, Village Chief Yun is the luckiest person we’ve ever met. The unlucky always envy the lucky.”

That was hard to argue with.

Pei Yu thought about it for a moment, then let it go and turned to ask Yun He for help.

To avoid being deafened by his loud voice again, Yun He agreed.

He stopped climbing down, huffed and puffed his way back up, and pulled Pei Yu up as well.

Finally upright and no longer suffering from blood rushing to his head, Pei Yu came back to life. He grabbed Yun He excitedly and asked, “How did you guys manage to sit so steadily on the mech’s shoulder just now? Why didn’t you tell me? Aren’t we good buddies who share the same cabin?”

“That’s because you tied your rope too fast. We thought you could handle it, but turns out you couldn’t,” Yun He muttered.

Pei Yu bared his teeth. “Say it louder.”

“Oh, it’s because we have this—the mech’s handy magnetic patch. Wherever you stick it, you can stand. As long as you’re holding onto this, you won’t be affected by the mech’s magnetic vibrations.” Yun He took out a palm-sized, black object with a metal ring and showed it to Pei Yu.

Pei Yu’s eyes lit up and he grinned wickedly, snatching it away. “Good nephew, your uncle accepts your filial gift.”

With that, he wrapped a vine around the mech’s neck, grabbed the other end, and swung out like a monkey.

Yun He, left standing there:

He froze for three seconds before stomping his feet in anger. “Despicable! Even stealing from the juniors!”

Good night, good night~"
