Chapter 124: Marrying Off the Old Maid to You

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

“Hey, you guys are here to eat too?” Pei Yu greeted them with a goofy grin.

Seeing their gloomy faces and silence, he realized something was off. He could only let out an awkward laugh. “Uh, is there no more seating inside? Hahaha, good thing I made a reservation. Excuse me, everyone, I need to go in for my meal.”

The crowd instantly erupted. Pairs of angry eyes turned into looks of envy.

Next to him, a burly auntie, a head taller than Pei Yu and with a face full of flesh, suddenly lit up. She bared a mouthful of white teeth at him and shouted excitedly in a booming voice, “Young man, you look pretty decent! You’d be perfect for my old maid daughter. If you can get us two into Lou Wai Lou for a meal, I’ll marry my old maid daughter off to you, how about that?”

As she spoke, she dragged out from behind her a sturdy country girl who looked just like her—dark-skinned, rough-faced, broad-shouldered, and thick-waisted.

The girl twisted her fingers shyly, lowered her head, and threw Pei Yu a clumsy, rustic wink.

Looking up at them, Pei Yu’s face twisted in horror—he nearly vomited bile on the spot.

Emmm, she’s not even as good-looking as Ah Hua!

“Pfft—” Yun Qimu and the others, who had just caught up, happened to witness this domineering country girl trying to snatch an innocent young man. They couldn’t hold back their laughter.

Pei Yu looked at them, then at the auntie in front of him with a face that seemed to say “you’re getting a bargain,” and anger welled up inside him.

He shouted, “No need, I—I’m not worthy of your daughter.”

Pei Yu’s handsome face flushed red, but in the end, he didn’t dare to reject her outright.

But the burly auntie was even more satisfied with this “son-in-law” she’d set her sights on. “Don’t worry, son-in-law! My old maid daughter is famous in the tribe for being a good girl, but I don’t mind your skinny build. As long as you can earn spirit coins, you’re a good son-in-law to me.”

Pei Yu was miserable—no, he wasn’t, he didn’t, he liked girls with curves and a slim waist, not this sturdy country lass. Whoever wants her can have her!

Seeing the enthusiastic auntie about to grab his arm and force the deal, Pei Yu quickly shouted in panic, “I don’t have any spirit coins! I’m broke, I can’t even afford a little cabin. They’re the ones paying for the meal!”

The auntie’s smile froze, her face fell, and she looked in the direction Pei Yu pointed—right at Wu Xingyu and the other two.

Seeing her shift her target, grinning shamelessly as she tried to approach, Wu Xingyu shot her a cold, emotionless glance and said icily, “Your daughter’s so sturdy, just her size could crush a Mengji beast. I can’t handle that. You’d better find a son-in-law who can take the pressure.”

With that, he strode off through the path the crowd made for him, entering Lou Wai Lou under everyone’s admiring gaze.

His long legs and bossy aura left the locals stunned.

Yuan An and Yun He, both nervous and excited, hurried to follow, afraid they’d get dragged off to be someone’s son-in-law too.

Yun Qimu didn’t join the commotion, instead leading Yun Dad and Yun Little Brother into the restaurant from another entrance.

The dumbfounded auntie was left standing there. Three seconds later, she turned around, ready to hunt down Pei Yu to take the fall as her son-in-law, but alas, Pei Yu was quick—he’d already slipped away after pushing the “son-in-law” title onto Wu Xingyu.

“Where’d that brat go?”

The crowd burst into laughter, unafraid of her glare.

“Hahaha, Aunt Xiong, don’t get mad. The young man was right—your daughter needs a big guy. Those skinny fellas can’t handle her; she’d flatten them!”

“Yeah, Aunt Xiong, your eyesight isn’t great. You talk up your old maid daughter like she’s a fairy, but she’s been single for over a decade. I think you just like picking on these shy outsiders.”

“Hahaha, just keep your old maid daughter at home. Life’s getting better these days, no need to worry about feeding her.”

Aunt Xiong glared at them, waving her hand. “Go on, stop making trouble. My old maid daughter is wonderful! You people just don’t know a good thing when you see it, hmph.”

“Hahaha!”

Another round of laughter erupted. Pei Yu, already on the second floor, felt his scalp tingle from the noise. He didn’t even bother looking at the river view—he rushed to shut the window.

Back in his seat, he patted his chest, still shaken.

That was close—he’d almost lost his innocence to that country girl!

Yun Qimu and the others snickered. “Look at you! Why didn’t you just retort like Wu Xingyu did?”

Pei Yu pouted. “I—I was just being respectful to my elders and caring for women. If I’d snapped back, wouldn’t that embarrass the girl?”

Yun Qimu teased, “Then why not just agree to be her son-in-law?”

Pei Yu shook his head frantically. “No way! My future wife won’t look like that. She doesn’t have to be a peerless beauty, but at least she should be dazzling, with a slim waist, long legs, and a big chest!”

“Oh, you sure have high standards. Finding a wife won’t be easy for you.”

Pei Yu grinned. “Of course! But I’m not in a rush. Even my cousin is still single, so why should I hurry?”

“By the way, has my cousin arrived? Is everyone here? It’s almost time to eat.”

Speak of the devil, Mo Xie and a few little kids came up from downstairs.

With the kids arriving, the once-empty second floor became lively.

“General, you’re here to eat too?” Little Zhu Zhu bounced over happily.

Yun Xiaoyu, with her cool little face, replied, “Mm.”

Yun Qimu smiled and patted the little girl’s fluffy head. “You’re eating here too?”

Little Zhu Zhu nodded hard. “Mm-hmm! Auntie Song said her cooking is delicious. We ordered all seven dishes, and we brought Haru to eat with us too.”

Haru, holding a child, scratched his head sheepishly and greeted everyone, “Village Chief Yun, General, Mr. Yun, Young Master Wu, Young Master Pei, Young Master Yuan, Young Master Yun.”

“Mm.” Yun Qimu nodded in response.

She knew Haru had moved in to help take care of the kids, working as a babysitter in his spare time as a slave.

The kids knew how to share, often bringing Haru along for meals.

As long as he didn’t hurt the children, Yun Qimu turned a blind eye.

Now that the kids had brought him to Lou Wai Lou, it seemed Haru had really turned over a new leaf. Looking at the love in his eyes for the children, it didn’t seem fake.

Good night, good night~"
