Chapter 137: Ugly Freak

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

Pei Yu blinked his peach blossom eyes, a complicated expression on his face.

On one hand, he was gloating that this little brat Wu Xingyu had caught someone’s eye, with people scrambling to offer up their daughters to him. On the other hand, he was deeply aggrieved—why was it that the only ones interested in him were women like Ah Hua, with broad shoulders, a bear’s waist, and skin as dark as charcoal, while the ones after this brat were delicate, lovable noble ladies?

He was so handsome, his face right here for all to see, so why did that fat pig have to set her sights on the kid over there? Was she farsighted or something?

Beside him, Ding Huaxiong had already coaxed his daughter and was now carefully supporting her as they walked toward the bonfire.

Under the firelight, the flickering flames illuminated Wu Xingyu’s beautiful face.

His dark brows slanted upward, black eyes shining like stars, a high nose bridge, and a tiny red mole at the corner of his eye that glimmered in the firelight. Even with his expressionless face, his looks were enough to stun anyone.

Ding Rou, who had been indifferent and secretly disdainful, was instantly transfixed at the sight.

She quickly covered her mouth to stifle a gasp, then instinctively glanced downward to confirm the presence of an Adam’s apple at his throat. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief, her gaze lingering on Wu Xingyu’s face with burning infatuation and admiration.

Oh my god, there’s actually a man this stunning on this backward, rundown trash planet? She was so lucky—even a random guy here was at this level. Heaven was truly smiling on her.

At this moment, all of Ding Rou’s earlier reluctance vanished, and her face blossomed with joy.

Even Ding Huaxiong, standing beside her, was momentarily stunned by Wu Xingyu’s looks. But then he frowned, worry clouding his plump face.

This pretty boy looked like a young master from a noble family, but this wasn’t the outside world—this was the infamous Exile Star. Being good-looking here wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

Just like his daughter: it was because she was pretty that she’d been targeted within days of arriving in town.

“There, Xing-ge, there’s a fire over there.”

“Let’s go check it out.”

From the woods came the sound of chaotic footsteps and noisy voices. Soon, the beam of a searchlight swept toward the camp where Yun Qimu and the others had set up.

Pushing aside the grass and leaves, a group of menacing figures appeared before them.

Leading them was a lean young man with a scar on his right cheek, his eyes as fierce and cold as a lone wolf.

Behind him were six burly, broad-shouldered men, each with an unfriendly look, their eyes gleaming with a strange excitement as they glanced at Ding Rou and her father.

“Xing-ge, look, the little lady really is here.”

“Mm.” Dou Xing’s arrogant face darkened as he swept his gaze over everyone present, lingering a little longer on Wu Xingyu, a hint of wariness rising in his heart.

He gave a subtle signal to one of his men.

The burly man took the cue, scowling as he strode toward Ding Rou and her father, his booming voice like thunder: “Master Ding, Miss Ding, it’s time to come back with us. It’s late, and we’ve been at this long enough. None of the brothers here have much patience left. If you come with us now, you’ll suffer less. Otherwise…”

The threat was obvious, and the Ding father and daughter trembled in fear.

Ding Rou, her petite body shaking, mustered her courage and called out, “I’m not going back! I don’t want to be the bandit chief’s bride—I, I already have a husband!”

Blushing, she stole a shy glance at Wu Xingyu, her voice soft and trembling, “It—it’s him.”

Dou Xing and the burly man’s faces immediately darkened.

Their eyes grew cold as they glared at the pretty boy who dared to steal their chief’s woman.

But before their anger could erupt, they saw that the pretty boy’s face was twisted in disgust.

Wu Xingyu stood up, frowning, and shot a look of utter disdain at the affected woman. His voice was cold: “Don’t go making up stories. Who are you? I have no interest in marrying an ugly freak.”

Ugly… ugly freak!!!

Everyone present was stunned by his astonishingly sharp tongue.

Honestly, while Ding Rou wasn’t as breathtaking as Yun Qimu, she was still far from being called an ugly freak.

Even with her face dirty now, her teary eyes were quite moving, and her delicate figure was enough to make anyone’s heart itch. How was she an ugly freak?

And what was with this man’s look of utter revulsion?

Pei Yu started to believe that maybe this brat really was face-blind.

No one’s emotions fluctuated more than Ding Huaxiong and his daughter.

Ding Rou’s face went pale as she stared at Wu Xingyu in disbelief. How could she, such a pretty girl, be called an ugly freak?

Ding Huaxiong was so angry his blood rushed to his head, his eyes nearly popping out. “You, you, you brat! You’re just saying that to distance yourself from my daughter because you’re afraid of the Honglian Bandits, aren’t you? I misjudged you! You’ve hurt my daughter—Xiaorou, it’s—it’s all your father’s fault…”

Tears streamed down his face as he hugged Ding Rou, wailing in grief.

Ding Rou, like a delicate flower battered by the storm, wept silently, tears streaming down her cheeks as she cast a resentful glance at Wu Xingyu, her sorrowful beauty even more striking.

Her crying was even more captivating than her silence, making Yun Qimu seriously suspect she’d practiced it.

But Wu Xingyu was unmoved. As if overcome by a fit of cleanliness, he turned his face away in disgust. “So dirty. I don’t know what that bandit chief was thinking, picking such a filthy, ugly woman as his bride.”

Ding Rou choked, her tears caught in her eyes, unsure whether to let them fall.

Dou Xing and his men were at a loss for words.

Looking at Ding Rou’s tear-streaked face, she did seem a little ugly at the moment.

All seven of them wore the same expression, as if they’d swallowed a fly.

Then, by chance, their eyes landed on Yun Qimu beside Wu Xingyu. Whoa—now that was a real beauty under the firelight. Not just her radiant, delicate features, but also her dazzling, noble aura—she was a thousand times better than Ding Rou.

No wonder the pretty boy wasn’t interested in Ding Rou. Compared to the girl at his side, Ding Rou was like a firefly next to the stars.

No comparison at all.

Their amazement was obvious, and they stared for so long that Ding Rou couldn’t help but look over too. When she did, she was stunned by Yun Qimu’s beauty.

She’d been so focused on the handsome guy before that she’d assumed the woman next to him was nothing special. She’d thought that no matter how pretty a woman from Exile Star was, she’d never compare to a noble-born lady like herself. But now, seeing Yun Qimu, she knew she’d been wrong.

Ding Rou bit her lip, jealousy flickering in her eyes."
