Chapter 18: The Golden Pangu Axe

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

New grudges on top of old—Yun Qimu gripped a wooden bow in her hand, her eyes blazing with fury. No matter what, she was going to kill this arrogant golden-tailed one and stew it into soup!

“Whoosh—” The arrow left the string, fast as lightning.

But she didn’t expect that golden tail to flap and dodge with a sudden burst—far more nimble and quick than the other Danghu chickens—so the arrow that should have pierced its fatal throat only sank into its thigh.

The Danghu chicken shrieked with its neck craned high. Its beady eyes instantly turned blood-red, as if it had entered a berserk state. The whisker-like feathers on its face whipped wildly as it launched itself at Yun Qimu like a cannonball. Its sharp beak glinted with a cold, lethal sheen.

And because of that, Yun Qimu saw a health bar abruptly appear above the entire chicken:

253/300

At this moment, the bar was red-black, signaling that this golden-tailed Danghu chicken had indeed gone berserk.

Yun Qimu lifted an eyebrow. Now this was starting to feel more and more like the real deal.

In the blink of an eye, she raised her hand and yanked out the dagger at her waist. Clang! Sparks flew as she blocked the beak—sharp as chilled iron.

The shoddy dagger she’d stripped off that skinny assassin instantly had its edge rolled.

Yun Qimu flicked a cold glance at it, clearly disgusted, but still used it to battle the berserk Danghu chicken for three hundred exchanges.

When it came to close combat, she didn’t lose. Even if her body was weak, she lacked neither technique nor fighting skill. Back in her previous life, among the many geniuses gathered in the elite class, her practical combat ability ranked near the very top—she’d even been top 1.

It was only because her body was frail and her strength insufficient that, a few times, others seized on her weakness—gang-ups or endurance rounds—and knocked her off the number-one seat.

All told, she still ended up driving that battered, rolled-edge dagger viciously into the Danghu chicken’s throat, burning through its last two points of health.

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have slain the Berserk Danghu Mini-Boss and obtained 1 Silver Treasure Chest!]

A glint flashed in Yun Qimu’s eyes. So it was a boss chicken—no wonder it was harder to butcher. The only question was whether the meat would be even tastier.

She smacked her lips and walked over to the silver chest, reaching out to open it.

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 Plucked Danghu Chicken!]

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 Pangu Axe!]

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 bag of Strawberry Seeds!]

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 Strength Card!]

Another four-in-a-row.

It felt like the energy source in the core had been siphoned away again—its “water level” dropping rapidly—so much so that the main AI was so angry it nearly died on the spot.

What was wrong with this host?!

Why was her luck so good!!!

Meanwhile, Yun Qimu weighed the golden Pangu Axe she’d taken from the chest, her eyes shining.

The axe looked delicate and compact, yet it turned out to be a high-end A-rank weapon. Most importantly, it was an upgradable, growth-type weapon.

Value-wise, it had to be worth hundreds of millions—maybe even over a billion spirit coins.

But would the main AI, with its stingy, penny-pinching nature, really give her something this good?

Yun Qimu’s clear black-and-white eyes rolled as she spoke in a soft, touched voice:

“Main AI, I misjudged you. I thought you didn’t like me, but it turns out you like me so much you can’t help it—love in your heart, but hard to say out loud.

You even sent me this upgradable A-rank weapon… how embarrassing. I know I’m adored by all—flowers bloom when they see me—women can’t even resist my fatal, unstoppable charm, so I totally understand you liking me but being unable to say it, and deliberately going against me just to get my attention.

But now I understand your feelings. Next time you send me such a great weapon, you don’t need to do it in secret, all sneaky-like. You can give it to me openly.”

[Pah! Who likes you “so much they can’t help it”? How can you be so shameless?]

The main AI was so disgusted its system core was about to break out in goosebumps. It had been gritting its teeth in humiliation, but now it couldn’t hold back and exploded.

Yun Qimu wasn’t annoyed at all. Patiently coaxing, she said,

“Oh? Then why would you give me such a big gift? Be good—stop putting on airs. I actually like that tsundere little temper of yours, but if you can be a bit more honest, I might consider liking you a bit more.”

The main AI was furious—this was an insult to its “braincase.” Its core routines were practically on fire:

[Aaaah! You hopeless narcissist! If I could control it, would I give you a growth-type weapon? Keep dreaming!]

“Oh,” Yun Qimu said darkly, her tone low and eerie, instantly yanking the main AI back from the edge of rage, “so the drop rate from mobs isn’t something you can control.”

The main AI realized something was off and, aggrieved, immediately shut up.

But Yun Qimu had already gotten what she wanted. She continued, slowly analyzing:

“If the mob drop rate that let me get a growth-type A-rank weapon isn’t something you control, then that earlier ‘Lucky Gift Pack’ must be within your control—otherwise, with my unbelievably good luck, I wouldn’t have only gotten a Village Chief Token. I might’ve even drawn some S-rank-or-higher god-tier weapon.”

[]

Damn it—she really can dream big.

The main AI fell completely into silent sulking.

TUt. Finding a host who’s smart and capable wasn’t necessarily a good thing—she was practically peeling the rules bare.

Worst of all was the host’s bizarre fortune. If the energy source couldn’t keep up with her rate of “gacha,” it feared she’d drain it into a dried husk in minutes—no, into brain husk.

After waiting a while without hearing anything from the main AI, Yun Qimu smiled and stopped poking it. She walked over to the bronze chest she’d gotten earlier and opened it.

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 Small Wooden Sword!]

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 piece of Danghu Chicken Breast!]

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 Strawberry-flavored Popsicle!]

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 2 Spirit Coins!]

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 Strength Card!]

[Ding-dong—Congratulations, player! You have obtained 1 Agility Card!]

Watching the energy source dwindle bit by bit, the main AI burst into tears with a wail.

It hurt. It hurt so much!

So many years of painstakingly stockpiled energy—and at this rate, the host would blow through it until they all went down together.

The main AI hardened its resolve: if cutting spending wouldn’t work, it would have to increase income. As long as more people joined the game, it could get more energy.

So just as Yun Qimu was feeling pleased with herself, the system slammed her with a forced mission.

[System Forced Mission: Within three days, the host must successfully add twenty residents to Earth Village. Otherwise, lightning punishment will be inflicted, and physical attributes will be halved!!!]

Yun Qimu, who had been riding high:

Smile gradually disappears.jpg

She ground her teeth. Damn main AI—so it had figured she couldn’t bear to give up all this good food and drink right now, huh?

And her body was already so weak she was gasping every ten steps. If her stats were cut in half, she’d be gasping every five steps.

Alright—seeing this chapter, you must all like this story, right? Now I’m announcing the group number: Food Base: 285523516.
