Chapter 183: I’m Totally Henpecked
Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era
When she looked up again, there were several more eye-searing “pig heads” in the chaotic “competition” crowd.
Yun Qimu couldn’t help but twitch her lips in distaste and quickly looked away.
Ugh, these people only know how to aim for the face when they fight—no sense of decency at all.
All those handsome guys, now turned into pig heads!
Kui Hai was just as dumbfounded. “Uh…I’ve lived here for years and never seen this kind of competition show.”
Ying Hua frowned and pondered, “Could it be a new addition this year?”
Kui Hai glanced at her and his lips twitched.
His wife was so cute—she really thought there was some kind of organized fighting event here in Chaos City! Fights break out all the time; who needs a special program for it?
“Hey, goddess, you’re finally back!” From the chaotic crowd, Zhong Qiu clutched his little suona, squeezing out with the pitiful look of a bullied little wife. He scurried over to them, eyes shining like a puppy as he stared at Yun Qimu.
When she looked his way, his pale face flushed bright red with embarrassment.
Wu Xingyu frowned, shooting him a look of displeasure.
Always blushing and acting all shy—where’s your manliness?
Yun Qimu pretended not to notice, still smiling calmly as she asked, “Do you know what happened at the city gate?”
“I do.” Zhong Qiu nodded honestly, sneaking another glance at Yun Qimu.
“Hurry up and spit it out! Stop dragging it out and keeping us in suspense,” Pei Yu said, clearly unimpressed by this pretty boy’s act. Not as handsome as him, not as well-dressed, yet somehow even more dramatic.
Zhong Qiu shivered at his words, but when he met Pei Yu’s fierce gaze, he immediately stopped stammering and spilled everything he knew like beans from a sack.
Turns out, just yesterday after they left, a medium-sized spaceship—looking about eighty percent new—arrived above Chaos City. The ship had the word “Supplies” painted on it in big, bright red letters, as if afraid no one would notice.
That in itself wasn’t so strange. Supply ships coming to Exile Star were rare, but not unheard of.
Some exiled nobles would have their families send supplies for various reasons. Others, whose families worried about them after accidentally ending up here, would also send things.
Once you’re on Exile Star, you can’t leave, but communication with the outside is still possible—though the magnetic field makes the signal spotty.
So, a supply ship wasn’t anything new.
What was new was that this ship had a giant loudspeaker, which blared out that the supplies were for Yun Qimu and her man.
In short, it was the property of the two of them.
The loudspeaker blared all night, making sure everyone in Chaos City knew just how “special” this supply ship was.
It wasn’t just for Yun Qimu—it was for her and “her man”!
Naturally, the men of Chaos City got restless.
A whole medium-sized ship’s worth of supplies—if it was all nutrient solution, a few people could live off it for a hundred years!
Even if it wasn’t nutrient solution, whatever it was, the ship itself was valuable enough to serve as a mobile base.
Supplies are irresistible—that’s why so many men, each with their own “charms,” were fighting at the city gate.
It was a competition for the position—who wouldn’t fight for it?
Never mind that Yun Qimu was a peerless beauty—even if she were ugly, people would still scramble to compete.
After all, being her man meant owning that entire supply ship.
Even Lin Qiu showed up, as did Zhong Teng and Yi Beimeng, who were practically out of resources at home.
The heads of the three major factions were all drooling over that supply ship.
As for Zhong Qiu, his buddies used to tell him he had no chance with Miss Yun and shouldn’t bother struggling. But now…
“Go for it, Xiao Qiu, we support you!”
“Even if you can’t be the official boyfriend, you could still be a boy toy. With that face of yours, you could just barely pass as a boy toy.”
Talk about changing their tune fast!
Zhong Qiu: …Damn, these dogs only have eyes for the supplies. Can’t they have a little integrity? A little ambition?
Does the goddess even need a boy toy? No—if he became one, he’d just be taking advantage of her!
After hearing the whole story, Yun Qimu narrowed her eyes and stroked her chin, not for a second believing that whoever sent the supply ship had good intentions.
On this wild, lawless Exile Star—especially in Chaos City—there was no such thing as order.
To send supplies so openly, with a loudspeaker announcing it to the whole city, was basically putting her on a pedestal and inviting everyone to take a bite.
If someone truly cared about her, they’d have sent the ship somewhere remote, the fewer people who knew, the better.
As the saying goes, “An innocent man gets into trouble because of his wealth.”
In a place as chaotic and lawless as this, having a fortune in supplies was a crime in itself—everyone would want a piece.
So who hated her enough to do this, and knew she was in Chaos City?
Yun Qimu stroked her fair, jade-like chin, narrowing her eyes as she searched her mind for suspects who’d pull such a stunt.
Kui Hai, as the brains of the group, also sensed something was seriously wrong after hearing the whole story.
By now, the “competition show” was winding down. Someone had managed to break through the chaos and fight their way to Yun Qimu.
A burly man with a swollen eye rushed over, spitting as he spoke: “Miss Yun, look at me—I’m eight feet tall, thirty-six years old, no elders or kids at home. My only vice is needing an extra bottle of nutrient solution to feel full. I’m strong and sturdy—please consider making me your man! I’ll treat you well, and if I get nutrient solution, you’ll never go without!”
Another man, nose crooked from a punch but still thinking himself suave, straightened his clothes and, more reserved than the last, gave a noble’s bow.
In a gentle, cultured voice, he said, “Miss Yun, our looks are well-matched. Would you be willing to join me in matrimony?”
Then a sunny, handsome guy pushed him aside. “Hmph, who are you trying to fool with that act? You haven’t read a single book but pretend you’re a scholar, just because Miss Yun doesn’t know your background.”
After roasting “Mr. Suave,” he rubbed his hands together and looked at Yun Qimu with a fawning smile. “Miss Yun, as long as you pick me, I’ll listen to everything you say. If you tell me to go east, I’ll never go west. If you want me to chase chickens, I’ll never walk the dog. Whatever you say goes. I’m totally henpecked, a complete pushover—don’t you think I’d make a perfect boyfriend?”"
