Chapter 198: How Can I Not Be Impatient?
Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era
Hu Yi didn’t keep Yun Qimu and the others waiting long before he brought over the injured man with his team.
“Miss Yun, this is Uncle Yu. He got his abdomen pierced by a crazed mutant beast’s ugly horn during an attack. The wound is really deep—almost went right through him. We’ve only managed some basic bandaging, but the wound’s already starting to fester. Do you think you can help?”
Hu Yi looked at Yun Qimu with eager, hopeful eyes.
Uncle Yu was currently the most seriously injured person at the Longteng base.
It wasn’t that they were stingy with their red medicine and refused to treat him. The problem was that Uncle Yu was stubborn as an ox and flat-out refused to take it. He relied on being an ability user with better recovery than ordinary people, insisting on toughing it out and healing naturally like before. If anyone tried to force-feed him, he’d clamp his mouth shut and play dead, refusing to take even a drop.
From last night until now, his nonviolent resistance had left the old folks at the base both exasperated and helpless. But they couldn’t scold him, either.
Because they knew Uncle Yu meant well—he wanted them to save the medicine for life-or-death situations during hunts.
So the moment Miss Yun said she needed an injured person to test her medicine, Hu Yi immediately thought of Uncle Yu.
Even then, Uncle Yu tried to push the opportunity onto someone else. In the end, it took Mr. Kui Hai stepping in and ordering people to carry this stubborn old bull over.
Yun Qimu glanced at the burly, bearded man on the stretcher. The white bandages wrapped around his waist were soaked through with blood. Hu Yi wasn’t exaggerating—the wound was indeed serious.
“Alright. Take off the outer layer of bandages so everyone can see the real condition of the wound.”
“Got it!” Hu Yi replied cheerfully, bending down to unwrap the bandages.
But Uncle Yu glared at them, looking a bit embarrassed.
“Uncle Yu, don’t move,” Zhong Teng said, frowning as he came over to help. With his strong arms, he lifted Uncle Yu up to make it easier for Hu Yi to remove the bandages.
Uncle Yu’s face flushed red, but his beard covered most of it, hiding his embarrassment. With no way out, he stiffly let the two younger men do as they pleased.
Layer after layer of blood-soaked bandages were peeled away, revealing the festering wound underneath.
It was bigger than a fist—a gaping bloody hole, with mangled flesh and even some internal organs visible.
“Hiss—”
Everyone craned their necks for a look, gasping in shock.
“That’s a huge wound!”
“He’s still alive after that? Tough as nails.”
“Shouldn’t we be admiring Uncle Yu’s endurance? He’s got a hole that big and isn’t even complaining. Longteng’s so poor, there’s no way they gave him painkillers.”
“True that. Uncle Yu’s a real man, able to withstand that kind of pain.”
Even Hu Yi, who already knew the wound was bad, was startled.
“This… this looks even worse than a couple days ago.”
He glanced at Uncle Yu, frowning and muttering anxiously, “Uncle Yu, why didn’t you say something? There’s no way this wound could heal on its own. Still being stubborn—if Miss Yun hadn’t needed a test subject today, were you planning to just let it get worse?”
Uncle Yu’s face turned even redder as he stammered, “I-I didn’t think it was this bad. Wounds like this usually start getting better after a few days.”
“It’s probably because that mutant beast was contaminated with too much dark matter. Dark matter can block the body’s self-healing,” Yun Qimu explained, frowning slightly.
“Lay him down first. With a wound this severe, a regular red potion won’t cut it. We’ll need the large red potion.”
Hu Yi looked a bit embarrassed—this meant spending more energy credits.
Zhong Teng looked over seriously. “Miss Yun, please use the large red potion. We at Longteng will pay the difference.”
“No need,” Yun Qimu said firmly. “Uncle Yu is volunteering as a test subject for my medicine. Of course I’ll use the best I have. If I took your money, I’d be going back on my word.”
Seeing her resolve, the Longteng people didn’t insist. They just thought to themselves that Miss Yun was a truly good person. Once they moved to Earth Village, they’d find a way to repay her.
Yes, ever since they saw what Kui Hai’s group brought back, they’d decided to relocate to Earth Village. Once Sen Muze’s hunt was over—win or lose—they’d move.
Yun Qimu took a bottle of large red potion from her spatial ring and walked over, intending to feed it to Uncle Yu herself. Hu Yi hurried over to take it from her.
“I’ll do it, I’ll do it. How could we trouble Miss Yun to do it herself? Leave it to me.”
He took the potion and held it to Uncle Yu’s lips. This time, Uncle Yu didn’t resist. He carefully raised his head and accepted the glass tube, making sure not to spill a single drop.
His fuzzy head and awkwardly stretched neck made him look oddly cute.
Hu Yi’s anger faded, replaced by helplessness.
Once Uncle Yu finished the potion, the onlookers crowded in, unable to wait any longer.
“Well? How is it? How do you feel?”
“Why isn’t it working yet? The wound’s still festering. Is this a scam?”
Doubts quickly spread, even from Lin Qiu, Xun Min, and the others standing closest, who frowned in suspicion.
Wen Lang, ever the ladies’ man, squeezed through the crowd to comfort Yun Qimu, “It’s alright if it didn’t work right away, Miss Yun. As long as you agree to spend the night with me, I’ll still buy your large red potion with energy credits. What do you say?”
He flashed her a charming smile, flicking his bangs, thinking himself irresistibly handsome and devilishly attractive.
But Wu Xingyu, standing next to Yun Qimu, shot him a look of utter disdain. “Greasy. Not even as good as that show-off Pei Yu.”
Pei Yu protested from the side, “Hey, if you’re going to compliment me, just do it. Why call me a show-off?”
Wu Xingyu glanced at him coldly. “Isn’t it true?”
“Of course not! I just like bright colors and dressing sharp, that’s all,” Pei Yu grumbled. But seeing Wu Xingyu’s increasingly amused expression, he sensed danger.
With a strong sense of self-preservation, he puffed out his chest and redirected the focus to Wen Lang. “But you’re right about one thing—this guy is way too greasy. He’s nothing like me, a true gentleman who’s been through countless flowers but never gets entangled.”
“You—” Wen Lang glared at him, furious.
But Pei Yu, thick-skinned as ever, wasn’t fazed. He righteously continued, “What? I’m just speaking the truth. Don’t bother arguing—you’re just greasy. And besides, the large red potion isn’t some miracle drug. How could it work instantly? It takes time! Why are you in such a rush? Waiting fifteen minutes won’t kill you.”
Wen Lang’s handsome face turned red with frustration. He thought to himself, How can I not be impatient? With a woman as outstanding as Miss Yun, if I don’t act fast, what if someone else snatches her away first?"
