Chapter 29: I’ll Come Trade You for a Pumpkin Later

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

“What’s the price of a spirit-stone house?” Mo Xie’s pitch-black eyes fixed on the excited face in front of him. His thick, inky brows lifted slightly as he asked, probing.

Yun Qimu’s eyes lit up at once. She swallowed and began her sales pitch: “Well, you see, spirit stones are extremely expensive—purer even than energy stones. Living in a spirit-stone house long-term can also increase your abilities, strengthen your body, and even improve your complexion and appearance, so it’s… a little pricey.”

She held up two fingers, leaving only the tiniest gap between them. “It’s only two billion spirit coins.”

Two billion.

Even someone as filthy rich as Mo Xie went blank-faced and fell into deep silence.

What on earth had given this little girl the illusion that two billion spirit coins—the equivalent of two hundred billion energy coins—counted as merely “a little pricey”?

He did a mental inventory of the energy coins he’d brought with him, then calculated what he had stored in the treasury—mecha, starships, hovercars, weapons, energy coins… Even if he scraped it all together, he could barely cobble up two hundred billion.

But could he really spend all of that on a single house?

Of course not.

As a rational adult, Mo Xie made the mature choice: the small wooden house.

“Just get me one sturdy wooden house. Thank you.”

Yun Qimu instantly wilted. After tasting big fish and fine meat, how could this plain porridge and side dishes possibly satisfy?

But a mosquito’s leg is still meat—she couldn’t start looking down on energy coins just because she now had thirty million energy coins on hand.

So she soldiered on in her role as salesgirl and continued introducing the product: “Our basic wooden house model comes with one bedroom, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom. It’s built entirely from wood. The current price is 150 spirit coins. But if you can prepare 400 jin of lumber, then you only need half the spirit coins—75 will do. Which option would you prefer, honored customer?”

Under her eager gaze, Mo Xie didn’t disappoint her this time. He chose the first option—full payment—and paid on the spot as usual.

Mm. Now this was the kind of plump sheep she liked.

With another 7,500 energy coins earned in “broker fees,” Yun Qimu wore a satisfied smile and personally led her big client to pick a location.

Mo Xie was the type who’d rented a whole mu of land—naturally he needed a spacious area—so he chose the zone to the left of Yun Qimu’s own wooden house.

It was a bit farther from the garbage mountain, with plenty of open ground. Marking off another mu in front for him was no problem at all. And the right side of the house was also all empty land—if he later wanted to contract another mu or two or three, that would be fine too.

Seeing this, Yun Qimu immediately exchanged for a wooden house and one mu of land for him.

The main AI, slippery as ever, quietly tried to poach customers behind her back. With a string of ding-dong suggestion prompts, it got this big fat sheep to bleed twice more, upgrading the wooden house two times—adding another bedroom and a small fenced yard just like the one in front of Yun Qimu’s house.

You had to admit: that corner-cutting and customer-stealing was done beautifully.

Yun Qimu: Angry. Sure enough, the main AI was an opponent you could never relax around.

Still, she quickly comforted herself. She’d already taken the lion’s share—letting the main AI sip a bit of broth wasn’t entirely unacceptable.

Just as the main AI was getting smug, Yun Qimu poured a bucket of cold water over its head.

“The rewards you promised me—one pharmacy workshop and one wooden house—hurry up and兑现现. If you don’t, it’ll be dark soon.”

The main AI’s smile vanished.

Why did she always have to bully this little main AI that had no bad intentions at all?!

Its mechanical voice carried gritted teeth: [Pharmacy workshop and wooden house will be issued for construction shortly. Please wait ten minutes, host.]

And so, at the far right of the row of wooden houses, thick white fog billowed out and covered a wide area. Clanking and banging sounds rang out—so loud they could hear it clearly even standing by Mo Xie’s field.

At the same time, the small Earth Village was nourished by the overflowing spiritual energy and sprang back to life once again.

The cucumber vines that had been ravaged to a sorry state: I, Hu Hansan, have returned!

The vines shot out new growth. What had been shriveled became plump again, crawling outward as they climbed. Under the green leaves, slender little spiny cucumbers began to form—growing longer and thicker, vivid and dripping with freshness.

No favoritism, either—inside Mo Xie’s newly upgraded yard, there was the same rustling. A new kind of plant had appeared.

Thicker vines began pushing up from some corner, then—like a territory grabber—spread their limbs wildly, stretching fast as they climbed the surrounding fence. Leaves followed, rapidly growing large as lotus leaves.

Red-brown fruits—flat and round, shaped like small millstones—gradually swelled, becoming fuller and heavier.

Even through that bright red-brown skin, you could almost sense the tempting sweetness within.

A sight like this—something no ability user could possibly achieve, something that could only be called a miracle—made even Mo Xie’s normally indifferent face show shock.

The “male god” expression cracked; even his voice stumbled.

“T-this… what is this?”

Yun Qimu peeked into his yard with small, envious eyes. “This is called a pumpkin. Steam it and you can eat it—super delicious, super sweet. Now that they’ve grown in the yard you bought, they belong to you. Lucky you. But my yard’s little greens aren’t bad either—you can trade pumpkins with me. Swap flavors.”

Mo Xie looked at her with an indescribable expression.

Was that what he was asking?

“What’s wrong? Don’t tell me you want to monopolize the big pumpkins? That won’t do. You have to understand sharing and exchanging.”

Yun Qimu didn’t understand his look and thought he was unwilling, so she immediately tried to persuade him—eyeing him with clear disapproval.

Mo Xie pressed his thin lips together and fell silent for a moment. “That’s not what I mean.”

Yun Qimu immediately brightened into a smile. “Good. It’ll be dinner soon—I’ll come trade you for some pumpkin later.”

Then she pointed toward her own yard, her eyes shining, looking like a loving mother watching a child she’d raised: “Look—my little greens have grown even more.”

Following her finger, sure enough: the vegetable patch in her yard had expanded again, spreading from the right side to the left—like it was about to take over the entire yard and turn it into a full-on garden.

In the patch, among the oval green leaves, there were also thin, long green shoots.

It was the garlic Yun Qimu had dug holes to plant yesterday. Now, boosted by this wave of spiritual energy, it had propagated again—growing more and more among the greens.

It made her quietly regret: if she’d known, she would’ve planted the strawberry seeds she’d drawn from the treasure chest too. With this wave of spiritual energy, maybe she’d be eating strawberries already.

A miscalculation!

Just as Yun Qimu was sulking, the ground suddenly trembled. Under the black soil, something seemed to be stirring.

“Careful.” Mo Xie’s brows knit. He grabbed Yun Qimu by the back of her collar—like lifting a kitten—and hauled her into the yard, stepping on several pumpkin leaves in the process.

Yun Qimu: %$#*)

Her smiling face instantly turned ugly. Countless mmps surged in her heart.

Damn it—ever since she’d crippled the instructor from her old genius class who once dared to lift her like that while she was still weak, no one else had dared to pick her up this way again.

Yun Qimu: Very good, man—you’ve got my attention!

Hahaha, some cuties guessed Mo Xie is the male lead—nope~

But he is connected to the male lead. If you want the details, keep reading—la la la.
