Chapter 49: The Unlucky One, In the Flesh

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

Mo Xie’s pitch-black eyes suddenly lit up. “That’s right, a greenhouse! But I don’t have the materials to build one. Does the village chief have any? I’ll buy them.”

Yun Qimu’s ears perked up, and a bright, eager smile instantly appeared on her face. “Yes, yes, of course I do! What kind do you need?”

She didn’t even wait for Mo Xie to state his requirements before launching into an enthusiastic introduction: “I’ve got biodegradable plastic film greenhouses—300 spirit coins per mu; glass greenhouses—600 spirit coins per mu; rainbow-glass greenhouses—1,200 spirit coins per mu; and spirit-stone structured greenhouses—one million spirit coins per mu.”

“Let me tell you, don’t be put off by the price of the spirit-stone greenhouse. It’s expensive for a reason! Spirit stones are amazing—they’re packed with vibrant life energy. Combine that with a spirit stone formation, and the spiritual energy will just keep flowing in, nourishing the plants inside the greenhouse.”

“The effect is just like that great transformation back in Earth Village—blink, and the whole place is green again, dead wood springs to life, everything blooms and flourishes. If you put your orchids in a spirit-stone greenhouse, they’ll revive instantly, bursting with vitality. In short, whoever buys it knows how good it is—miss out and you’ll regret it for ten years!”

“So, have you decided which one you want? Hurry up, make a choice! I can wait, but your orchids can’t—they’re about to be crushed by the snow. Save those poor things!”

As Yun Qimu spoke passionately, she pulled a long, bright red padded coat from her storage compartment and put it on. Instantly, she felt much warmer.

[Ding-dong—Player’s negative status removed.]

She raised an eyebrow with a cheerful smile, exhaling a comfortable puff of white breath. Her delicate features relaxed.

Next to her, the two mud-covered figures, shivering and nearly frozen silly, looked at her with envy.

Yun Qimu noticed their gazes. Her merchant instincts kicked in and she almost started pitching them on buying coats too.

But Mo Xie couldn’t wait any longer. “I’ll buy it—the spirit-stone greenhouse.”

Yun Qimu’s eyes sparkled. “Great, deal! Payment first, then I’ll build it.”

Uh... Mo Xie’s excited, handsome face froze.

Crap, he’d forgotten that he was now just an old flower farmer who’d spent everything on his plants. All he had left was the two thousand spirit coins he’d just made from scavenging, plus a few coins earned from monster hunting these past three days.

A million? He couldn’t cough that up!

His dark eyes turned, a little gloomily, to the others standing nearby.

Pei Yu immediately clutched his chest defensively. Don’t even think about getting money from him—he was just a poor soul who couldn’t even afford a Light Potion!

Mo Xie shot him a look of disdain, then turned to Wu Xingyu, who was standing there awkwardly.

He swallowed, then finally made up his mind and spoke. “Xiao Yu, could you lend me some spirit coins?”

Wu Xingyu frowned slightly, bits of dried mud flaking off his face. “But I don’t have enough spirit coins from what I just earned.”

“That’s fine, you can use energy coins. A hundred energy coins can be exchanged for one spirit coin,” Pei Yu interjected helpfully.

Mo Xie glanced at the eight luxurious gemstone rings on Pei Yu’s hand, a hint of envy in his eyes. “You’ve practically brought half the national treasury with you. A hundred million energy coins is probably just a drop in the bucket for you.”

Half the treasury... Which country’s?

Is it big?

Are there lots of treasures?

Eavesdropping on the side, Yun Qimu sucked in a cold breath and looked at that unlucky guy—no, that big spender—with eyes shining like dollar signs.

Wu Xingyu shot her a glance, then, face expressionless, tilted his head at his uncle. “Sure, but even between family, accounts must be clear. Even if you’re my uncle, you’ll have to pay interest.”

“Of course.”

“Then let’s say 10% monthly interest.”

Ten percent a month—if you borrow a million spirit coins, that’s 100,000 in interest per month, 200,000 in two months, and 1.2 million in a year.

That’s daylight robbery! Even loan sharks aren’t this ruthless!

But the key thing was, Mo Xie didn’t even hesitate before nodding in agreement. He looked completely unfazed, as if he was long used to his nephew’s extortionate ways.

This made Yun Qimu a bit nervous inside.

She looked at Wu Xingyu with a serious expression. This cash cow was not going to be easy to fleece!

Clink, clink—a crisp sound of spirit coins colliding rang out, and the deal was officially sealed.

Above the field outside the courtyard, a transparent object descended from the sky, covering the entire flower field.

The clear, crystalline rectangle was simple and unadorned, like a neatly built ice house. Only the faint purple spiritual glow on its surface revealed that it was no ordinary structure.

And indeed, it wasn’t.

Once the spirit-stone greenhouse was set up, the wilted orchids inside visibly perked up, straightening and gradually regaining their vigor. Their petals became plump and radiant, blooming brilliantly.

Even the buds that hadn’t opened yet slowly began to blossom.

Inside the spirit-stone greenhouse, the flowers were a riot of color, bursting with the vitality of spring—a world apart from the icy, snowy landscape outside.

Mo Xie was deeply gratified, a fatherly smile appearing on his handsome face.

“Whoosh—”

“Thunk—”

Suddenly, without warning, something beneath the snow-covered ground started to move. It quickly poked its head out and shot an ice arrow toward the greenhouse, then immediately burrowed back underground.

The ice arrow struck the greenhouse, making Mo Xie’s heart skip a beat—he almost lost it on the spot.

Luckily, Yun Qimu patted his shoulder to calm him down. “Relax, relax. The spirit-stone greenhouse is super sturdy. Even an S-class monster couldn’t knock it down. You get what you pay for! If you’d bought the 300-coin biodegradable plastic one, it would’ve collapsed in seconds and your flowers would be ruined. So remember—always buy the expensive stuff, the pricier the better, got it?”

Mo Xie thought that made perfect sense and nodded solemnly. “You’re right. Always buy the expensive one.”

“...”

Yun He scratched his head, feeling like something was off.

Yuan An glanced cautiously at Yun Qimu. Using reality as a lesson, she’d subtly convinced the customer to upgrade his purchase. Impressive—truly impressive!

Judging by her eyes, she was a ruthless businesswoman, on par with his own heartless third brother.

Heartless Wu Xingyu was staring intently at the snowy ground outside the courtyard, his silver eyes gleaming. “Is that the little monster you were talking about?”

“That’s right.”"
