Chapter 72: Destined to Be Her Daughter-in-Law

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

“Chief Masa, you are truly wise,” Yun Qimu praised with a smile, genuinely impressed by the chief’s decisiveness.

Masa’s weathered face, etched with deep lines, creased into a smile as he squinted his eyes. “Oh, not at all. I just trust that Chief Yun wouldn’t deceive us. Isn’t that right, Chief Yun?”

His sharp, glimmering eyes locked onto Yun Qimu’s, as if making one final test.

Yun Qimu’s lips, tinged with a hint of color, curved into a perfect arc. Her soft laugh rang in Masa’s ears like a bell at dawn. “Of course. I haven’t told a single lie about Earth Village.”

“However, joining Earth Village isn’t as simple as just wanting to join.”

Masa’s breath caught in his throat, stuck halfway, and he stared at her with wide, round eyes.

Yun Qimu’s lips pulled into a faint, confident smile, her composure that of someone firmly in control.

“To be honest, our Earth Village is indeed short on people right now, but not so desperate that we’ll take just anyone.”

“Then, then we…” Masa opened his mouth, wanting to say something.

But Yun Qimu raised a hand to stop him. “Chief Masa, let me finish. Of course, your entire tribe can join Earth Village, but we have rules that must be followed. For example, we have a labor reform system. The game holds absolute authority in interpreting the rules. Anyone who breaks them, no matter how big or small the offense, will be punished with mandatory labor reform. You need to think this through. Even if you try to plead for someone, it won’t help—punishments will be carried out as needed.”

Masa’s eyes flickered with hesitation. “This…”

But beside him, Ge Miao patted his chest and declared, “What’s there to be afraid of? As long as you don’t do anything wrong, what’s to fear about punishment? I’m not scared.”

“That’s good. I just wanted to make things clear from the start. One more thing—even after joining Earth Village, safety isn’t absolutely guaranteed. The monsters in our village are weak now, but they’ll get stronger. If you lose your life because of that…”

Ge Miao chimed in, “Not a problem! We risk our necks fighting berserk beasts all the time. Sometimes, after all that effort, the meat isn’t even edible. The monsters in Earth Village are nothing—at least they drop fresh meat. If I can have a few good meals before I die, that’s a blessing.”

“Hahaha… Looks like the young chief has thought this through. Then, on behalf of Earth Village, I welcome the Tiangou Tribe to join us.”

“Hehe.”

Watching the two of them settle the matter so quickly, Masa glanced at his silly son, still grinning foolishly at the side, and nearly choked on his own breath.

Ge Miao blinked innocently. “Dad, why are you looking at me? Weren’t you going to discuss things with Chief Yun? Go ahead!”

Masa spat in exasperation, “What’s left for me to say when you’ve already said it all?”

Ge Miao wiped his face silently.

Across from them, the three space pirates exchanged glances. No longer interested in eavesdropping, they quietly began to edge away while the others were deep in conversation.

They knew their own limits—against this axe-wielding woman and the whole Tiangou Tribe, they didn’t stand a chance. Time to slip away!

“Hey, they’re trying to run!” Delis suddenly widened her eyes and pointed at the three, shouting loudly.

Yun Qimu glanced at them with a faint smile. “It’s fine. They won’t get far.”

No sooner had she spoken than three water arrows shot out, striking the backs of the pirates’ knees and making them stumble.

Then, three more water arrows knocked the weapons from their hands. Amos dashed over, pulled out a big club, and with swift, precise blows, knocked each one out cold with a strike to the back of the neck.

Three seconds later, the three burly pirates collapsed like limp rag dolls, completely unconscious.

“Wow—this young man is amazing! A real hero at such a young age!” Delis’s big violet eyes sparkled as she gazed at Amos.

Yun Qimu pinched her soft, fair cheek. “How old are you to be calling him a ‘young man’? You sound like an old lady.”

Delis twisted her neck and pouted, “I’m twenty-five already—old enough to get married and have kids.”

“Huh?” Yun Qimu looked at her in surprise. “Twenty-five? I never would have guessed.”

“Of course! I have a baby face—it makes me look much younger. When I get older, this will be even more of an advantage,” Delis said proudly.

“Alright then.” Yun Qimu quietly withdrew her hand. She couldn’t bully someone older than herself.

“Oh, right! Agulai!” Delis suddenly jumped up, her little face showing anxious concern.

“Hm? Who’s Agulai?”

“I think he’s a warrior from the neighboring tribe—there’s someone named Agulai,” Ge Miao answered after thinking for a moment.

“Yes, yes, from the Red Fox Tribe! He got badly hurt by those three villains while trying to save me. I don’t know how he is now—I have to go find him…”

Delis lifted her skirt and hurried down the path they’d come from, her face full of worry.

“I—I’ll go too, see if I can help.” Ge Miao glanced at his still-grumpy father, then quickly turned and ran after her.

Their anxious figures disappeared down the path in a flash.

Masa snorted, “That brat!”

“Chief, what should we do with these?” Amos had already tied up the three Black Skull pirates by their ankles and dragged them back, handing Yun Qimu the energy guns he’d confiscated.

Yun Qimu glanced at them, fiddled with one for a moment, then tossed it back to Amos. “They’re out of energy. We can’t use them. Just destroy them.”

“Hiss—” Masa watched with a pained expression. “Why destroy them? Maybe we could find a way to recharge them. They’re powerful—could be a family heirloom or something…”

“If we keep them, there’s a bigger chance those pirates will come back to attack us for them.”

Masa opened his mouth, but fell silent.

Yun Qimu chuckled. “But you did remind me—the outer shell looks pretty intimidating. Let me see if the game will take it as scrap.”

She began communicating with the system in her mind.

Maybe the system was feeling guilty about the monsters being discovered, because it took the guns without hesitation and even gave Yun Qimu a generous reward of 100 spirit coins.

Masa didn’t really understand what the “game” was, but in the blink of an eye, the gun in Yun Qimu’s hand disappeared. He thought he heard a faint crunching sound, like something being crushed.

He rubbed his ears, but the sound was gone."
