Chapter 80: Marriage Registration Office
Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era
Masa and the rest of the tribe were all shocked.
“What? She even gave Ava’s things to her lover? Mana actually did something so shameless? Aunt Meifang, how do you know about this?”
“I saw it with my own eyes.” Meifang straightened her back, looking absolutely confident. “Just yesterday morning, on the little path outside our tribe, Mana handed three bottles of nutrient solution to a young man—skinny, weak-looking, but very pale. I don’t know his name, I just happened to walk by and saw it. I heard her say that she got it from Ava, and told him not to be stingy with it. She said once he finished, she could get more from Ava.”
She even looked a bit regretful as she spoke. “I meant to warn Ava about this, but there was so much going on yesterday, I forgot.”
The tribe members looked at Ava with even more sympathy in their eyes.
Now, even Masa didn’t dare defend Mana anymore. His face was dark and grim, full of disappointment and frustration.
Because of their environment, food was held in the highest regard among the tribe—higher even than one’s wife.
If Mana, as Ava’s wife, ate or drank a bit more herself, that was still understandable. After all, some families would save the best food and drink for their wives, even if it meant going hungry themselves.
But for Mana to give Ava’s food to her lover—that was a whole different level.
“Divorce her, Ava. I support you.”
“Yeah, the sooner you get rid of someone like that, the better. Let her go live with her lover. You’re the bravest warrior in our tribe—you can have any wife you want. Mana isn’t worth it.”
The tribe was in an uproar. If, earlier that morning, Mana’s questionable behavior had just been rumors, now, with Aunt Meifang as a witness, it was solid proof.
Why keep her around? So she could steal more of Ava’s nutrient solution to feed her lover?
“Chief, are you going to allow the divorce or not?” Aunt Meifang pressed Masa again, full of indignation.
Masa’s face turned beet red. He stammered, insisting, “W-we’ll wait until Mana comes back, then divorce. This is between the two of them. Both need to be present for a divorce, right?”
Yun Qimu glanced at him with a half-smile, then interjected, “Actually, it doesn’t really matter if you divorce or not. You don’t have any official registration here—it’s basically a blind marriage, with no legal standing. Once we get to my Earth Village, I’ll set up a marriage registration office. If you’re a couple, you can register, and then the village will recognize your marriage. If you don’t register, it doesn’t count. So, as long as Ava doesn’t register or get married, he’s still a single man.”
The tribe members’ eyes lit up, especially the married couples.
“Village Chief Yun, that’s a great idea!”
“Exactly! Marriage should be registered, it needs to be official. If there’s no official recognition, what kind of marriage is that?”
“Haha, when we get to Earth Village, I’m going to register with my wife right away. Can’t let her run off!”
Even Ava, whose face was always stern and cold, showed a hint of a smile. “Village Chief Yun’s idea is excellent.”
Yun Qimu herself was quite pleased.
“Alright, since that’s settled, let’s get moving. We’ve already wasted five minutes.”
“Yes, yes, let’s go!”
“We need to hurry and reach Earth Village before dark.”
The Tengu tribe was full of excitement, all looking to Yun Qimu as their leader, leaving the old chief Masa behind as they shouldered their luggage and hurried off.
The noisy group left the tribal gates, excitedly heading toward Earth Village.
Masa, now “abandoned by all,” trailed at the very end, his face full of gloom and sorrow. “Did I really do something wrong?”
Hualan shot him a look. “Completely wrong. I know you spoiled Mana, but she’s not that sweet, innocent girl anymore. If she does something wrong, she has to face the consequences. If you still care about Mana, you can stay here and wait for her. As for me and our son, Village Chief Yun has already recruited us to work. I’m sure we’ll do just fine without you.”
Gemo chimed in, quick-witted as ever, “Yeah, Dad, it’s fine if you stay here. Even if something happens to you, Mom and I will be fine. I’ll take good care of her, don’t worry.”
Masa snapped to attention, glared at his son, and hurried to catch up with the group.
He grumbled angrily, “Who said I was staying? Don’t even think about hogging your mother.”
“Hmph, weren’t you just thinking about staying here for Mana? Don’t think I didn’t notice.”
“Nonsense! I’d never leave your mother.”
Father and son bickered back and forth, successfully breaking Masa’s hesitation. Before he knew it, he’d followed the group several hundred meters away, and there was no way he was turning back now.
He could only secretly pray that Mana’s lover was at least capable enough to take care of her.
So, when Mana returned from her lover’s place, cheeks flushed and in high spirits, she found the tribe had become an empty shell—everyone had vanished overnight.
Her smile instantly turned to panic. “Where is everyone? Where did they go?”
Her shriek startled a passerby, who took off running, thinking some terrible tragedy had occurred.
On the road to Earth Village.
They didn’t run into any berserk beasts, but they did encounter wave after wave of long-tailed “guard chickens.”
Yun Qimu led Luke, Amos, Ahua, and the other official Earth Village residents at the front, opening treasure chests one after another, each one yielding more good stuff.
The Tengu tribe members could hardly believe their eyes, green with envy.
But for now, they were only provisional members of Earth Village. As Village Chief Yun had said, they could only become official villagers after arriving at Earth Village. Only then could they fight monsters and get treasure chests. Otherwise, even if they killed a chicken now, they wouldn’t even get a feather.
A few tribe members didn’t believe it and secretly killed two chickens. Sure enough, after the chickens died, they simply disappeared—no sign of a treasure chest at all.
So they gave up, and could only watch Yun Qimu and her group happily kill chickens, open treasure chests, and show off their loot.
But they also noticed—not every treasure chest was as lucky as Village Chief Yun’s, who sometimes got three items at once.
Some chests only had a small piece of meat, some were even empty. Clearly, luck was a big factor.
The Tengu tribe members sighed with emotion, but refused to admit they were unlucky.
Still, they were all in high spirits, marching along energetically. They watched Yun Qimu and the others fight monsters and open treasure chests with great enthusiasm. Every time Yun Qimu opened a chest, a crowd of Tengu tribe members would gather around, grinning and pointing, guessing what might be inside."
