Chapter 88: Contract Management Service Fee

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

Dailisi noticed that Yun Qimu was just standing there without moving, so she blinked and, humming to herself, quickly drafted an electronic contract based on the terms and obligations they had previously discussed.

“Village Chief Yun, Village Chief Yun, take a look at this contract. If everything looks good, let’s sign it. There’s also a 10-spirit-coin contract management service fee—I’ll cover that, no problem. What do you think?”

After witnessing the wonders of Earth Village and seeing the beautiful clothing shop, Dailisi felt there was nowhere better in the entire Exile Star. So now, she was especially eager, almost impatient to secure this job.

“Hm?” Yun Qimu snapped out of her thoughts and glanced at the floating, holographic contract Dailisi had pushed over.

Every clause was written exactly as she’d suggested, and in great detail—nothing was missing.

Satisfied, she nodded, smiling at her very on-the-ball new employee. “Looks good. Let’s go with this. If you insist on paying the contract management fee, I won’t argue. I’ll pay it first, and then deduct it from your salary later.”

Dailisi’s eyes sparkled instantly, and she looked at Yun Qimu with tears of gratitude. “Village Chief Yun, you’re such a good person.”

Then, nervously twisting the hem of her skirt and blushing, she asked, “Um, can I stay in the clothing shop tonight with Agulai? We don’t have any spirit coins to rent a place.”

“Of course! You’re the boss of the clothing shop now—the right to use it is all yours. You can redecorate or renovate however you like. My only requirement is that you stay motivated and work hard to make the shop profitable.”

Dailisi immediately straightened her back, full of gratitude. “Thank you, Village Chief Yun! I’ll design lots and lots of beautiful clothes and make our shop a success.”

“Alright then, take a good rest today. We’ll open for business tomorrow. Also, I’ve organized some people to make clothes as well. When they’re done, I’ll send them over for you to sell in the shop.”

“Mm-hmm!” Dailisi nodded enthusiastically, her big eyes blinking obediently. She didn’t object to a single thing Yun Qimu said.

As soon as Yun Qimu finished speaking, Dailisi happily bounced over to Agulai, who was standing nearby like a tall, thin bamboo pole.

“Agulai, Agulai! We have a place to stay tonight—we’ll sleep in that pretty clothing shop. Once I get my salary, we can buy a little wooden house to live in. What do you think?”

The lovely young lady looked up at him, her face bright with a radiant smile. Even Agulai’s usually expressionless, dark face couldn’t help but flush a little red. He awkwardly averted his gaze. “Okay.”

Then, in a hoarse, low voice, he added, “My injuries are healed now. I can hunt monsters and earn spirit coins. I’ll buy us a little wooden house.”

“That’s great too!” Dailisi happily grabbed his arm and pulled him outside. “I heard from Village Chief Yun that there are some little monsters in the village. Let’s go check it out—maybe we’ll get lucky and run into one. I want to give it a try too.”

“Mm.” Agulai let himself be pulled along, his usually stern and silent face relaxing a little, even showing a hint of happiness. His deep voice also sounded warmer and more natural. “If even the kids in Earth Village can fight, you definitely can too.”

Dailisi made a little fist, puffed up her delicate cheeks, and grinned with determination. “That’s right! I can do it. No way I’ll lose to a bunch of kids.”

While this pair happily completed their contract, things weren’t going so smoothly for the others, who were arguing over the 10-spirit-coin fee.

Ten spirit coins was a thousand energy coins—the same price as that shabby cotton jacket they’d bought. Lai San absolutely refused to pay it.

If he didn’t manage to earn at least 20 spirit coins in five days, he’d be stuck in Earth Village. No matter how nice the place was, he was a spy sent by the Black Bear Tribe—technically the enemy. The better the place, the more nervous he felt.

Aunt Meifang wasn’t happy about the fee either. She’d been delighted at the thought of earning 10 spirit coins, but after the service charge, she’d basically be working for nothing.

The other four tourists also started arguing with the Tengu Tribe members—no one wanted to pay the fee. For a while, the mission hall was in chaos.

In the end, everyone compromised and agreed to split the fee fifty-fifty.

As for not signing the contract—Aunt Meifang didn’t trust this honest-looking Black Bear Tribe guy at all, afraid he’d skip out on payment.

A contract was necessary. If he tried to cheat, the game would definitely punish him—just like those three space pirates who got electrocuted until they were twitching skeletons.

The smart management system was considerate, too. Understanding that they were new and had no spirit coins, it offered them an interest-free loan, as long as they paid it back within five days.

The other four pairs also chose to sign the contract. In the end, they left the mission hall in a less-than-happy mood—after all, their earnings had just been cut in half.

Lai San was especially heartbroken.

On his first day in Earth Village, he’d already racked up a debt of 15 spirit coins and bought a shabby cotton jacket.

That’s what he wrote in his diary.

But his troubles weren’t over yet—there was still the issue of food and shelter.

If it were summer, he could just sleep anywhere, but now it was freezing cold. If he slept outside, he might not wake up at all!

For the sake of his own life, Lai San nervously edged closer to Yun Qimu, planning to ask if the village chief could help with accommodation. But before he could say anything, he bumped into someone.

Looking up, he met a pair of pitch-black, lifeless eyes—like bottomless holes ready to suck him in. Lai San immediately jumped back three steps, breaking out in a cold sweat despite the freezing weather.

He bowed ninety degrees and shouted, “Sorry, sorry! I didn’t mean to—I have something urgent, I’ll be going now!”

With that, he spun around and bolted away like a startled rabbit, stumbling and scrambling through the snow.

Wu Xingyu stood there, face dark and expression cold, watching the man who’d just face-planted in the snow. He was extremely annoyed—he hadn’t even asked for compensation for the collision yet!

Just then, Yun Qimu glanced over and was startled. “When did you get here?”

Wu Xingyu replied woodenly, “I’ve been following you the whole time.”

Yun Qimu was surprised. “How come I didn’t notice?”

Wu Xingyu shot her a sidelong look. “Is it my fault your eyesight’s bad?”

Yun Qimu: …

She gritted her teeth and decided to let his sharp tongue slide for now.

Then she changed the subject. “Have you thought about doing business—like taking our Earth Village goods out to sell? You’d make way more than just opening empty boxes or earning a coin or two.”

Good night, everyone! Have fun tomorrow on May Day~"
