The knowledge of these skills was now deeply imprinted in her mind, but using them wasn’t as easy as in a real game—they’d require learning and practice.
As her profession was confirmed, the following pages gradually unlocked.
She turned to the Character Attributes page.

"At her current level, she could learn 0th-level and 1st-level spells.
She flipped through a few of the simplest 0th-level spells, but quietly gave up.
Spells were even harder to learn than skills—they were completely unfamiliar knowledge that required a lot of practice. She’d need to find a safe place to study them first.
Although things had gotten more complicated, Mu Ying actually felt more at ease. Only what she learned solidly herself could truly be called her own. Relying solely on some doomsday game of unknown origin was unsettling. Even for those three languages, she planned to keep practicing them.
The next few pages, “Item Identification,” were for appraising items. She flipped to the forum interface—at the top of the page was a gray leaderboard section that hadn’t been unlocked yet. The public chat area below was open, but completely empty.
She figured there probably weren’t many people who’d gotten access to the game yet. And even if they had, maybe they hadn’t had a chance to post anything here. She’d be better off checking the internet than looking here.
Thinking of this, Mu Ying reached into her pocket for her phone—only to find it missing. “Huh? I definitely put it in here. I just took it out to check the time not long ago. Don’t tell me I dropped it!”
But thinking about it, that seemed impossible. The phone was pretty big, and she’d kept her hand in her pocket the whole time. She only took it out when the meteor appeared, and it wasn’t around her now. Could it have just disappeared into thin air?
Forget it. With something like a doomsday game appearing, losing her phone seemed almost normal.
Mu Ying ran to the edge of the observation deck again and looked out. On the mountain path where the crowd was thickest, it was a scene of utter carnage. She could faintly hear screams carried on the wind.
From what she’d seen and heard before, a zombie should have appeared next to each person. If you killed the zombie, you’d get access to the doomsday game as a player. So, the more crowded the place, the more dangerous it was.
She only had a kitchen knife right now, and she’d only managed to kill her zombie by luck. Although she was experienced in forest survival and could probably handle a lone zombie, if there were more, she’d have no choice but to run.
So the safest plan was to find a suitable place and use the lord’s token she’d picked up earlier. A territory should have some kind of protection, right?
The first place that came to mind was near Shiyin’s cave in the forest.
She had some supplies stored there, and it was sparsely populated. She was familiar with the terrain, too. Unfortunately, while there weren’t many people deep in the forest, there were plenty of dangers—predators that were even harder to deal with than zombies. Only the area where the Shiyin wolf pack lived was relatively safe.
Usually, Shiyin would take her there and back. If she had to walk back on her own, it would take a long time, so she had to give up on that idea.
But then she thought, a territory couldn’t be too remote, or there wouldn’t be enough people and it wouldn’t develop well. If Shiyin hadn’t gone off to receive his inheritance yet, he’d have no problem killing zombies, and he’d probably come looking for her soon by following her scent. When that happened, she could have him bring some supplies.
Her next best option was to find a nearby spot that was sparsely populated, with flat terrain and easy access to resources.
The Yuehu Reservoir might work?
Yuehu Reservoir was also within the forest park, but in the other direction. It was a small reservoir in a valley surrounded by mountains. The reservoir itself was small, but the valley was fairly large and densely wooded, but still relatively flat.
There was a mountain path leading there, but you had to cross a mountain to reach it from outside. There probably wouldn’t be many people there at this hour.
The only downside was that it was far from the outside, so resources might be hard to come by. But she still had a bottle of water and a few pieces of bread in her bag—enough to last her through today.
Thinking this was a good spot, Mu Ying set off. She knew the park’s trails well. She climbed up a stretch, crossed the mountainside to the other side, and then headed down.
Holding her kitchen knife, she darted through the woods. Once she reached the far side of the mountain, she found a spot with a good view and looked down. There was hardly anyone around the crescent-shaped Yuehu Lake. It was very quiet.
It wasn’t until she got close to the lake that she noticed a military-green tent in the woods. Next to it were overturned folding tables and chairs. Near the lake were a water bucket and fishing rods.
The owners were probably people who’d been night fishing here last night. In the morning, they’d been attacked by zombies, had an arm bitten off, and were infected—now they wandered near the tent as zombies.
Two zombies. That was a bit tricky. And if you got bitten by a zombie, you really would turn into one. With just a short kitchen knife, close combat was too risky.
But the woods were full of shrubs and brambles. Even if the zombies spotted Mu Ying and tried to follow, it would be tough for them. They seemed only able to walk straight toward her, getting tripped up by obstacles along the way. Their movement was slow—about the speed of a normal person walking.
Mu Ying shook them off and ran toward the source of the Yuehu Reservoir. She found a suitable spot and used the lord’s token.
[Please name your territory.]
“Since it’s near Qingshan Forest, I’ll call it Qingshan.” Mu Ying quickly typed in “Yuehu.”
