Chapter 175: What Are You Looking At? Looking at You, So What?

I Farm In The Apocalypse

To truly get rid of a problem, there are countless opportunities along the way. You could have just released the snakes—why wait until today, and why insist on killing them?

Considering that Qin Feifei loved to protect herself, it was clear she didn’t want to go down with Zhou Da Heng. This meant that she had been planning to kill him while ensuring her own safety and presenting herself as harmless as a little lamb.

After all, in this age of big data, even if she killed Zhou Da Heng, where could she run? There would be nowhere to hide.

Framing someone else with snake venom was the perfect loophole.

So, whether Jing Shu had shown up or not, Qin Feifei was determined to kill Zhou Da Heng today. As for whom she intended to frame, it became quite clear, given how she repeatedly referred to "little temptresses" and "fox spirits."

Since Zhou Da Heng was destined to die either way... Well then, hmm? Interesting!

“Cut the act. I have a better idea...” Jing Shu said.

Indeed, no one could survive in the entertainment industry without some serious skills. One moment, Qin Feifei had been sobbing like a delicate flower, and the next, her face turned icy cold. She wasn’t embarrassed at being seen through. Instead, she started to scrutinize Jing Shu more closely. Who was this woman? What was her objective? Could they reach some sort of mutual understanding?

The snakes definitely couldn’t be killed—not when they were specially bred by Zhou Da Heng for their supposed aphrodisiac effects. After examining the snakes, Jing Shu identified them as *Deinagkistrodon acutus*, commonly known as the five-step snake. Not only were these snakes famous for their potency, but their venom was also highly effective for making medicinal wine, especially combined with turtle extracts. Paired with the medicinal herbs Jing Shu grew in her space, it would be a perfect combination!

A small sip of such wine every day, and you could live to be 99!

Perfect! Jing Shu had already claimed the snakes as hers. But now wasn’t the right time to take them, especially since they technically still belonged to Zhou Da Heng. Involving herself with the snakes now would only make her seem guilty. No, she would bide her time and strike after the storm had passed.

With her back turned to Qin Feifei, Jing Shu used a plastic bag to extract the snake venom into a bottle. Without needing to kill the snakes, she had expertly collected the venom.

Handing the venom to Qin Feifei, Jing Shu warned, “Now it’s your turn. But just so you know, simply drinking the venom won’t work.”

Jing Shu was worried that Qin Feifei might be dumb enough to try making Zhou Da Heng drink the venom, forgetting that stomach acid would neutralize most of it. While he might get sick, there was a chance he wouldn’t die.

“I know,” Qin Feifei replied coldly. “It’s best injected into an artery. I’ll mix it with the usual injections he gets for his 'enhancement treatments.' He’ll enjoy his last few hours alive.”

Qin Feifei pulled out a syringe and grinned maliciously. Jing Shu couldn’t help but acknowledge that, with just one small adjustment to the plan, the whole situation had changed.

But why was this woman helping her?

Back in the family’s shelter, Jing Shu received two pieces of good news. First, Heng Jin informed her that they had entered the province where Wu City was located. Although the flooding was severe, they were making progress, and Jing Shu’s RV was finally getting closer.

Second, Yang Yang had arrived in the country with Wang Da Zhao and would reach Wu City in less than a week. He thanked Jing Shu profusely, saying that without her special medicine, his brothers might not have survived.

Meanwhile, things were bustling in Cave 5. The power of a motivated crowd was undeniable. Everyone worked hard, knowing that the improvements were for their own benefit. By the afternoon, they had laid down bricks, arranged stones in a ring, and prepared everything for the evening, when the temperature would drop. They planned to burn wood in the stone channels to heat the space.

It wouldn’t be very warm, but at least it wouldn’t be freezing cold.

Some people noticed that Jing Shu’s family had moved in piles of dirt and bricks, and they started imitating them by building earthen stoves. After all, even if they were only staying here for a few days, who wouldn’t want to be as comfortable as possible?

Jing Shu’s grandfather and father, experienced craftsmen, quickly built a brick kiln. To speed things up, they used fire to dry it out. That evening, the family would enjoy roasted sweet potatoes, freshly baked bread, and hot milk tea—all in the warmth of the kiln.

At 5 PM, the government distributed food rations. Each community representative collected food based on the number of residents, and in Jing Shu’s community, there was even extra. Since Jing Shu’s family didn’t take any, everyone else had more to eat. For once, people were grateful to have the “villa family” around.

As the evening approached and the temperature dropped, people passing by Cave 5 saw the residents using bricks to elevate their sleeping areas. Soon, others were imitating them, though most of the available bricks had already been taken by those who had acted quickly.

As the temperature dropped further, the residents of Cave 5 lit the firewood they had collected, and soon the trenches were glowing with warmth. White smoke curled upward, and the flickering firelight illuminated the rows of bald heads sitting around.

Thanks to the way the bricks and stones had been laid, every person had just enough space, with pathways forming neat rows. The only part of the cave left unoccupied was the space taken up by Jing Shu’s family.

When Zhou Da Sheng and his group of fifty men barged in, hoping to stay the night, they were stunned. There was nowhere for them to settle except for the narrow pathways.

“If only those annoying firewalls weren’t there. But it’s so warm here.”

Though there was enough space, the barriers of burning firewood prevented Zhou Da Sheng’s group from squeezing in.

“What are you staring at?” one of the Cave 5 residents demanded. Clearly, they weren’t happy about these newcomers trying to muscle in.

“Looking at you, so what?” Zhou Da Sheng replied. He had come to cause trouble, but things weren’t going as planned.

Not only had Zhou Da Sheng’s plan hit a snag, but Zhou Da Fu’s also ran into an issue. When he went to steal the snakes, they were gone. “The two precious snakes that Da Heng always cherished are missing? The foundation of my three-bird plan is gone?”

Zhou Da Fu was bewildered. He knew he couldn’t proceed with his plan unless he found those snakes, so he decided to search in the places where they were most likely to be.
