Chapter 271: Suicide Explosion for All (Fourth Update)
I Farm In The Apocalypse
TNT has a melting point of 81 degrees Celsius and won’t explode if placed in a fire. Due to its non-flammable nature, it melts into liquid and can be shaped into various types of explosives.
The key to an explosion isn’t combustion; it’s the rapid generation of gas. As long as any explosive produces a significant amount of gas, it can cause an explosion—just like how a tire can blow if overinflated.
A shockwave can trigger its detonation, and just two detonators are enough to ignite it.
Jing Shu’s heart raced wildly. "Damn, I’m so lucky I found this in time. Otherwise, if these tons of explosives were triggered, the entire mountain would have been flattened!"
Jing Shu had worked with detonators before. Don’t ask why—when you’re starving, you do whatever job pays, no matter how dangerous. Otherwise, you’d starve to death.
So, she was all too familiar with the dangers and power of TNT explosives. She had personally experienced the deafening roar of a bomb detonation right next to her. One wrong move, and she could’ve been blown apart.
That year, it had taken just a few bundles of explosives, wrapped around a small mountain, to completely blow it apart. A few people working together could have flattened it with a single detonation.
To give you a better idea: a five-story commercial building would need only about 800 kilograms of explosives to obliterate it, leaving nothing behind.
The amount of TNT lying here on the ground? Jing Shu estimated it to be at least 2 tons.
"This is insanity, sheer insanity." Jing Shu muttered, as she hurriedly stashed all the explosives into her magic cube space. She hadn’t even had time to explore her newly upgraded magic cube, and yet here she was, saving tons of explosives from blowing up.
At least now she felt a little safer, right?
But as if on cue, the ground outside began to rumble and shake violently, far more intense than before. The whole building trembled! These weren’t just minor explosions—this was a full-blown chain reaction of detonations. The kind where each section triggers the next, causing maximum destruction with minimal explosives.
"Dammit! There's more!" Jing Shu gritted her teeth and sprinted deeper into the massive underground bunker.
She wasn’t running for the exit—no, she was heading further in. She figured Lin Yi wouldn’t have just placed a few explosives here. With the effort of digging out a tunnel over ten kilometers long, there had to be more.
As the ground shook harder and harder, and the explosions grew louder, Jing Shu realized her time was running out. If she didn’t hurry, the entire mountain would come down.
She ran like mad, and sure enough, in the next area—what looked like a sewage tunnel—she found even more TNT. She quickly stashed everything into her magic cube.
As the deafening blasts continued outside, Jing Shu’s heart sank. Just how many tons of explosives had Lin Yi placed? Was he trying to level the entire Xishan?
And just how big was Qian Duo Duo’s estate, anyway?!
The rumbling was getting worse. Jing Shu could almost hear the detonators going off, signaling the incoming wave of destruction.
It was too late. The detonators had been triggered. There was no time left. She had to run back—now!
Jing Shu had always valued her life. She bolted down the tunnel, knowing full well that the TNT had been placed meticulously—enough to obliterate each section with precision. As long as she ran fast enough, maybe, just maybe, the explosions wouldn’t catch up to her.
Boom!
A deafening roar filled the air.
Jing Shu was caught in the blast’s shockwave and slammed hard into the wall. The overwhelming noise caused temporary deafness, with a constant ringing in her ears. Fortunately, it had only been the tail end of the explosion’s shockwave that hit her. She coughed, trapped under a pile of rubble.
Surprisingly, despite the pain, her body was holding up. While bruised and sore, she had no internal injuries or broken skin. It seemed her body had strengthened along with the magic cube's upgrade.
Just then, she heard footsteps. Jing Shu quickly pressed herself against the wall, hiding beneath the rubble. In the dim light, she spotted a woman in tight black clothes, her hair tied in a ponytail.
The woman shone a flashlight around, inspecting the ruins. After a moment, she turned to leave, speaking into her mic. "Plan B has failed. Four sections of explosives are missing. I suspect the plan has been compromised, and the explosives have been stolen. Requesting instructions."
A cold voice crackled back through the speaker: "Proceed with Plan C. Detonate the central explosives."
Though the woman’s face remained emotionless, tears silently streamed from her eyes. Her voice, however, remained flat, like that of a puppet. "Understood, my boss."
Jing Shu furrowed her brow. What was this? Another detonation plan? And the "central explosives" sounded ominous. Jing Shu sent two snakes ahead to follow the woman while she trailed from a distance, careful not to get too close.
The upgrade to the magic cube had made this possible. The snakes were like her eyes and scouts now, able to move ahead without being detected.
Jing Shu followed the woman out of the blasted tunnels, staying far behind. After about three minutes, they reached what looked like a conference room. Behind a large mirror was a hidden compartment. Jing Shu marveled at the secret room—Qian Duo Duo’s mansion was so massive, it probably wouldn’t even register to him if ten square meters went missing. In a mansion as big as this, who would notice if a mirror was moved by a couple of meters?
Inside the hidden room, there were not only surveillance screens monitoring key areas, but also... an entire room full of explosives! There were as many explosives here as Jing Shu had already collected! If these went off, it didn’t matter how big Qian Duo Duo’s estate was—everyone would be blown sky-high.
Outside, the explosions continued. It was clear the chain reaction wasn’t over.
"I’ve reached the control room. Requesting orders," the woman said.
"Detonate the explosives," came the cold reply.
"Yes, my boss."
The woman began to prepare for detonation.
Jing Shu sprinted into action, cursing herself for not following closer. This woman was on a suicide mission! Jing Shu hadn’t anticipated someone so blindly obedient. Who cries at the thought of their own death but doesn’t resist?
Jing Shu was out of time. Forget hiding her powers—if she didn’t act now, she’d be blown to bits along with everyone else.
