Chapter 79: Who Doesn’t Have a Gun These Days?

I Farm In The Apocalypse

Gou Yitian suddenly realized he’d been a bit too conspicuous, so he hurriedly scurried back, fawning as he shone his phone’s flashlight ahead. “Brother Dairi, be careful, the floor’s all sticky.”

Brother Dairi nodded. Maybe he was just overthinking things. He followed behind, quietly pulling out his gun—better safe than sorry.

And just like that, the exact same scene played out again.

“Brother Dabi, where are you guys?”

“Damn, what’s all this slippery stuff on the floor? Couldn’t someone bring a flashlight?”

As the people in front walked through the door, three huge nets suddenly dropped down, trapping them. Half the group was instantly immobilized. At the same time, Jing Ba, Jing Shu, and the repeating crossbow hidden in the space started firing—biu, biu, biu! The unsuspecting intruders screamed and cursed in pain.

The nets caught eight people in total, and the steel rings at the door locked up the remaining seven. Compared to last time, this was much easier—these guys weren’t prepared, and there were fewer of them.

“Damn it, Dabi, did you betray us? Where’s that woman?! Did she buy you off?” Gou Yitian shouted, unwilling to accept defeat.

“Dabi, let’s talk this out. If you want to be the boss, I’ll let you have the spot, just let us go first.”

Brother Dairi tried to break free from the steel ring while raising his gun to aim.

The dim phone light revealed the people in front riddled with arrows, lying motionless on the ground. The few who were trapped saw this and collapsed in terror, suddenly realizing their hands were sticky. When they looked, “It’s blood! The floor’s covered in blood!”

In the darkness, Jing Shu clearly saw the gun in Brother Dairi’s hand, her eyes shining even brighter.

She untied Brother Dabi and gave him a kick. “Your job’s done. You can go now.”

Jing Ba anxiously said, “We can’t let him go.” Jing Shu put her finger to her lips. “Shh, just watch.”

Brother Dabi stumbled into the dim light, a bitter smile on his face as he staggered toward the door. “They’re dead. All dead. They’re all dead!”

“What happened? Explain yourself!”

“They were all killed. They’re demons, it’s terrifying. That woman told me to lure you here. If you want to blame someone, blame her.”

Brother Dabi walked faster and faster. “I’m going home. I’m done with this. If that guy wants to build a new social order, let him.”

He hurried past the trapped men and ran into the darkness.

He escaped.

Bang!

A gunshot rang out. Brother Dairi turned and shot the fleeing man in the back of the head. Brother Dabi paused for a few seconds, then collapsed.

“So you just did as you were told and lured us here?” Brother Dairi sneered, but then he too heard loud bangs. A searing pain shot through his body and he fell backward, his gun flying from his hand.

In the darkness, Jing Shu rushed out, did a quick roll, and retrieved the gun from the ground. Only then did the others finally see the woman Gou Yitian had mentioned.

“Nice, another gun.” Jing Shu tucked it away, then, seeing a few stubborn men frantically calling for help, she snapped their necks without hesitation.

Brother Dairi lay on the ground, watching helplessly as Jing Shu methodically finished off the survivors and dragged the corpses out of the villa one by one. Only then did he understand why Dabi had called her a demon. She’d wiped them all out with such simple tricks?

Gou Yitian shook his head in terror. “Impossible, this can’t be happening! Damn it!” He realized he was done for. So this woman had gone easy on him when she visited his house earlier—this was her true nature?

“Help!” Gou Yitian howled.

Jing Shu walked over with a stack of wet papers, tied up the struggling Gou Yitian, and waved the papers in front of him. “Do you know what these are?”

Gou Yitian shook his head in fear.

“Ever heard of ‘paper suffocation’?” Jing Shu narrowed her eyes. This was the guy who’d brought dozens of robbers—she should have dealt with him long ago, then none of this would have happened.

Gou Yitian shook his head desperately. Someone, anyone, please save him!

“It’s when you stick wet sheets of paper to someone’s face, one after another, until they suffocate. They say it’s much more painful than just snapping your neck. I was planning to send you off tonight anyway. Now’s as good a time as any.”

Finally, Gou Yitian broke down and started sobbing in terror.

Brother Dairi swallowed hard. He’d been shot in the abdomen and right chest. The pain was excruciating—he couldn’t move at all. He knew he was done for. “Just make it quick,” he pleaded, closing his eyes. If he could choose, he’d rather have his neck snapped, but it looked like he wasn’t going to get his wish.

Just then, police sirens wailed outside. In no time, three or four patrol cars pulled up to the villa, and over thirty armed police officers poured out. Jing Shu quietly stashed the two guns into her Rubik’s Cube space and went to greet Minister Niu Mou, who hurried over.

Jing Ma, who’d heard the commotion inside, came out as well.

“Director Su, Jing Shu, is your family all right? I rushed over as soon as I heard—hope I’m not too late. Any casualties?”

“We’re fine, we made it through,” Jing Ma said gratefully, shaking Minister Niu’s hand.

Minister Niu had prepared for the worst. He’d heard that at least dozens of armed robbers had surrounded the villa, and feared the worst—he thought he’d be collecting bodies tonight.

But he’d swallowed his pride and begged a good friend to bring reinforcements. Still, he hadn’t expected...

“Huh? How come it looks like Jing Shu took them all down? That doesn’t seem right. And whose bodies are these all over the place?”

Over thirty armed police surrounded the villa, staring in shock at the pile of corpses and the two surviving men lying on the ground.

Gou Yitian let out a long breath, crying tears of joy. “Help! I’m finally saved! This woman—she’s a demon! She killed dozens of people, and she was going to kill me too! Arrest her, quick!”

“What’s going on?” A young armed police officer beside Minister Niu looked confused. “Weren’t we here to rescue people? Where are the victims? And where are the armed robbers?”

“Let me introduce you,” Minister Niu said. “This is Major Yang Yang from the Armed Police Unit. We were only able to bring so many people thanks to his help.”

Faced with Major Yang’s question, Jing Shu’s family didn’t know how to respond for a moment. Jing Shu coughed and said, “The pile of bodies over there are the armed robbers. This is Gou Yitian—he brought the ‘Biri’ gang here to try and take over our neighborhood. This is their Brother Dairi, one of their leaders.”

“‘Biri’? What a coincidence!” Yang Yang’s eyes lit up. “They’re not dead yet, are they?”

“No.”

“Then we’ll take this one. Hey, you must know something about that guy, right?” Yang Yang hauled Brother Dairi up.

“Who are you talking about? I don’t know anything!” Brother Dairi gritted his teeth.

“Whether you know or not, you’ll find out. You know, a cow can survive being pumped with dozens of pounds of water, but if a person gets just three pounds injected, the pain is unbearable…”"
