Chapter 142: Seduction

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

Gu Zhiyu heard a knock at the door and thought An Nan must have forgotten something.

But when he opened the door, he was greeted by an overly glamorous face.

Standing there was Susu, dressed in a black lace nightgown with a high slit and a plunging neckline. She pouted and said,

""Brother Gu, it’s so hot today, I feel like I’m getting heatstroke. You have air conditioning in your room, right? Can I come in and cool off for a bit?""

As she spoke, she lifted her slender hand and tried to rest it on Gu Zhiyu.

Gu Zhiyu immediately took a big step back, frowning.

""If you’re hot, go take a cold shower. You reek.""

With that, he shut the door in her face.

Susu stared in disbelief at the door that had just slammed shut on her, eyes wide. She looked down at her outfit.

This man-killer nightgown, paired with her curvy figure, had never failed her before!

How could this Gu guy treat her like this?!

She frowned and sniffed her arm.

Was it really the smell of sweat?

But what could she do? Water was scarce during this extreme heat. Bathing was out of the question—she only got to wipe herself down when she spent the night at the boss’s villa.

But then she thought, wait a minute, if she couldn’t bathe, how could An Meili? Neither of them had bathed, so why was she the only one being singled out?

An Meili could go into his room, but she couldn’t?

Grinding her teeth, Susu stomped downstairs.

Everyone was like this.

Even the boss seemed to have been bewitched by An Meili for no reason.

So what if she had a pretty face? Susu wasn’t lacking, and she was even more feminine than An Meili.

Even their names—hers was much nicer.

An Meili, how tacky!

But Susu—just hearing it made people feel all soft and tingly inside.

She sat on the sofa downstairs, frowning and plotting her next move.

Not long after, An Nan came back from walking the dog, with Fugui trotting behind.

As soon as she walked in, she saw Susu in her sexy nightgown, arms crossed, looking deeply aggrieved on the sofa.

Hearing the door, Susu turned and met An Nan’s gaze.

She snorted, lifted her chin, thrust out her chest, and even squeezed her arms together for effect.

An Nan was speechless.

What was this? The apocalypse was here, and she was still trying to compete with her over femininity?

An Nan glanced down at her own muscular, toned arms.

Did Susu really want to compete with her on who was more manly?

With these muscles, she could knock out a grown man with one punch.

She ignored Susu and headed upstairs with the dog.

The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Gu Zhiyu went downstairs to pick up breakfast, following the base’s broadcast instructions.

Even though he and An Nan didn’t eat the base’s food, they still picked up meals every day to avoid drawing attention.

As he reached the first floor, Susu poked her head out of her bedroom:

""Brother Gu, I haven’t gotten dressed yet. Could you help me pick up my breakfast?""

The way she said it was clearly meant to spark a man’s imagination.

As the most attractive woman in the base, she was well-practiced at this trick.

But Gu Zhiyu clearly wasn’t buying it.

He replied coldly, ""Get it yourself.""

Then he walked out the door.

By the time Susu, face dark with anger, got dressed and came out, she saw Gu Zhiyu carrying two meal buckets upstairs.

She clenched her fists in frustration.

So he wouldn’t help others, but he’d help An Meili?

What was with this aloof act?

Pah! He was just An Meili’s pathetic lapdog!

She mentally ran through every nasty word she could think of before finally venting her anger and heading out to get her own meal.

Today’s meal was braised pork.

Susu sat at the table with her meal bucket, eating while pondering her next move.

The boss’s orders had to be carried out.

Where else but the mountains and the base could she eat such delicious braised pork these days? There weren’t even any filler vegetables—just a big, hearty portion of meat.

Her eyes darted. Since Gu Zhiyu was completely immune to her charms—he’d already rejected her four times—she’d have to take a different approach and switch her target to An Meili.

After all, the boss simply didn’t want the two of them to get together.

If she could latch onto An Meili and keep her from getting close to Gu Youcai, that would work just as well.

Having made up her mind, she fixed her gaze on An Nan.

That day, Susu finally saw An Nan heading out to walk the dog again.

She hurried after her, determined to get closer.

Her plan was that once they were familiar, she could stick to An Meili and never give Gu Youcai a chance to be alone with her.

""An-jie, out walking the dog again?""

An Nan paused in surprise.

Wasn’t this woman relentlessly trying to seduce Gu Zhiyu?

Why wasn’t she going upstairs to find him, but following her instead?

An Nan shot Susu a wary look.

Had Susu figured out that she was using dog-walking as a cover to observe the guards’ shift changes?

Fugui, meanwhile, bared his teeth.

He really didn’t like Susu—whenever she came near, he would immediately growl low in his throat.

Susu was so scared she hid behind An Nan.

She knew this dog had killed before.

She said pitifully, ""An-jie, your dog doesn’t seem to like me?""

The implication: You’d better control your dog, or it might bite me.

Of course, An Nan wasn’t about to scold her dog for Susu’s sake. Fugui was far more precious to her than this woman.

Still, she tugged Fugui back a bit.

Susu was Hou Jianming’s person—before the birthday banquet, it was best not to cause trouble.

As she pulled the dog, An Nan asked coldly, ""How old are you?""

Susu was taken aback. Why was she asking that?

But she answered honestly, ""Twenty-seven.""

An Nan glanced at her. ""I’m twenty-two. Don’t call me ‘An-jie’ anymore.""

Susu’s face darkened.

Was she accusing her of acting cute and pretending to be younger?

She could only awkwardly reply, ""Sorry, An-meimei. I thought you were older than me.""

An Nan walked ahead with the dog, while Susu kept following, trying to make conversation.

""Meimei, I have an extra cabinet in my room that takes up a lot of space. Could you help me move it to the living room tomorrow? I can’t move it by myself.""

An Nan frowned. Was this woman just looking for something to say?

There was a grown man like Gu Zhiyu upstairs—why not ask him for help, instead of a girl like her?

She replied perfunctorily, ""Go ask Gu Youcai on the second floor. He’s stronger than me.""

Susu said, ""Sigh, he’s not easy to talk to.""

An Nan replied, ""Nonsense. He’s very kind.""

Gu Zhiyu was the most considerate man she’d ever met.

He didn’t get mad when people spread rumors about him, didn’t lose his temper when his arm was twisted, and even comforted the dog with great care.

What a good guy.

Susu’s mouth twitched.

Kind?

That cold, sharp-tongued man who even hit women?

She’d never met anyone so heartless!

Susu was about to say more when she realized they had already reached the iron gate.

Two armed guards stood there, straight as arrows."
