Chapter 177: Gu Zhiyu Descends from the Sky

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

An Nan put away her assault rifle and put on her mask, then unlocked the door layer by layer.

Light instantly flooded in from outside, gilding the tall figure in the doorway with a golden glow.

Beneath the golden light, Gu Zhiyu wore a mask, his chest rising and falling slightly. “An Nan, are you alright?”

An Nan stared at his familiar eyes, momentarily dazed.

Seeing her just staring at him without speaking, Gu Zhiyu grew anxious. His long hand reached out and touched her forehead.

“Are you running a fever?”

His voice was muffled by the mask, so he simply took it off with his other hand. “You—”

“Hey!” An Nan quickly covered his mouth with her hand when she saw what he was doing. “Are you crazy? There’s virus everywhere here!”

Gu Zhiyu fell silent, staring at her.

An Nan could feel the heat of his breath against her palm.

Their eyes met. Gu Zhiyu’s chest still heaved with each breath.

At that moment, Chu Peipei from 1401, hearing the commotion, opened her door to check.

She immediately saw one of them touching the other’s forehead, while the other covered his mouth.

“What’s this—”

Then, as if suddenly realizing something, she slammed the door shut.

“Sorry, you two carry on!”

An Nan quickly pulled her hand back.

Gu Zhiyu also withdrew his hand and put his mask back on. “You’re fine. No fever.”

An Nan looked away awkwardly. “Why did you…”

She noticed he was still slightly out of breath.

He must have run all the way up here.

An Nan couldn’t help but frown. “Running like this in broad daylight—are you trying to kill yourself?”

It was fifty-seven degrees outside, with ground temperatures hitting eighty. Even someone with the strongest heart and lungs couldn’t just run around like that.

Gu Zhiyu replied, “I heard there was an outbreak here. Lots of people died.”

He lived far from the city, untouched by the epidemic.

By the time he heard the news, many people here had already died.

“You didn’t have to…” An Nan trailed off, suddenly unable to meet his eyes. “Didn’t have to rush over like that…”

Gu Zhiyu stared at her intently. “How could I not?”

An Nan opened her mouth, unsure what to say. Looking at him closely, she felt like something was off about him.

Just then, a frantic scratching came from inside the apartment.

“Awooo! Awooo awooo awooo!”

Fugui had already caught the scent of his handsome big brother. He’d been sitting obediently by the door, waiting for his owner to let him in.

But the two of them just stood outside, talking about who knows what, and Fugui couldn’t hold back any longer.

Hearing the noise, Gu Zhiyu’s eyes softened with a smile.

“I came all this way—aren’t you going to invite me in?”

An Nan nodded, about to open the door, then suddenly remembered something.

“Wait! The place is a mess, let me tidy up first!”

With that, she closed the door in his face.

Gu Zhiyu smiled, leaning patiently against the door to wait.

An Nan hurried inside and randomly pulled out a pile of supplies from her storage space, scattering them around the rooms.

It would be bad if Gu Zhiyu saw her apartment completely empty.

After a quick tidy-up, she opened the door again. “Come in.”

Gu Zhiyu glanced at the four layers of doors and praised, “Nice. You’ve got a good sense of security.”

As soon as Fugui saw him enter, he lunged forward.

An Nan quickly called him off. “Fugui, don’t jump!”

He wasn’t the same as before—if he pounced now, he could break Gu Zhiyu’s waist.

Fugui obediently skidded to a stop, then put his front paws on Gu Zhiyu and wagged his tail.

Gu Zhiyu stared in surprise at the dog that now looked more like a big white pig.

“This is… Fugui??”

Last time he saw him, Fugui was just a medium-sized dog. In just a few months, he’d grown into a giant.

He knew Fugui was a mutant, but this growth rate was insane.

Before he could finish being surprised, a fat rabbit hopped out from behind Fugui, glaring at him with red eyes.

Gu Zhiyu eyed its muscular build. “And this is…”

An Nan introduced, “That’s my new pet, Lord Rabbit.”

Then she pointed at the big rooster sitting calmly on the sofa. “That’s Laifu.”

Gu Zhiyu’s mouth twitched. “Are you running a zoo at home?”

As he walked to the sofa, Laifu scooted over to make room for the guest.

Gu Zhiyu reached out and stroked its smooth feathers. “Not only is your chicken pretty, it’s smart too. And that rabbit… looks very healthy.”

Lord Rabbit didn’t seem pleased with this assessment and hopped over.

Before he could reach Gu Zhiyu, Fugui smacked him aside.

“Awoo, awooo awooo!”

Back off! He’s not someone you can mess with!

After scolding Lord Rabbit, Fugui jumped onto the sofa, squeezed Laifu aside, and snuggled obediently next to Gu Zhiyu.

As he stroked Fugui’s fur, Gu Zhiyu looked up at An Nan. “You’re not feeling unwell, are you?”

An Nan shook her head. “No.”

Gu Zhiyu finally relaxed.

Seeing the sweat on his forehead, An Nan got up and rummaged in the fridge. “Let me get you some mung bean soup to cool off.”

As she searched, she asked, “How did you know my exact address?”

When they’d carpooled before, she’d only mentioned the name of the neighborhood.

Gu Zhiyu lounged comfortably on the sofa. “The woman most famous for killing people in the neighborhood? Not hard to find.”

An Nan handed him the mung bean soup, protesting, “What do you mean, ‘most famous for killing people’?”

He made her sound like some kind of psycho.

Gu Zhiyu took a sip of the soup and replied, “Every time I see you, you’re busy killing someone.”

An Nan: …

She couldn’t really argue with that.

Gu Zhiyu smiled. “I heard the residents here call you the Demon Queen?”

An Nan frowned, about to say something, but suddenly stopped and looked him over carefully.

He sat on her sofa, eyes deep and cool, exuding an air of nobility—and was wearing… high-end pajamas??

She finally realized what was strange about him!

What kind of CEO goes out in pajamas?

An Nan stared at the ridiculous sight, about to tease him for being sloppy, when it suddenly hit her.

Gu Zhiyu… He’d flown a plane, wearing pajamas, and rushed down from the mountain to the epidemic zone just to see her.

An Nan suddenly felt her nose sting.

Noticing her staring, Gu Zhiyu asked, “What are you looking at?”

An Nan lowered her gaze. “Checking if you lost a shoe on the way.”

Gu Zhiyu immediately sat up straighter, a little self-conscious.

He knew An Nan was tough, and armed—no ordinary thug or bandit could hurt her.

But this was the plague.

Long Cong’an had told him many people had died.

He’d been at home watching TV when he heard the news. He didn’t even bother to change clothes, just jumped in his helicopter and came.

For the first time, he thought a helicopter was too slow."
