Chapter 181: Selling Medicine

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

An Nan parked her car to the side, turned off the engine, and leisurely watched the scene unfold.

These two people had also been selling banlangen here in her previous life. Although the quality was average and the quantity was limited, demand still far outstripped supply. They sold out in no time.

By the time An Nan heard the news and rushed over in her previous life, they barely had any stock left.

And the price was outrageous. Right now, it was twenty jin of grain for one liang of medicine, but as time went on, the price kept rising. When they were down to their last bit of stock, it shot up to fifty jin of grain for one liang of medicine.

How could she possibly have that much food? She had no choice but to give up and tough it out at home.

In the end, she relied on her strong immune system from years of working out to pull through, though she burned with fever so badly at times she thought she saw her great-grandmother.

If her body had been even a little weaker, she would have died for sure.

But in this life, not only could she afford to buy their medicine, she could even turn the tables and sell medicine to them.

An Nan leaned back in her comfortably warm car, patiently watching the scene outside.

The chaos from earlier had settled into order. People were now lining up in a long queue, following the instructions of the medicine sellers.

But the transactions were clearly not going smoothly.

Very few customers simply bought the medicine without fuss; most were chattering away, asking all sorts of questions.

“Do you have banlangen granules?”

The medicine seller replied, “You think this is a pharmacy? Granules? We only have the raw herb. Take it or leave it!”

“We don’t have any water. How are we supposed to take this?”

“Take it however you want.”

“Your price is way too high. Can you make it cheaper?”

“No way!”

“I don’t have any food on me right now. Can you give me some medicine on credit to save my life? I’ll pay you back with food as soon as I recover.”

“Get lost!”

“Banlangen isn’t even a rare herb, and it doesn’t cure much. How can you justify selling it for so much?”

“If you don’t want it, then get lost!”

The line was long, and there were plenty of people asking questions, but very few actual deals were being made.

An Nan watched as the two medicine sellers grew more and more irritable, and couldn’t help but feel her decision had been the right one.

If she had to stand here in the heat every day dealing with these customers, she’d be even more irritable than those two.

After a while, a middle-aged man reached the front of the line.

He said he wanted to check the quality of the medicine first, then suddenly snatched the herbs from the seller’s hand and bolted.

The other customers, seeing this, immediately had a change in their eyes and started to get restless.

The darker-skinned of the two medicine sellers pulled a pistol from his waist.

With a bang, the man who’d snatched the medicine was shot dead on the spot, collapsing in a pool of blood.

The crowd fell instantly silent.

The dark-skinned man raised his gun and shouted, “Anyone else who tries anything funny will end up just like him!”

Those in the line who’d been hoping to take advantage of the chaos quietly slipped away, leaving only the honest ones with food to trade, waiting in line.

An Nan wasn’t surprised by this scene.

If they dared to sell medicine out here, they must have something to rely on.

Otherwise, if people rushed them and stole all their medicine, they’d be left with nothing.

She glanced at the pistol, then took an assault rifle out of her storage space and slung it over her shoulder.

Then she continued waiting in her car.

A few hours later, An Nan was sitting in her car watching a movie when suddenly someone knocked on the driver’s side window.

She curled her lips into a smile and rolled down the window.

Outside stood the dark-skinned man.

He looked warily at the slowly lowering window, and when he saw An Nan inside, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes.

A woman? And so well-kept!

Not simple at all.

He gripped his gun even tighter, more cautious than ever.

He and his brother had been watching this armored car for a while. Ever since they’d set up shop, this car had been parked nearby, keeping an eye on them.

An Nan got out of the car with confidence.

“Not bad, sold out so quickly?”

As soon as she stepped out, the dark-skinned man immediately noticed the assault rifle slung across her back.

His expression grew even more tense.

He softened his tone. “Miss, what can I do for you?”

The lighter-skinned man came over as well.

“Miss, are you here to buy medicine? I’m sorry, but we’re sold out for today. We’ll be back tomorrow. If you need some, we can reserve some for you in advance.”

Their polite and friendly attitude was a stark contrast to how impatient they’d been with the other customers earlier.

An Nan replied, “I’m not here to buy medicine. I’m here to sell medicine.”

The two exchanged glances. “Sell medicine?”

The dark-skinned man looked nervous. “Miss, there’s huge demand for banlangen right now. There’s no need for us to compete.”

He paused, then added, “If you like this spot, we can move elsewhere tomorrow.”

He was being extremely deferential.

He had no choice—this woman was carrying an assault rifle.

From their experience, that gun was definitely real.

And this woman was impeccably dressed, her skin glowing and healthy. To look this good in the apocalypse, she clearly had skills.

An Nan smiled kindly. “You’ve misunderstood. I want to sell medicine to you.”

The two were surprised. “Sell to us?”

An Nan nodded. “I have a supply. I can wholesale the medicine to you. Are you interested?”

The two men’s tense expressions immediately eased.

The dark-skinned man’s eyes darted. “As you can see, we already have a supply.”

An Nan knew he was trying to drive the price down.

She smiled. “Since you already have enough, I won’t bother you.”

She turned to get back in her car.

“Hey!” The lighter-skinned man quickly called after her. “Don’t be in such a rush! Let’s talk it over. Business is all about negotiation.”

An Nan smiled and turned back.

With her experience from her previous life, she knew their supply wasn’t enough.

With sales this good today, they’d definitely want to get their hands on more medicine.

Now that they’d called her back, the initiative was in her hands.

An Nan smiled. “So, how do you want to talk?”

The dark-skinned man grinned and came closer. “May I ask your name, miss?”

“An. My surname is An.”

He extended his hand. “Nice to meet you, Miss An. I’m Jiang Weiming, and this is my brother Jiang Tian.”

An Nan just nodded politely. “Hello.”

Jiang Weiming didn’t mind and withdrew his hand with a smile.

“We do have our own supply, of course, but in business, it’s always wise to shop around. May I ask about the quality of your medicine, and your price?”"
