Chapter 209: Not Feeling Well
Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies
Gu Zhiyu curled his lips. “I’ll walk you home.”
An Nan replied, “I’m already at home.”
Gu Zhiyu said, “That doesn’t stop me from wanting to experience what it’s like to walk you home.”
An Nan: …
Well, when you think about it, it’s pretty rare for a couple to move in together right after getting together.
It’s romance, after all—of course you want to experience everything.
So An Nan played along, “Alright, walk me home then.”
After just a few steps, they reached her bedroom door.
An Nan waved her hand. “I’m home.”
She was about to open the door and go in when Gu Zhiyu grabbed her.
“That’s not how you walk someone home.”
An Nan raised an eyebrow. “Then how should you do it?”
Gu Zhiyu pulled her into his arms, hugged her, and then lowered his head to give her a gentle kiss.
“Like this.”
An Nan felt her face and ears burning.
“You know, you look so cool and restrained, but when it comes to dating, you’re so clingy!”
Gu Zhiyu pursed his lips and hugged her tighter. “Are you tired of it?”
An Nan: “…No.”
The two of them cuddled for a while longer before finally parting and going to their own rooms.
The next morning, An Nan woke up feeling refreshed and found that the rain outside had finally stopped.
It was just like in her previous life—the endless rain suddenly came to a halt.
A lot of people thought the acid rain was over and rushed outside to look for supplies, only for the rain to start up again soon after. Many didn’t make it back in time and died.
The rain kept coming and going like this for over a month before it finally ended for good.
Now that the rain had just stopped, it was still eerily quiet outside. Everyone was waiting and watching, not daring to go out recklessly.
An Nan came out of her bedroom and was surprised to find that Gu Zhiyu, for once, hadn’t gotten up yet.
He always woke up before her and had breakfast ready in advance.
But today was different.
That was fine by her, though. They’d eaten way too much barbecue yesterday, and An Nan was still feeling a bit sick of it. She didn’t want a big breakfast this morning—just a simple, comforting bowl of noodles.
After getting herself ready, she fed Fugui and the others first.
Then she went to the kitchen, found two small plates of pickles, and made two bowls of tomato and egg noodles.
The tomatoes had been frozen in the fridge. She tossed them into the pot, gave them a quick stir-fry until they broke down, then added water, turning it into a rich tomato broth.
She sprinkled in some salt, added two handfuls of thin noodles, and once they were cooked, poured in some beaten eggs to make egg ribbons.
Just before serving, she scattered some chopped scallions on top. Two steaming bowls of tomato and egg noodles were ready.
She set the noodles and chopsticks on the table, then went to knock on Gu Zhiyu’s door.
“Gu Zhiyu, breakfast’s ready.”
It took a while before he answered, “Coming.”
Gu Zhiyu came out of his room without a word and sat down at the table.
No flirting today?
An Nan glanced at him in surprise and greeted him first, “Morning.”
Gu Zhiyu seemed a bit out of it. “Morning.”
Seeing the noodles soaking in the soup, An Nan didn’t ask further and quickly sat down.
“Let’s eat.”
She took a few bites of noodles and a big sip of hot soup, then noticed that Gu Zhiyu across from her was eating slowly and listlessly.
“What’s wrong? Not to your taste?” she asked.
Gu Zhiyu glanced at her. “No.”
After a moment, he added, “I’m just not feeling well.”
An Nan looked at him with concern. “Where do you feel unwell?”
Gu Zhiyu replied, “It’s nothing serious, just a bit of a cold.”
An Nan frowned at him.
He wasn’t coughing or sniffling—didn’t seem like a cold.
She reached out and felt his forehead. No fever either.
But he did look a bit out of sorts. Could it be something more serious?
Just as An Nan was about to say something else, a piercing scream came from outside the window.
They both turned to look. It had started drizzling again.
Just from the screams outside, they could tell—it was acid rain again.
An Nan sighed.
A lot of people were going to be in trouble.
She turned back, about to ask Gu Zhiyu more about how he was feeling, only to see him now eating his noodles with great appetite.
“You’re feeling better?” An Nan asked.
Just a moment ago, he was picking at his food like a shy maiden, and now he was wolfing it down?
Gu Zhiyu took a sip of soup. “Yeah. Eat up.”
An Nan shot him a strange look but started eating as well.
Soon, the two bowls of noodles and two plates of pickles were polished off.
An Nan got up to clear the dishes, but Gu Zhiyu reached out and took them from her.
“You rest, I’ll do it.”
An Nan said, “But you—”
Then, as if something dawned on her, she shut her mouth and watched Gu Zhiyu take the dishes to wash.
When he finished and came to sit beside her on the sofa, An Nan raised an eyebrow and asked,
“If you’re not feeling well, why aren’t you lying down in your room?”
Gu Zhiyu hugged her. “I want to be with you.”
An Nan said, “You’ve got a cold—aren’t you afraid of giving it to me?”
Gu Zhiyu paused. “I won’t…”
An Nan pinched him. “Gu Zhiyu! Are you faking being sick just to be with me?!”
Gu Zhiyu awkwardly tried to pull away. “How did you know?”
An Nan said, “You’re as strong as an ox—since when would a cold make you lose your appetite?”
And most importantly…
“The moment the rain stopped, you dropped the act! You ate those noodles even faster than me!”
Gu Zhiyu dodged, “That just means you’re a great cook.”
An Nan started pummeling him with her fists.
“You sly, lying man!”
Gu Zhiyu just laughed, letting her hit him without dodging at all.
After a while, seeing that An Nan was getting tired, he took her hand and pulled her into his arms again.
“An An, I just can’t bear to leave you.”
When he woke up that morning and saw the rain had stopped, he started to panic.
He was afraid An Nan would make him go back.
She’d only just agreed to be with him. Their relationship wasn’t fully stable yet—he didn’t want to go anywhere.
An Nan rolled her eyes at him. “When did I ever say I’d kick you out as soon as the rain stopped?”
Gu Zhiyu pursed his lips. “You never know. You’re always avoiding me.”
An Nan said, “That’s because I was…”
Shy.
But those two words would never come out of her mouth—a woman as tough as an eagle.
She rolled her eyes at him again. “Stop guessing what I’m thinking!”
Gu Zhiyu: “Got it.”
An Nan was still scolding him, “If you ever—”
Before she could finish, Gu Zhiyu silenced her with a kiss.
An Nan only resisted for a few seconds before giving in.
Young couples can never get enough of each other. Even someone as cool and aloof as An Nan was no exception.
Outside, the rain pattered on. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and intimate.
For the next few days, the two of them were completely wrapped up in their love.
They lazed around on the sofa together every day, even slacking off on their training.
Though their relationship was progressing by leaps and bounds, An Nan eventually put her hands on her hips and declared,
“We can’t keep going on like this!”"
