Chapter 224: This Is My Benefactor’s Dog

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

An Nan nodded.

Other than her, who would know that a snowmobile could actually be useful? After all, you can’t eat it, you can’t drink it, and you can’t trade it for supplies. Of course no one else would bother hauling it away.

The man, afraid An Nan wouldn’t be interested, kept enthusiastically pitching it:

“I spent 230,000 yuan on this snowmobile when I bought it—it’s top of the line! Back in the day, if a thief broke into this place, this would be the first thing they’d steal. Who’d care about those cookies or instant noodles?”

An Nan waved her hand, cutting him off. “Like you said, times have changed. No matter how valuable this thing used to be, it’s useless now.”

The man got anxious when he heard that. He’d come all this way—he couldn’t let this deal fall through!

So he quickly offered, “I can sell it to you cheap.”

“How much food?” An Nan asked.

He gritted his teeth. “Ten jin of grain. That’s the lowest I can go!”

This was his favorite vehicle, even more than his Mercedes. If he was going to part with it, he at least wanted a month’s worth of rations in return. Even if she wasn’t willing, he had to try.

An Nan had been thinking of bargaining him down, but seeing how pained he looked, she couldn’t bring herself to push further.

When the extreme cold hit, she could probably trade this snowmobile for a thousand jin of food in the rich district. He’d probably faint from regret then.

So she nodded readily. “Deal.”

The man let out a huge sigh of relief.

He’d thought he’d have to haggle for a few more rounds, but this beautiful woman was so straightforward.

He nodded enthusiastically and asked, “Miss, I also have snow tracks—do you want those?”

An Nan was puzzled. “Snow tracks? What are those?”

The man squatted down, pulled off a tarp covering a pile of miscellaneous stuff, and dug out what he was talking about from the corner.

“These are a new gadget I bought before. You don’t need to modify your car’s original tires—just put these tracks on the ground, drive your car onto them, fasten the clips, and your regular car instantly becomes a snow vehicle.”

An Nan looked at the four huge snow tracks in front of her, her heart skipping a beat.

It was like putting snow boots on her car’s four wheels!

This was great—it meant her beloved car could still be used in the snow and ice. In extreme cold, regular all-season or even snow tires wouldn’t cut it.

She was thrilled inside, but kept her expression neutral so he wouldn’t notice anything.

She said indifferently, “It’s so hot right now, and there’s no snow. What would I want these for?”

Of course the man understood.

But it was rare to meet such a generous customer—he couldn’t let her go easily.

“You like winter and snow, don’t you? With the way things are now, who knows if we’ll ever see snow again. When you miss it, you could look at these snow tracks…”

He trailed off, realizing how ridiculous that sounded, and shot An Nan a guilty glance.

To his surprise, An Nan nodded slowly. “That… actually makes some sense.”

The man was overjoyed. This woman was so easy to persuade, and she had this inexplicable nostalgia for winter. He started pitching even harder:

“Exactly! You won’t find these anywhere else. Where can you get winter gear like this nowadays? And mine are all top quality…”

An Nan made up her mind. “Give me a discount and I’ll take them.”

The man nodded eagerly. “Discount, discount! Just one jin of rice is fine.”

An Nan gave him a sidelong glance. “One jin of rice isn’t exactly cheap.”

The man said, “I paid a lot for these back then too…”

An Nan was about to get nine tons of grain, so she couldn’t be bothered to haggle with him and waste time she could use to fetch the water tanker. So she said,

“Whatever else you have, throw it in, and I’ll give you one jin of rice for the lot.”

The man looked back.

What else…

Didn’t seem like he had anything good left—he’d already taken anything useful.

So he said, “Everything here, you can have it all, okay?”

An Nan glanced around and didn’t bother arguing. “Alright, come with me to the car to get your food.”

Downstairs, An Nan took out eleven jin of mixed grains from her car.

The man took the heavy bag of food, stuffed it excitedly into his black backpack that he’d prepared in advance.

An Nan was in a good mood too. For just eleven jin of grain, she’d gotten a super useful snowmobile and snow tracks.

Both sides felt like they’d gotten a great deal and parted ways satisfied.

“Miss, do you want me to help you carry the stuff downstairs?” the man offered.

An Nan waved him off. “No need, you can go. My boyfriend will be here soon with people to help move it.”

The man nodded and left.

Even though his backpack was heavy, his steps grew lighter and quicker.

First, he was afraid the “sucker” would change her mind. Second, it was dangerous out here—he needed to get the food home fast.

Once he was gone, An Nan went back upstairs and stored the snowmobile and snow tracks in her space.

She didn’t even bother looking at the other junk—just took it all.

Meanwhile, in the hillside villa district—

Long Cong’an, who was on his way up the mountain to do his routine cleaning for the boss, suddenly heard a car horn behind him.

He turned and saw a familiar Hummer.

A delighted smile broke out on his face. “President Gu!”

Gu Zhiyu rolled down the window. “Get in.”

Long Cong’an hurried around to the passenger seat and got in.

“President Gu, lately you—”

Before he could finish, he suddenly felt like there were eyes staring at him from the back seat.

He turned around.

“Whoa!” Long Cong’an jumped in fright.

“This pig is…?”

Gu Zhiyu’s lips curled. “Fugui. Your benefactor’s dog.”

Long Cong’an was dumbfounded. “What?!”

This was… a dog? His benefactor’s dog??

But he remembered his benefactor had a funny-looking little French bulldog!

This was clearly a big white pig!

Fugui gave him a disdainful look, then turned around and pointed its butt at him.

Gu Zhiyu chuckled. “Don’t mess with it. It could bite your head off in one go.”

Long Cong’an’s mouth twitched. “That… that fierce? I guess pets really do resemble their owners. This pig—this dog really has my benefactor’s presence.”

Fugui couldn’t be bothered with him and even let out a fart.

It was loud and stinky. Luckily, they’d already arrived home. Gu Zhiyu quickly got out, bringing Fugui and Long Cong’an into the villa.

It was the dog’s first time at Gu Zhiyu’s house. Seeing how luxurious, spacious, and bright it was, it immediately started running around happily, exploring everywhere.

Long Cong’an asked in surprise, “President Gu, where’s my benefactor?”

He remembered the dog was always with his benefactor—how could she trust President Gu to take care of it alone?

Gu Zhiyu sat on the sofa. “She’s out on business.”

Long Cong’an’s eyes lit up as he thought of something. “President Gu, are you two together now?”

Gu Zhiyu smiled. “Mm.”"
