Chapter 229: The Time in the Space Has Increased

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

Fugui had already curled up on its little bed when Annan called out, startling it. It let out a disgruntled whine.

Annan patted it. “We forgot about Laifu!”

Fugui guiltily looked away.

Annan paused, noticing its reaction.

She raised an eyebrow. “Silly dog, did you remember earlier and just not say anything?”

Fugui turned its back, pretending not to hear.

That annoying ugly chicken—so what if they forgot it? Was it supposed to remind its owner to bring the chicken home?

Annan shot it a look. “You sure are scheming.”

She got up to get dressed. “I need to go pick it up.”

Annan’s movements woke Gu Zhiyu in the next room.

The two met in the living room.

After Annan explained, Gu Zhiyu also went to change. “I forgot about Laifu too. Let’s go together.”

As soon as Chu Peipei opened her door, they saw Laifu in the middle of the living room, standing with its wings on its hips, looking utterly resentful.

Annan apologized awkwardly, “Peipei-jie, I forgot to take it home…”

Chu Peipei laughed. “Hahaha, it’s fine. It’s been doing great here.”

The big rooster held its head high, strutting to the door, glaring at its owner with deep displeasure.

This chicken wanted a bit of freedom, sure.

But this was too much freedom, wasn’t it?

Did you just abandon me??

Gu Zhiyu squatted down and picked it up, covering its accusing eyes.

“I know you’re upset. But don’t be sad just yet.”

Laifu: ……

Annan said goodbye to Chu Peipei. “Peipei-jie, we’ll head back now. You get some rest.”

Chu Peipei: “Good night.”

At Chu Peipei’s feet, the hen Xiaobai and chick Xiaohuang stared unblinkingly as Laifu left.

The two humans and one chicken returned to 1402.

When Fugui saw Gu Zhiyu holding Laifu, it immediately looked disappointed.

The ugly chicken is back already?

Can’t shake off this nemesis!

Gu Zhiyu let go of Laifu’s face, and Laifu immediately shot Annan another accusatory look.

So Gu Zhiyu covered its face again.

After a few rounds of this, Laifu finally gave in.

It lowered its proud head and obediently snuggled up to Annan.

Gu Zhiyu watched, satisfied, and handed the chicken over to Annan.

Annan was surprised. “You’re pretty good at training pets!”

Gu Zhiyu smiled. “I can’t control people, but I can still handle a pet or two.”

Annan raised an eyebrow. “Who says you can’t control people?”

Gu Zhiyu shrugged. “Not at all. I’m the one being controlled.”

Annan burst out laughing and gave him a playful punch.

Gu Zhiyu: ……

“Can you change your way of acting cute?”

After some playful chaos with their three pets, Annan took the dog back to the bedroom.

Before bed, she slipped into her space to check the progress of the water tanker.

With all the villa’s taps running, the water was filling up quickly—it was almost full.

So she didn’t go to bed yet. She let Fugui out to drink from the spiritual spring outside the villa, and went to the bathroom for a bath herself.

By the time Annan finished her relaxing soak, the water tanker was full.

She hurried over to turn off the water.

After all the chores, there were only ten minutes left—today’s one-hour limit was almost up.

She went straight to the massage chair on the first floor, set it for ten minutes, and enjoyed a massage with her remaining time.

Ten minutes later, the massage ended.

But Annan wasn’t kicked out of the space.

She sat up, puzzled. What’s going on?

At that moment, Fugui, who’d been outside, ran in.

Dogs are more sensitive to time than humans.

It was used to being kicked out when time was up, but today, it was still in the space.

So it ran over, looking at its owner in confusion.

Annan was even more baffled than the dog.

“Did I get the time wrong?”

The dog shook its head firmly.

Annan kept an eye on the time. Another five minutes passed.

Still, both of them were there.

She glanced at her watch, and suddenly had a flash of insight. “Wait! Did the time limit just increase?!”

Her heart started pounding.

She waited another fifteen minutes, and only then were she and the dog kicked out of the space.

Back in the bedroom, Annan and Fugui stared at each other for a few seconds.

Then, inside, Annan let out a groundhog scream.

She’d gotten a whole twenty extra minutes in the space today!

That eighty million yuan jade was incredible!

Not only had it upgraded her blink distance by thirty-five meters, it also gave her an extra twenty minutes inside the space?

Don’t underestimate those twenty minutes—at a critical moment, even a minute or two could be priceless.

After the excitement, Annan started pondering the upgrade pattern of the space.

At first, collecting jade increased the area of the space. Once the area was big enough, it started upgrading the blink distance.

Now that the distance had reached a hundred meters, it was upgrading the time limit!

Annan wondered, if she fed the space more jade, would it upgrade both distance and time, or just time?

Based on the previous pattern, it should only upgrade the time now, right?

She really wanted to find another piece of jade to experiment.

At this moment, Annan’s desire to collect jade was at an all-time high.

The next morning, Annan woke up early, full of energy.

Gu Zhiyu was still asleep. In a good mood, she went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

By the time Gu Zhiyu got up, the table was already covered with a delicious spread.

Shrimp and egg custard, savory pancakes, stir-fried shredded potatoes, ham and tofu soup.

Gu Zhiyu looked at the table in surprise. “Why are you up so early today?”

Annan joked, “I just got an eighteen-million-yuan necklace yesterday. Of course I have to act like a perfect housewife today!”

Gu Zhiyu laughed. “Is that a hint? Looks like I’ll have to give you gifts more often.”

Annan: “Trying to win me over with sweet bribes, President Gu?”

Gu Zhiyu: “I have to. My girlfriend is too practical.”

Annan raised an eyebrow. “And you still want to be with someone so practical?”

Gu Zhiyu: “That’s exactly my type.”

Annan burst out laughing. “Enough with the jokes, come eat.”

After breakfast, as Annan was clearing the dishes, she said,

“Reporting to my boyfriend: I’m going out to meet two people. I’ll be back in the afternoon.”

Gu Zhiyu took the bowl from her. “Any men?”

Annan thought for a moment and answered honestly, “Yes. Both of them.”

Gu Zhiyu glanced at her. “Will you still love me after seeing them?”

Annan raised an eyebrow. “I will.”

Gu Zhiyu smiled. “Then go on, don’t keep them waiting.”

Annan looked at him, amused. “I thought you’d be jealous.”

Gu Zhiyu washed the dishes seriously. “As long as my girlfriend doesn’t run away, you have absolute freedom.”

Annan teased, “What if I do run away?”

Gu Zhiyu looked back at her. “Then I’ll have to go all possessive on you.”

Annan laughed. “You’ve been watching too many melodramatic romance dramas lately. Time to switch to documentaries tomorrow!”"
