Chapter 3: Get Lost, You're Blocked
Natural Disasters and the End of the World
The message was from Bai Wenbin.
""Nan Nan, I've moved in right across from Ying'er. We're neighbors now!""
""I sincerely invite you all to come over to 801 tomorrow night. I'll cook a few dishes to celebrate.""
An Nan glanced at the messages, deleted him as a friend, and blocked him.
You people killed me, and now you want to invite me to your housewarming dinner?
Shameless!
You bastard, one day you'll get what's coming to you!
An Nan took a deep breath: Don't let this scumbag ruin your mood.
Don't get angry—anger only harms yourself!
She started the car and headed to the snack street she’d visited earlier that day.
Dinner would be sorted outside again. After all, once the apocalypse hit, there’d be no more eating out.
She found a barbecue place and ate to her heart’s content. Then she packed up a bunch of skewers, sneaking them into her storage space back in the car.
Afterwards, she bought a bubble tea and strolled from shop to shop.
Although she’d already stocked up enough food, after the apocalypse, she’d never get to eat these delicious treats again.
An Nan loved experimenting with food, so her cooking skills weren’t bad.
But there were plenty of things you just couldn’t replicate at home.
Spicy hotpot, rice noodles, snail noodles, crayfish, pizza, burgers, cake, jianbing, soup dumplings, bubble tea...
She bought 100 portions of each of her favorites.
That pretty much emptied out the last of her money.
An Nan did the math: 540,000 yuan at the farmer’s market, 280,000 on wholesale clothes, 140,000 on daily necessities, and the rest all went to snacks.
She still wasn’t done stocking up, and the money was already gone! She hadn’t even bought any luxury goods—just daily essentials, and a million yuan was gone in a flash.
But she wasn’t worried at all. She already had an idea for making more money.
There’s never a shortage of fat cats to fleece in this world...
Tomorrow, she’d go fleece some rich folks!
It was late now, and all the shops were closed. Time to go home and rest.
She checked the piles of supplies in her storage space with her mind—feeling a huge sense of security.
With the coming disaster of unknown duration, having plenty of supplies was her greatest confidence.
At this rate, she’d be able to buy everything on her list before the torrential rains arrived.
Feeling much more relaxed, An Nan drove home.
Meanwhile, Bai Wenbin—
He’d waited a long time but still hadn’t gotten a reply from An Nan, so he sent another message with a smiley face.
But a red exclamation mark popped up.
""The other party is not your friend. Please send a friend request first.""
???
Bai Wenbin stared in shock.
What’s going on...
Although An Nan had never accepted his advances, thanks to his cousin Qian Ying’er, she’d always been polite to him.
Why did she suddenly delete him?
He tried to add her back, but couldn’t.
Did she block me?
Bai Wenbin: ...
What did I do to offend her?
He thought and thought, but couldn’t figure it out.
He’d always treated An Nan with patience and kindness.
He hadn’t succeeded in winning her over, but he believed in persistence. Girls are emotional creatures—sooner or later, she’d be moved by him.
So he kept sending warmth her way, carefully maintaining boundaries so as not to make her uncomfortable.
It was a hassle, but he thought it was worth it.
The first time he saw An Nan, he thought she was beautiful.
Not just the usual youthful prettiness, but a kind of noble, relaxed elegance—clearly a privileged heiress.
His cousin had told him that the company they interned at in their senior year belonged to An Nan’s family.
She didn’t have any shares or a position yet, but as an only child, she’d inherit it all eventually.
A low-key heiress with exquisite features—she was his ideal marriage partner.
The more he thought about it, the less he could let her go.
He quickly called his cousin: ""Ying’er, An Nan blocked me. Can you find out what’s going on?""
""Blocked you? Why?""
""I don’t know, that’s why I need you to ask her.""
""Okay, got it.""
Qian Ying’er hung up, looking annoyed.
That An Nan is so annoying! Just because her family has some money, what’s she got to be so smug about?
Sure, she’s pretty, but what’s so great about that cold face?
While other girls in college joined arts clubs, she went and learned Sanda (Chinese kickboxing)!
She’s nearly 1.7 meters tall, not delicate at all, and she swings her fists like a pro.
How could she compare to me, Qian Ying’er, cute and charming?
If it weren’t for her family’s money, how could An Nan, just an undergrad, be worthy of my PhD cousin?
Her cousin was cultured and outstanding, with plenty of girls chasing after him at school.
But this bitch just doesn’t know what’s good for her!
That’s what she thought, but Qian Ying’er still obediently picked up her phone and messaged An Nan.
Her cousin had promised that once he got together with An Nan, he’d move up in the world, and help her find a rich husband too.
Otherwise, she’d never have put up with being An Nan’s little sidekick.
Once she found a husband richer than An Nan’s family, she’d make sure to step all over her!
An Nan had just walked in the door when she saw Qian Ying’er’s message.
""Dearest Nan Nan~ What are you up to?""
Clearly sent to fish for information for Bai.
Such a loving pair of siblings.
An Nan snorted and unceremoniously blocked her too.
""Dearest,"" huh? Disgusting.
All through college, Qian Ying’er had clung to her like glue.
Always ""Nan Nan"" this, ""Nan Nan"" that.
If she hadn’t overheard her words before she died in her last life, An Nan would never have guessed that Qian Ying’er had been jealous of her from the very first meeting.
A born actress! What a waste she didn’t go into showbiz.
After blocking both siblings, her phone felt so much cleaner.
No point wasting time on them—the real drama was yet to come.
After a busy day, An Nan put on some music, enjoyed a relaxing bath, then turned off the lights and lay down on her long-missed, comfortable bed, planning for tomorrow.
The most important thing was safety.
Once the apocalypse hit, she’d have to deal with not only natural disasters, but also crazed survivors.
Neighbors who seemed friendly would, as supplies dwindled, reveal the worst in human nature.
Breaking and entering, home invasions. The strong would band together, the weak would be bullied.
Last time, even though she knew Sanda and could fight, she was still injured by intruders who broke into her home.
This time, she’d be prepared...
With her plans for tomorrow in place, An Nan, exhausted from the day, drifted off to sleep.
Ever since the apocalypse loomed, she hadn’t slept so soundly and comfortably—society was stable, neighbors were peaceful, and she didn’t have to worry about armed men breaking in while she slept.
Moonlight spilled softly over An Nan’s beautiful sleeping face.
""Thud, thud, thud—""
Just as she’d fallen asleep, a banging sound startled her awake.
Four years of post-apocalyptic survival had made her hyper-alert; she shot upright instantly.
What was that sound?
Listening closely, it seemed to come from downstairs—a chopping sound, like someone hacking bones.
Who’d be chopping ribs in the middle of the night? Just order takeout!
An Nan hated this kind of noise. In the later stages of the apocalypse, when food ran out, people started eating corpses.
That was exactly the sound made when bodies were crudely butchered...
Though it was still peacetime and nothing so horrifying would happen, it was impossible to sleep with that racket.
She waited a while, but the noise continued.
An Nan rubbed her goosebump-covered arms, got dressed, and went downstairs.
Did this happen in her last life too? She hadn’t noticed...
She lived in 1402. When she got downstairs, she saw that the door to 1301 was open.
A buzz-cut guy in pajamas was already pounding on the door of 1302.
""Enough already! It’s the middle of the night—don’t you people want to sleep?!""
It instantly went quiet inside.
After a while, just as the buzz-cut guy and An Nan were about to leave, the door opened a crack.
A greasy, bloated face peeked out."
