Chapter 92: The Brat
Natural Disasters and the End of the World
Chu Peipei: ""Nannan, thank goodness you showed up in time!""
As she spoke, she glanced around.
""It looks like we’re the first victims. There aren’t any other cars here, and there’s barely any supplies.""
An Nan saw her slightly disappointed expression and teased,
""What, you wish there were more victims?""
Chu Peipei blushed. ""Of course not! I just feel like we fought for nothing and didn’t get anything out of it…""
She was just getting addicted to robbing the robbers.
Zhao Ping’an stood nearby, looking at An Nan with open admiration.
""Idol, you’re seriously amazing! Not only are you pretty and tough, but you can drive like a pro too! Do you even have any flaws?""
An Nan shamelessly replied, ""No flaws at all!""
Zhao Ping’an and Chu Peipei’s car was already out of commission.
Instead of searching everywhere for new tires or fixing broken windows, it made more sense to just find a new car.
An Nan asked, ""Is there anything left in your car?""
They both shook their heads. ""We’d just set out, hadn’t even started looking for gas yet! We used up the metal drum yesterday, and we were just about to look for another one. Now we have to find a car first!""
An Nan started her car. ""No worries. I’ll give you a lift while we look—it’ll be faster that way.""
She needed to hit the mall anyway, so they’d have plenty of chances to find a new ride along the way.
""Thanks, idol!""
""Thank you, Nannan!""
Chu Peipei sat in the car, looking around at the luxurious interior, unable to help but sigh inwardly.
Nannan really was from a rich family—even her car was one she’d never seen on the road before.
But a beast like this must guzzle gas.
How many liters per hundred kilometers did it burn?
She definitely couldn’t afford to drive something like this. Her little minivan was much more economical.
Just as she was thinking this, she suddenly spotted a silver-gray Wuling Hongguang parked by the roadside.
Chu Peipei’s eyes lit up. ""Nannan, that one’s good! The legendary Wuling—tough, reliable, and tons of cargo space!""
An Nan had noticed the car too.
Hearing Chu Peipei’s praise, she thought, Great minds think alike!
Her very first car had been a Wuling too.
An Nan pulled over and let them out.
Zhao Ping’an circled the Wuling, checking it inside and out, and was very satisfied.
""This one’s in better shape than our last car, and there’s still over half a tank of gas!""
An Nan was curious. ""You can start it without the keys?""
Zhao Ping’an grinned. ""Piece of cake! Idol, you go do your thing, leave this to me!""
An Nan nodded. ""Be careful, you two.""
Then she started her car and drove off.
Following her map, she headed to another mall to continue yesterday’s unfinished business.
There were clearly more people in the mall today than yesterday.
More and more people were starting to realize what was happening, and were coming out at night, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures to look for a way to survive.
But the jewelry counters were still deserted.
Unlike the food court on the fifth floor, which was packed.
Even though all the food was spoiled, there were still plenty of bottled drinks and mineral water.
The bottles were sealed, but not perfectly—after soaking in floodwater for so long, dirty water had seeped in through tiny gaps between the cap and the bottle.
There were visible impurities floating in the bottled water.
But no one cared.
At least there was something to drink.
They’d even drunk floodwater with corpses floating in it before!
Anyone who couldn’t handle the bacteria was already dead. The ones who’d survived all had iron stomachs and bodies of steel by now.
Everyone looking for supplies was crowded into the supermarket on the first floor and the food court on the fifth.
An Nan was having a great time looting the jewelry counters on the second floor all by herself.
In just a few minutes, she’d cleaned them out.
At this rate, she could sweep through mall after mall.
Whenever she drove past a jewelry store, she’d stop in for a quick raid.
She kept herself busy like this for most of the night, and the range of her spatial ability had already upgraded to 47 meters.
Leaving the mall, An Nan shook out her sore hands and headed toward where she’d parked.
Before she reached her car, she saw a skinny little boy, holding a rock, vigorously scratching at her beloved car.
She frowned and quickened her pace.
""What do you think you’re doing?""
The boy was startled by her sudden voice and turned around.
When he saw a pretty big sister, he immediately grinned. ""I’m drawing!""
Drawing?
An Nan’s face darkened.
Whose brat was this, drawing on someone else’s car?
Good thing she’d brought the Black Knight today—if it had been her Wuling or her RV, they’d be scratched to pieces by now!
An Nan grabbed him and yanked him away from her car.
""Get lost!""
She had zero patience for kids.
Especially dirty, ugly ones like this.
Even if she saw a cute kid running wild in the street, she wouldn’t give them a second glance.
Unlike dogs—no matter how ugly or cute, if they wagged their tails at her, she’d have to go over and give them a pat.
Back in her car, An Nan took out a few buns, getting ready to eat ""lunch"" and recharge a bit.
But then she heard an ear-piercing scraping sound from outside.
She rolled down the window and saw the kid was still there.
One hand picking his nose, the other still scratching her car with the rock.
An Nan’s face turned black. ""Didn’t you hear me tell you to get lost? Where are your parents?""
The boy grinned, revealing a mouthful of rotten teeth.
""Please don’t disturb my drawing!""
He kept scratching at her car with the rock, muttering,
""What a crappy car! Why won’t it scratch?""
Damn it!
Enough is enough!
An Nan flung open the car door and slammed into the kid hard.
He fell over, clutching his head and wailing.
His already sallow, malnourished face looked even uglier when he cried.
An Nan picked him up in disgust and tossed him a bit farther away.
Just then, a shout came from behind, getting closer:
""Hey! What’s your problem? How can you bully a little kid?""
A white SUV pulled up, windows wide open. The driver shouted as he parked.
A bespectacled man got out, walking over as he spoke:
""Miss, please stop your unreasonable behavior!""
An Nan couldn’t be bothered with him. She grabbed the boy and warned him,
""Come near my car again and I’ll kill you.""
The boy was so scared by her icy glare that he burst into loud sobs.
Annoyed, An Nan flicked his forehead. ""Shut up!""
He immediately fell silent.
An Nan finally let him go and turned to head back to her car.
But the man with glasses wouldn’t let it go.
""Stop right there! What’s wrong with you, young lady? You look so pretty—how can you bully a child?""
He reached out, trying to stop her.
Enough already?
An Nan, thoroughly fed up, spun around, grabbed his arm, and threw him hard over her shoulder, slamming him to the ground.
The man cried out in pain, ""Ow, ow!""
An Nan kicked him.
""Say another word and I’ll kill you both!""
With that, she got back in her car and continued eating her buns.
She hated nothing more than being interrupted while she was eating!
As she chewed, she started counting the days in her head.
Was her period coming?
Why was she feeling so irritable?!"
