Chapter 3: Storage Capsule

Picking Up Trash in Another World and Bringing It Back to the Apocalypse

""XX, b-but I think I want to organize my storage capsule first.""

Sang Chu saw that Hua Xi was a bit embarrassed and didn’t know what to say, so she led her toward the storage area, saying as they walked:

""I’ll show you how to use it first, but don’t rush to go out, okay? Your health is the most important thing.""

""Mm, I know, XX.""

Maybe it was Sang Chu’s earlier attitude, or maybe it was because she was a woman—anyway, as long as it was something she could give, Hua Xi just kept handing things over to her.

""This is your storage capsule. Hold onto it. Originally, we were supposed to use nicknames for these, but since I see you’re brave enough to survive alone in the wild, I’ll let you use your real name for registration. But just so you know, there’s a fee for this. I’ll let you use it on credit for now, and deduct the cost from your future earnings. The price is half of what it costs outside.""

""This is a storage box. You can put anything inside. The manual is on the light screen. When you’re resting, take some time to read it. There’s also a physiological inhibitor—every girl needs one in the wild! With it, you won’t have to deal with your period!""

""There are also three laser knives in here. One is a cold light blade—you can use it to freeze monsters or obstacles when you’re escaping. One is an earth blade, which can create traps or dig caves, and it’s very stable in all aspects. The last one is a flame blade, which can be used to attack monsters or start a fire when you’re outdoors. The tutorials for all these are on the light screen, so check them out when you get back.""

Hua Xi chattered on as she packed everything into the storage capsule and handed it to Sang Chu.

Sang Chu’s voice was a little choked as she said, ""Thank you.""

Hua Xi was taken aback, then smiled, ""No need to thank me. These are all necessities for surviving outside, and they all cost money. I’m just letting you use them first, but you’ll have to pay me back later—don’t even think about running away!""

Hua Xi playfully pointed a finger at Sang Chu, only to see Sang Chu reply seriously, ""I won’t. As soon as I earn enough, I’ll pay you back.""

""Alright, I believe you. That’s all for now. I can’t give you any more stuff for free, but I’ve stored everything in your light screen. Oh, and don’t forget this—this is a field storage device. You can use it to store food, water, and clothes, but the space is limited, so use it wisely.""

Taking the storage device, Sang Chu nodded and, after thanking her again, slowly walked back to her own quarters.

Sang Chu thought, ""The people here are really nice and kind.""

Tu You said, ""That’s why you should treat them well too!""

""Mm.""

Back in her own room, Sang Chu realized just how nice the environment was—so nice that she wanted to just collapse onto the bed and not care about anything.

But she knew she couldn’t.

She walked to the fridge, opened it, and the sight of all that food made her mouth water.

Tu You said, ""Wipe your drool, it’s about to drip on the floor!""

Ignoring Tu You’s teasing, Sang Chu took out a big watermelon, sliced it open, and started eating in big bites.

So sweet!

After the apocalypse, food became scarcer and scarcer. What she got was either expired or moldy.

Later, when Mu Xue caught the eye of someone in the group who tried to assault her, a fight broke out, and after that, the food they got was always expired or moldy.

It was all rotten, full of maggots.

Now that she finally had something normal to eat, she wasn’t going to hold back.

After a while, Sang Chu was sitting on the floor, holding her stomach and burping nonstop.

*Burp~*

Tu You, squatting on the ground and surveying the mess and the thoroughly stuffed Sang Chu, said sympathetically:

""You really act like a starving ghost reincarnated, after what you went through in the apocalypse.""

*Burp~*

""Yeah, I’m full. Time to head out.""

Tu You, seeing her like this, suddenly felt a little guilty for always rushing her, ""Why don’t you rest a bit first?""

Tu You wasn’t in a hurry anymore, but Sang Chu was.

She didn’t know how much time she had left. She needed to pay Hua Xi back for all the things she’d given her, and she needed to buy good equipment to prepare for her return to the apocalypse.

Mu Xue and Lu Min would definitely go looking for her.

But she’d be gone for a month, and she didn’t know if they could survive that long. So she needed medicine.

But that stuff was too expensive, and she couldn’t waste any time.

The armor was too heavy and uncomfortable, so she just threw it into the storage capsule. She also tossed in some clean clothes.

Anyway, the storage capsule was for her alone, so she could use as much space as she wanted.

Water was essential.

She put all the food into the storage device, and also stored a lot in the capsule, planning to hole up for a long time if needed.

Once everything was ready, she left her room and followed the directions on the light screen to the main gate.

Outside the City

When Sang Chu released the storage capsule, she looked back at City A.

Its walls were snow-white and tall, like a giant bucket protecting everyone inside.

""If I had more money, I’d want to buy a house-building device too.""

Tu You said, ""Then you’d better work hard! All the houses in this mutated world are built with light energy. As long as you buy a house-builder, you can build your own base when you return to the apocalypse.""

Even though it was big, Sang Chu still managed to eat it all.

Sitting inside the storage capsule, she activated the self-driving mode and headed out into the wild.

Sang Chu held the physiological inhibitor in her hand and, following the instructions on the light screen, put it on her wrist.

It looked like a small, silver ring—delicate and exquisite.

""This little ring can suppress my period?""

Tu You, lying on her shoulder, glanced at the ring and explained:

""Of course! The technology in this mutated world is really advanced, except they only have light energy and nothing else. That’s why the mutated creatures here are so rampant—their skin has evolved to be immune to light attacks.""

""So even the biggest light-based nuclear weapons are useless. That’s also why people here are so friendly and supportive of each other. Everyone has to help each other to survive. When you get out there, maybe you’ll awaken some abilities. If you awaken a metal ability, you’ll be set!""

""You mean I could just make gold out of thin air?""

""Of course! Metal abilities let you create gold, which doesn’t exist here. If you can make gold, you’ll be able to buy anything. With that ability, you could even make high-level weapons to fight monsters. It’s a top-tier power!""

Sang Chu thought about it. Whether it was Zuo Xuefeng or Hua Xi, the only two people she’d met here were both really nice.

At least, in her eyes, all she saw was kindness and goodwill.

If they could work together for mutual benefit, she thought that would be great.

""Alright.""

With that, she closed her eyes and, following her research, slowly began to explore the path to awakening her abilities."
