Chapter 89: The Wood Element Technique
Picking Up Trash in Another World and Bringing It Back to the Apocalypse
Standing in the middle of the peach grove, Tu You strolled around the trees, glancing at the bustling crowd: “Hey, this place is pretty lively, isn’t it?”
Sang Chu nodded: “These people aren’t bad. I hope they’ll all stay tomorrow.”
Tu You shrugged: “Why do you care? Just focus on practicing your Floating Life Technique. How’s your progress?”
“It’s a bit messy. This technique is really hard to control.”
This was a supreme technique she obtained at the Demon Ruins, a secret art of the Wood Clan. If she didn’t have a wood core, she wouldn’t have been able to use it on the Wood Clan’s cultivation mountain, let alone resonate with the technique and obtain it.
Tu You said, “You’ve been at it for so long, and you’re still not done?”
Sang Chu had always been the most talented among them. No matter what technique it was, as long as she studied it for a bit, she could quickly master it. But now she was saying she couldn’t learn the Floating Life Technique?
Sang Chu looked helplessly at her hands. “I feel like something’s missing. I’ve got the form, but I can’t bring out its true power.”
“How about you show me? Maybe we can figure it out together.”
“Alright.”
Sang Chu nodded, raised her hands, and her wood spiritual power surged to its peak. Vines shot out, stretching and winding, gradually wrapping around her body.
Tiny white flowers slowly bloomed, their sweet fragrance carried away by the breeze.
The peach trees around them, upon catching the scent of the white flowers, suddenly began to grow wildly. Their trunks thickened visibly, branches split, and in the blink of an eye, peach blossoms bloomed and bore fruit.
But as for Sang Chu herself, there was still no real breakthrough.
The Floating Life Technique’s power flowed out of her, but as the floral scent grew stronger and the peach trees’ branches neared her, everything abruptly stopped.
Tu You’s eyes widened as she watched the peach trees grow as if a hundred years had passed in an instant. She swallowed unconsciously. “My god, even if you only have the form of the Floating Life Technique, the effect is already amazing!”
Those peach trees were just ordinary ones before, but now, compared to hers, the fruit they bore was even bigger!
Sang Chu sat down on the ground, exhausted. “The Floating Life Technique is said to bring the dead back to life and restore flesh to bones, and even nourish the soul. But it consumes too much. I only managed the form and I’m already worn out. If I really wanted to use its full power, it’d probably be a life for a life.”
Tu You said, “Not necessarily. The Floating Life Technique is the foundation of the entire wood element system. As long as you don’t try to defy fate or change destiny, using it for everyday purposes is fine.”
“I can heal!”
Tu You was choked by her words and didn’t know what to say. Just then, Sang Jingwen came over carrying a pile of weapons. He hadn’t expected Sang Chu to be here. Seeing her sitting on the ground, he hurried over. “Are you alright?”
Sang Chu replied, “Just tried out a technique and ran out of strength. Don’t worry, brother. Why did you come here?”
Sang Jingwen squatted down and handed her some weapons. “These thirteen are the ones I just picked out with Minli at the armory. He found a weapon he liked and went to the cultivation room to look for a technique. I was worried these thirteen would be too much for him, so I brought them up here. Didn’t expect to see you here.”
Probably didn’t want anyone else to find out before he succeeded!
Sang Chu didn’t call him out, just asked, “Brother, can your current spiritual power control so many weapons?”
Sang Jingwen just smiled, then closed his eyes and summoned his wood spiritual power, infusing it into the weapons.
He first summoned the staff he got the first time, then a pretty pink butterfly-shaped blade, then the third, the fourth...
One after another, all the weapons floated in the air, making Sang Chu stare in awe. “Brother, you’re amazing!”
Sang Jingwen looked at the peach grove and suddenly had an idea. “Sang Sang, can you let me control those plants outside?”
Sang Chu nodded. “Sure, I’ll go out. Brother, stretch out your hand!”
Sang Jingwen cooperated, stretching out his hand. Sang Chu did something in his palm, then led him through the peach grove to the mutated plants outside.
“Little sister, what was that just now?”
“Now the peach trees won’t attack you. With this, you don’t have to dodge their attacks like everyone else.”
“Hmm, but I’d still rather eat a peach.”
Sang Jingwen carefully controlled the weapons. When they got outside, Sang Chu directly told the mutated plants her request.
But the plants, without warning, attacked Sang Jingwen.
Sang Chu quickly dodged, stepping on a branch for leverage and flipping onto a thick trunk.
Sang Jingwen was on guard, not daring to relax for a moment.
As the vines came at him, he hurriedly used his weapons to block, but he wasn’t familiar enough and forgot about the vines behind and above him.
A vine wrapped around his legs before he could react.
Sang Jingwen narrowed his eyes and shouted, then his staff flew to his hand. He grabbed it, flipped in midair, and slashed down, the staff infused with spiritual power, cutting off the vine.
Spiritual power worked!
He increased his strength, infusing more power into the weapons, controlling them to block the vines, while he himself wielded the staff with both hands, controlling the situation.
After a while, the mutated plants’ attacks weakened, but Sang Jingwen was already drenched in sweat and pale.
Bang, bang, bang—
The weapons fell to the ground. Sang Jingwen could no longer stand, collapsing to the ground. “Thanks.”
The vines waved in the air, as if saying something, but he couldn’t understand, so he looked at Sang Chu in confusion.
She casually tossed out a spirit stone, and the vines immediately retreated, heading for the stone.
Sang Chu jumped down and walked over to Sang Jingwen, handing him a cup of spring water. “Brother, are you alright?”
“Yeah, just feel like all my strength is gone. But this spiritual power is really useful. Combined with the wood core, cultivating this energy really complements each other.”
Sang Chu was quietly satisfied, feeling like she’d seen her brother from before the apocalypse, no longer as cautious as he used to be.
“As long as you’re okay, brother. I’ll head back first. You should rest.”
She helped him up, but Sang Jingwen hesitated, looking like he wanted to say something.
Sang Chu asked, “What is it?”
Sang Jingwen finally spoke: “Sang Sang, those...”
She followed his gaze and saw the ground was a mess, weapons scattered everywhere.
“I’ll go pick them up. Brother, wait here for me.”
“Let’s do it together.”
He was exhausted, but picking up things was still doable.
Sang Jingwen: Looks like I’ll have to be careful using so many weapons next time!
Sang Chu: Better not let brother tease me, or I’ll have to retire after every fight..."
