Chapter 91: An
Picking Up Trash in Another World and Bringing It Back to the Apocalypse
Underground B Base
Lu Minli lay on the ground, covered in blood. An Hao, Wu Qian, and another person stood nearby, all smiling with satisfaction as they looked at Sang Chu, who had suddenly appeared.
An Lao grinned, baring his teeth in a sinister smile. “I didn’t expect you to be so meticulous. If Wu Feng’s little brother hadn’t come back to warn me before he died, I really would have been fooled by you.”
Sang Chu glanced at the barely breathing Lu Minli, her expression calm. “I’m right here. Whatever you want, just say it.”
An Lao replied bluntly, “I want your base.”
Sang Chu answered without hesitation, “Fine. First, let Lu Minli go. I’ll heal him. My abilities are about the same as his, and if he’s not a match for you, then neither are the rest of my people.”
An Lao was full of confidence. “Of course. I’m very curious to see your healing abilities.”
After he finished speaking, he waved his hand. An Hao and Wu Qian immediately retreated, making way for Sang Chu to approach.
Lu Minli’s eyes were crusted shut with blood, so he couldn’t see, but he spoke weakly to Sang Chu: “Sorry, it’s my...”
“It’s not your fault. He set this up deliberately. You’ve already done your best.”
Her healing skills weren’t great, but she could at least use her power on Lu Minli. An Lao didn’t seem to care, and at some point, he quietly appeared beside her as she crouched down to treat Lu Minli. “This little trick of yours can heal even wounds like that. Quite impressive!”
He seemed interested, but Sang Chu said coldly, “If you want the base, take it. Otherwise, we’ll all be trapped here together.”
Wu Qian, usually timid, suddenly spoke up arrogantly, “Do you know who you’re talking to? This is An Lao, a level-seven psychic. It’s your good fortune that he’s interested in your base!”
“Oh? Then do you want this ‘good fortune’?”
“You—!”
Wu Qian glared at Sang Chu, wishing she could kill her with her eyes.
Sang Chu quickly scanned the area. Aside from Wu Qian and An Hao, only An Lao was left. The others had either been killed by Lu Minli or by their own people.
And it was clear that An Lao wanted more than just her base. Since he had demands, that made things easier to handle.
The most dangerous people are those who want nothing.
Sang Chu said, “An Lao, right? You don’t want into my base just for the land, do you?”
An Hao glanced at Lu Minli on the ground, a bit unwilling, and reminded Sang Chu, “Sang Chu, you’re outnumbered. Your base is completely surrounded. Both Xin City and Shangjing’s—”
“Xiao Hao!”
An Lao’s sharp eyes shot over, and he coldly interrupted. An Hao immediately shut his mouth and silently stepped aside.
Sang Chu was puzzled. How had they set their sights on Taoyuan Base? Had something happened during the half month she’d been away that she didn’t know about?
Her brother said she’d been gone about fifteen days.
What had happened in those fifteen days?
An Lao said, “Everyone else, leave. I have something to discuss with Sang Chu alone.”
“Yes, sir.”
“An Lao, she—”
“Hm?”
An Lao glanced at her carelessly. Wu Qian quickly shut up and stepped back, not daring to say another word. By now, Lu Minli had slowly recovered and was looking at Sang Chu with concern.
An Lao glanced at him. “Since you’re better, get out.”
Sang Chu said, “I’m fine. Go rest for now.”
“Alright. Be careful.”
Lu Minli dragged his injured body to a corner out of sight, his hands clenched so tightly they bled.
Sang Chu said, “Say what you want, An Lao. It’s just the two of us now.”
“My name is An Tan. I’m a level-seven psychic. Wu Feng was my subordinate. That day you left, it was I who took her place.”
Sang Chu was stunned. “You took her place?”
“I originally planned to take her spot, but I didn’t expect you’d get the benefit instead. But now I know something: even if I take control, I can’t replace the ticket holder and board that disappearing ship. So, I want you to take me with you!”
Sang Chu hadn’t expected this and said directly, “That’s not possible. The cost of bringing someone is huge. Otherwise, why would I build this base in the apocalypse instead of taking my family and friends with me?”
An Tan said, “That’s fine. As long as you take me, you don’t have to worry about money. Even though your ship is only a small part of my assets, I have plenty of resources. As long as you take me, I’ll give you whatever you want!”
Rabbit: [Ah Chu, he’s being so straightforward. Impressive!]
Sang Chu couldn’t help but roll her eyes in her mind. As if she couldn’t see through him.
Sang Chu said, “Alright, I agree. But first, you have to withdraw all the attackers outside.”
“That’s fine, but I want to stay in your base.”
Sang Chu nodded. She’d expected him to want to stay. Luckily, the underground B base was protected by a stone door, so as long as no one entered the underground city, they wouldn’t be discovered.
She glanced at him, then at An Hao and Wu Qian. “What about Wu Qian’s family?”
An Tan said indifferently, “They’re already dead. That’s why she’s so obedient.”
Sang Chu pointed at Wu Qian. “She’s the one?”
An Tan nodded. “You don’t want to keep her, do you?”
It was a statement, not a question. Wu Qian didn’t know what he meant, but Sang Chu had a bad feeling.
Just as Wu Qian was about to walk over, she suddenly found herself strangling her own neck. With a twist, she snapped her own neck and collapsed.
Even in death, she didn’t understand what had happened—how she’d suddenly been killed by An Lao.
Watching An Tan so casually control Wu Qian’s suicide, Sang Chu couldn’t help but swallow, her back breaking out in a cold sweat.
“Well then, An Lao, shall we return to my base?”
An Tan looked around Sang Chu’s underground B base and smiled. “The young can’t accomplish anything big without being ruthless. These useless people are better off gone.”
At that moment, the people who had been injected with the berserk agent were going mad in their cells, desperately clawing at the doors, but unable to break free.
An Lao found it all very amusing. “Your cells are interesting! How did you make them?”
Sang Chu didn’t answer. Right now, her only option was to make herself more valuable.
“It’s a mutated world.”
“Oh? A mutated world? What kind of place is that?”
Sang Chu smiled. “A place full of monsters and advanced technology. The water and houses in my base all come from that world. If you want to know more, let me out first. The underground B base is a secret—I hope you’ll keep it that way. Even my brother doesn’t know about it.”"
