Chapter 71: Chapter 71: He Really Is a Monster

Reborn in the 1980s Becoming the Group's Darling Little Lucky Treasure

“Turned into stone? How did it happen? Show me—turn something into stone right now!”

Xu Shuhua looked at Gu Jiandong with disdain, convinced he was lying.

It wasn’t that Xu Shuhua was prejudiced against Gu Jiandong; it was just that he’d been a liar since he was a child. “Pathological liar” didn’t even begin to describe him.

Qin Yuelan and Chen Qiaoqin didn’t say anything, but it was clear they thought the same.

Gu Jiandong felt wronged. He struggled again, and this time managed to break free, though he stumbled back a few steps.

“You don’t believe me, do you? Fine! Just wait—I’ll go get the stuff and show you!”

With that, Gu Jiandong turned and ran outside.

Seeing him leave, Qin Yuelan let out a sigh of relief and hurried to check on Gu Mo.

“Daibao, are you alright? Did you get scared?”

Gu Mo shook his head, his expression exactly the same as usual.

How could he possibly be scared?!

Qin Yuelan, Chen Qiaoqin, and Xu Shuhua all thought Gu Jiandong was just making excuses and wouldn’t be coming back.

But to their surprise, not long after, Gu Jiandong actually returned.

Not only did he come back, but he was carrying a basket in his hand.

“Look! You didn’t believe me, right? Well, take a good look now!”

As he spoke, Gu Jiandong rushed to the bamboo bed and slammed the basket down on it.

Everyone looked over and saw that the basket was full of stones.

Stones were common enough, but the ones in this basket were a bit unusual.

A pile of oval-shaped stones, all about the same size—

Their size and shape really did look a lot like eggs.

There was also a long, rectangular stone, with layers of lighter and darker color.

If you had to compare it to something, it actually looked a bit like pork belly.

And then there was a perfectly square stone, the strangest of all, with thin lines on its surface like string.

Even Xu Shuhua, who considered herself well-traveled and knowledgeable, had never seen a basket of stones like this.

Seeing everyone silent, Gu Jiandong raised his eyebrows smugly. “Well? Was I lying? These are my eggs, brown sugar, and pork belly! That brat Gu Mo turned them all into this!”

Hearing this, Xu Shuhua snorted. “I’ve heard of the magic that turns stone into gold, but never food into stone. If you’re going to make up stories, at least make them believable. I’ll admit, you put some effort into finding stones that look like the real thing, but… this is just too much! Are you saying Daibao is some kind of immortal? That he knows magic?”

“Pah!” Gu Jiandong was so angry he nearly jumped three feet in the air. “What immortal? What magic? He’s a monster, that’s what! What kind of kid keeps a straight face all day, acting like a little old man? If that’s not a monster, what is?”

The last thing Xu Shuhua wanted to hear was anyone being called a monster.

“Monster? Monster my foot! If Daibao really was a monster, with an uncle like you, he’d have killed you long ago. You think nobody knows you hit Daibao? That you pinched his face? If he really was a monster, do you think you’d still be alive and well? What a load of nonsense!”

Qin Yuelan had always been the type to just endure things, but hearing Gu Jiandong call Daibao a monster over and over, she couldn’t take it anymore. “Jiandong, how can you say that? Daibao is your nephew. He’s been perfectly fine since the day he was born—how can you call him a monster?”"
