Chapter 135: Preparations

Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier

When Mother Fu heard that someone could help with mailing things, she was naturally delighted. She hurriedly brought out everything she had stayed up late sorting the night before and started packing it all up. She even packed some things they hadn’t originally planned to take, just in case.

After all this busy work, the whole morning slipped by in a flash.

Mother Qin couldn’t help much with the packing, but she helped by looking after the two children and also lent a hand with cooking. They had lunch at the Fu family’s house.

“Mom, your cooking is really something else,” Fu Mingxue praised.

Mother Fu nodded in agreement. “Our in-law really does have a talent for cooking. This fish is even tastier than mine.”

Seeing the mother and daughter enjoy the food made Mother Qin very happy. “How about this: tonight, you all come over to the Qin house for dinner. The old man at home specifically said you must come. Consider it a farewell dinner for you.”

Hearing this, Mother Fu couldn’t help but look at her daughter.

Fu Mingxue nodded. “Alright, we’ll be there.”

Mother Qin was very pleased.

Just after lunch, Qin Wenze arrived.

“Sister-in-law, is this everything?” he asked.

Fu Mingxue nodded. “Yes, thank you for your help, big brother.”

“No need to be so polite. This is what I should do.”

Qin Wenze loaded the five extra-large packages that had been placed in the courtyard into his car. He didn’t need Fu Mingxue to come along, and drove off right away.

With those things sent ahead, there wasn’t much left for Fu Mingxue and her family to take—just some clothes and a can of formula for the kids. Basically, whatever they could carry.

In the afternoon, Fu Mingxue made a trip to the research institute. Old Ji wasn’t surprised to see her.

“Engineer Ji, there are four of us—me, my mother, and the two kids. About the housing over there…”

“You don’t need to worry about that,” Old Ji replied. “Since your whole family is moving together, I’ve already contacted Qin Wenhuo’s unit. They’ve arranged everything. You’ll be staying in the same large courtyard house that Qin Wenhuo used to live in. Once you arrive, the house will be assigned directly to you.”

“As for the train tickets, don’t worry about those either. We bought an extra ticket just in case, so it’s perfect for you two adults.”

Old Ji took the tickets out of his pocket. “They’re sleeper tickets. Take them. Tomorrow, Xiao Yang will drive you straight to the train station.”

Xiao Yang was the young man who had driven Fu Mingxue yesterday.

Fu Mingxue accepted the tickets. “Aren’t you coming with us, Engineer Ji?”

“I was supposed to go with you tomorrow, but something came up at the last minute, so I’ll be going a day later. I won’t be able to travel with you.”

“But don’t worry. When you arrive, just report in as planned. I’ve arranged everything. Someone will be there to pick you up when you get off the train.”

Fu Mingxue thanked him. “Thank you, Engineer Ji.”

Old Ji smiled. “No need to thank me. If you still have things to pack at home, you’d better hurry back!”

Fu Mingxue nodded. “Alright, goodbye, Engineer Ji!”

She had come by bicycle—a bike that the Qin family had given her to make getting around easier. She planned to return it to them that evening, since leaving it unused for too long would only let it rust.

Back home, there wasn’t much left to pack. At around 4:30, Qin Wenze came to pick them up in person.

“Auntie, sister-in-law, the old man sent me to get you. Are you ready to go?”

Fu Mingxue answered right away, “Yes, we’re ready.”

She and her mother each carried a child and got in the car.

When they arrived at the Qin house, Mother Qin was already waiting at the door—"
