Chapter 152: An Argument
Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier
Fu Mingxue didn’t get home until ten o’clock.
Of course, it was Xiao Li who drove her back.
As soon as the car stopped, Fu Mingxue got out. “Thank you. Be careful on your way back.”
Xiao Li responded, then drove off.
Just as Fu Mingxue was about to open the door, she found it was already being opened—her mother had come to let her in.
“Mom, why aren’t you asleep yet?” Fu Mingxue was surprised.
Her mother replied bluntly, “I was sleeping lightly.”
Seeing her daughter standing there, she urged, “Why are you just standing there? Come in.”
Fu Mingxue entered the courtyard, and her mother closed the main gate behind her.
“Why did you work so late?”
“There was a meeting, and I also needed to get to know my team and the work site.” There had been a lot going on in the workshop today—she’d even toured the current engine manufacturing workshop.
She’d also met some really skilled masters.
She thought it was great! She felt fulfilled.
She needed to understand every detail of the production process.
It was just a pity there wasn’t enough time—otherwise, she really wanted to stay in the workshop all the time—
Her mother hadn’t expected her daughter to be attending meetings on her very first day of work.
What kind of position was this?
In her impression, aside from the mid-year and year-end staff award meetings, only leaders attended meetings regularly.
So—did her daughter become a leader as soon as she started?
“Are you hungry? Should I make you some noodles?”
“Mom, I’m not hungry, don’t bother. Our cafeteria serves late-night snacks. I already ate before coming home.”
Hearing this, her mother’s eyes widened. “Your workplace is that good? They even provide late-night snacks?”
Fu Mingxue nodded. “Yes, and the food in the cafeteria is really good—there’s meat and vegetables, it’s all pretty plentiful. Most importantly, it’s cheap because the company subsidizes our meals.”
“That’s a great place to work!” Good pay and good benefits.
She almost wanted to work there herself.
“If you’re not eating, then go to bed early. Oh, and if you want to shower tonight, I’ve set out your clothes. After you shower, just leave your dirty clothes there—I’ll wash them tomorrow.”
Fu Mingxue nodded. “Okay. By the way, how are the kids?”
“They were so well-behaved! Didn’t cry at all.” Although she hadn’t looked after the two children for long, Fu’s mother had already grown attached to them.
She truly treated them like her own grandchildren.
“Thank you, Mom. I’ll go shower first.” Fu Mingxue had wanted to go to her mother’s room to check on the kids, but considering she’d been in the workshop and still smelled of machine oil, she decided against it.
“Go on, go on! I’m off to bed too.” Her mother was feeling a bit sleepy now.
Actually, with her daughter’s first day at work and coming home so late, how could a mother possibly sleep soundly?
Now that her daughter was finally home, she could finally relax and get a good night’s sleep.
After showering, Fu Mingxue returned to her room, which was already nice and warm.
But she didn’t go to bed right away.
She needed to read for an hour.
After visiting the workshop today, she realized that what she’d learned so far was just book knowledge—there was still so much she needed to learn through hands-on experience.
In other words, she still had a lot of gaps to fill.
She needed to read more books about engines.
And she needed to study more math, too.
——
The next morning, Fu Mingxue was woken up by the sound of an argument outside.
She thought it was her mother arguing with someone, so she got up quickly.
When she reached the courtyard, she realized the argument was coming from next door.
“You’re up early! Did the neighbors wake you up?”"
