Chapter 163: My Husband Has Come to Pick Me Up

Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier

Fu Mingxue rode her bicycle to the factory.

After parking her bike, she was about to leave when suddenly a voice called out, “Comrade, please wait a moment.”

Hearing the voice, Fu Mingxue turned her head.

She saw a man in his twenties.

“Are you talking to me?”

“Yes.” The man had already walked up to her. “Comrade, I’m the new technician. Could you tell me how to get to the factory office?”

Fu Mingxue pointed in the direction.

“Just head that way.”

“Thank you.” The man expressed his gratitude, but instead of leaving, he began to introduce himself. “Hello, my name is Xu Ming. Comrade, what’s your name?”

Fu Mingxue felt he was being a bit forward.

She ignored him and walked away.

Xu Ming was left standing there, confused.

Why didn’t she answer him?

But it wasn’t a good time to chase after her, so he just headed toward the office.

Anyway, she obviously worked here—if he needed to find her later, it wouldn’t be hard.

Fu Mingxue didn’t give the encounter a second thought.

But to her surprise, half an hour later, Director Geng brought that man right to her.

“Team Leader Fu, let me introduce someone to you. This is Xu Ming.”

“It’s you?” Xu Ming was shocked when he saw Fu Mingxue.

Fu Mingxue recognized him as well and looked at Director Geng, not understanding what this was about.

“He’s an expert in calculations—a real genius. Your team needs someone for data calculations, right? He’ll be staying here for a few months, so I’m assigning him to your group.”

“Xu Ming, this is Team Leader Fu. She’s the project lead. From now on, you’ll be working in Group Six.”

Director Geng’s words left Xu Ming stunned.

He hadn’t expected this young woman, who looked not even twenty, to be the leader of such an important project team.

But he wasn’t one of those old-fashioned types who judged by appearances.

If she could be team leader, she must have real ability.

“Hello, let’s start over. I’m Xu Ming. Please take care of me.”

He extended his left hand.

Fu Mingxue didn’t shake his hand.

“Since we’re on the same team, there’s no need for formalities like handshakes. Just call me Team Leader Fu. Since you’re good at calculations, we have some data that needs your attention.”

She pointed toward the group of team members.

“Go over there.”

Xu Ming withdrew his hand as if nothing had happened. “Alright.”

He nodded to Director Geng and walked over to the work group.

“Xiao Fu, he’s a bit proud, but he’s got real skills. He’ll only be here a few months, so don’t hesitate to put him to work,” Director Geng said before leaving.

Fu Mingxue: …?

She could tell—he wasn’t here to hide out, just to pad his resume.

But it didn’t really concern her.

——

At ten o’clock that night, work was over.

This time, Fu Mingxue didn’t go for a late-night snack—she planned to head straight home.

As she was pushing her bike, Xu Ming suddenly ran over.

“Team Leader Fu, are you heading home? Are you going alone? Why don’t I walk you back!”

“No need,” Fu Mingxue replied coldly.

Letting him walk her home? What would that look like?

“Where do you live? If it’s far, it’s not safe for a young woman to go alone,” Xu Ming said, clearly worried.

Fu Mingxue was getting annoyed. “I’ll be fine. My husband is coming to pick me up.”

“Huh? You’re married?” Xu Ming stood there, dumbfounded.

He really hadn’t expected that.

She looked so young!"
