Chapter 61: Damn, This Is Serious

Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier

Song Yan remembered which carriage Qin Wenhuo had boarded, so he found it quickly.

There were only two people in this sleeper compartment. Song Yan stood at the doorway without going in.

""Captain Qin, what a coincidence. Can I talk to you for a moment?""

Qin Wenhuo glanced up at him, his gaze cool and indifferent. Then he got up and walked out.

""Talk about what?"" His voice was as cold as his demeanor.

""Captain Qin, did you and Fu Mingxue really register your marriage?""

Qin Wenhuo swept his eyes over him, expressionless. ""What does that have to do with you? Do I need to report my marriage to you? Since when is it your place to question me about my private life?""

That string of questions made Song Yan's heart sink instantly.

At first, he hadn't really believed what Bai Siqi said. How could those two possibly have gotten married? Even if they wanted to, they'd have to apply for a marriage report first—the army would need to do a background check on the bride. That whole process would take quite some time. How could they have registered their marriage so quickly?

He didn't even know why he felt so upset. It's not like he liked Fu Mingxue.

He forced a smile. ""I just care about you, Captain Qin. You and Fu Mingxue haven't known each other long. You don't really understand her—""

""Song Yan, do you know why you were discharged? You don't even have the most basic moral standards of a soldier. From now on, take care of yourself.""

With that cold remark, Qin Wenhuo turned and went back to his sleeper compartment, leaving Song Yan standing there, face ashen.

He wandered back to his seat in the regular carriage, lost and dejected.

As soon as Bai Siqi saw him return, she hurried over to ask, ""Did you see him? What did you say to him?""

""Bai Siqi, I regret ever meeting you!""

Song Yan's sudden outburst made Bai Siqi's face turn livid with anger.

""What do you mean by that, Song Yan? What do you mean you regret meeting me?""

Song Yan just closed his eyes and refused to say another word.

Right now, he was filled with regret—why had he ever helped Bai Siqi do those things? He shouldn't have...

Bai Siqi fumed for a long time, thinking Song Yan would eventually try to comfort her, but he just kept his eyes closed and ignored her completely.

This really infuriated her. Watching Song Yan ignore her for so long, a sense of panic started to creep into her heart.

What was wrong with Song Yan? Why was he ignoring her? What exactly did Qin Wenhuo say to him?

Unable to sit still, she finally got up, ready to go find Qin Wenhuo and ask him herself.

But the moment she stood up, Song Yan grabbed her wrist with such force that it hurt, startling her so much she almost screamed.

She glared at Song Yan, but the next second, his expression scared her even more.

""Bai Siqi, I suggest you don't go looking for Qin Wenhuo. Don't embarrass yourself.""

With that, Song Yan let go of her, his face expressionless.

Bai Siqi was left both angry and frightened—what was wrong with Song Yan?

But the warning worked. Bai Siqi stayed obediently in her seat and didn't move.

When it was time to get off the train, she instinctively glanced toward the exit, but didn't see anyone—clearly, they'd already left.

But she didn't have time to worry about that, because as soon as Song Yan got off the train, he was taken away by waiting police officers.

She was taken away too.

Terrified, she shouted, ""Let me go! Why are you arresting me?""

""You're suspected of involvement in human trafficking,"" the officer replied.

Bai Siqi was stunned with fear.

Song Yan's head snapped up in shock. ""What do you mean by that?""

But the police didn't answer, just escorted the two of them away.

The town wasn't very big, so news of the two being handcuffed and taken away at the train station spread throughout the whole place in no time."
