Chapter 80: Looking for Trouble

Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier

Mother Fu nodded. “Alright. But don’t buy too much.”

After her daughter left, she couldn’t help but mutter to herself: What’s going on with that son-in-law? Didn’t he say he’d come by this afternoon? Why hasn’t he shown up since he left? He never struck her as someone unreliable! Or did something come up?

She sighed softly. Thank goodness for this house—otherwise, she’d be even more anxious.

Fu Mingxue took a stroll down the main street, then found a quiet corner where she took out some things she’d stored in her space. Even though she’d been on the train these past few days, she hadn’t slacked off on her reading at all. So, her daily rewards kept coming in. Plus, she’d accumulated some over the New Year.

Right now, she had two jin of fine flour, three jin of rice, and two jin of pork with both fat and lean meat. There was also a fish weighing about two jin.

She picked up these things and was about to head home when, just after leaving the alley, she heard someone calling, “Sister-in-law!”

The voice sounded familiar to Fu Mingxue, so she instinctively stopped and turned to look. Wasn’t that Qin Zhong’s cousin riding over on a bicycle?

“Sister-in-law, I was just about to look for you—didn’t expect to see you here.”

Fu Mingxue looked at him. “Is something wrong?”

“Sister-in-law, those twins are sick. Brother Wenhuo took them to the hospital, so he probably won’t have time to come by your place. He asked me to let you know.”

When Fu Mingxue heard the kids were sick, she immediately asked, “They’re sick? They’re at the hospital? Which hospital?”

“The Second Hospital, not far from here.”

“I’ll go check on them—” After all, those kids were under her name!

If they’d been sent to the hospital, it must be serious.

She took a couple of steps, then noticed all the things she was carrying.

“Cousin, can I borrow your bike for a bit? I’ll take these things home first and let my mom know, then I’ll head to the hospital.”

“Of course!” Qin Wenshu immediately hopped off the bike.

He handed the bicycle to Fu Mingxue and helped her hang the bags on the back seat.

Just then, a sharp voice rang out, “Qin Wenshu, what are you doing?”

As the voice fell, a slender figure rushed over like the wind and stopped in front of them.

The girl glared angrily at Qin Wenshu. “Qin Wenshu, who is she?”

Qin Wenshu frowned. “Zhao Sisi, what are you yelling for? This is my sister-in-law—”

Then he turned to Fu Mingxue. “Sorry, just ignore her. You go ahead—”

“You’re not going anywhere! Qin Wenshu, you’re not leaving until you explain yourself. No wonder you’ve been avoiding me these past few days—turns out you’re out here flirting with some little vixen—”

Qin Wenshu’s face turned livid with anger. “Zhao Sisi, what nonsense are you spouting? This is my sister-in-law, Brother Wenhuo’s wife, my third sister-in-law.”

Zhao Sisi was stunned. “What? Qin Wenhuo’s wife? Impossible—”

Fu Mingxue couldn’t be bothered to deal with this woman. She simply didn’t have the time.

She immediately got on the bike, ready to leave.

But as soon as Zhao Sisi saw her about to go, she instinctively grabbed the handlebars. The bike wobbled, and Fu Mingxue nearly fell off. Worse, the bag of rice on the back seat tumbled to the ground.

Now Fu Mingxue was furious.

That was precious food.

Her gaze turned icy as she stared at Zhao Sisi, her voice cold as frost. “Pick up every single grain of that rice.”"
