Chapter 119: Vicious
Returning to Before the Apocalypse, I Emptied the World's Supplies
Ma Longbiao took a hard drag of his cigarette, then stubbed the glowing red tip directly into Zhou Wei’s palm as if it were an ashtray.
“Ssszzzt!” Zhou Wei instinctively jerked his hand back from the burn, but gritted his teeth and forced himself to endure it.
“Not bad, at least you’re not a coward.”
Ma Longbiao curled his lips into a cold sneer, then finally turned his sinister gaze to the couple who had just entered. “The walkie-talkie.”
A young man nearby hurriedly pressed the walkie-talkie and handed it to him.
“Zzzzt zzzzt!” The couple immediately dropped to their knees with a thud at the sound.
They opened their mouths to beg for mercy, but only managed to let out guttural, “Ah, ah, ah, ah,” sounds.
Red-tinged saliva dribbled from the corners of their mouths.
Catching a glimpse in the dim light, Zhou Wei instantly guessed—their tongues were probably gone.
The middle-aged men standing by Ma Longbiao’s side all felt a chill run down their spines at the sight.
“Boss!” A strong male voice came through the walkie-talkie.
“Bring the kid from 2703 over,” Ma Longbiao said, slowly cracking his knuckles.
“Yes, sir!”
A flurry of chaotic footsteps followed.
“Ahhh! Ahhh!” The couple, hearing this, began to kowtow frantically, tears streaming down their faces.
“Help! Help! Mama! Mama!” Soon, the voice of a little boy came through the walkie-talkie.
“Boss, what should we do?”
“Deal with all of them—adults and kids,” Ma Longbiao said expressionlessly, waving a hand at the couple.
The young man with the walkie-talkie released the button, drew a knife, and stabbed forward.
“Pshhk!”
“Pshhk!”
The scent of blood gradually filled the room.
The legs of the middle-aged men nearly gave out beneath them.
“Mmmph!!” Wang Jin and the others wailed in terror.
Zhou Haoyue’s face went pale and she nearly fainted from fright.
Ma Longbiao turned and swept the room with a cold, vicious glare. “Let me tell you all—this is what happens to snitches!
They thought betraying Zhou Wei would get them some favor from me. Little did they know, what I, Ma Longbiao, hate most in this world are informers and two-faced traitors!”
Listening to his words, Zhou Wei stared at the two corpses bleeding out in front of him, his whole body tense. Trembling, he pleaded:
“Brother Biao, I swear I know I was wrong this time. Please, give me another chance!”
Ma Longbiao was unmoved. Slowly clenching his fist, he said coldly, “What did you do wrong?”
Zhou Wei lowered his head. “I disobeyed your orders and acted on my own.
But I was just anxious! They had a ton of supplies in their place. If I could steal them, I’d give them all to you, so the brothers could hold out a bit longer!”
“You sure you were stealing for me, and not to trade for your son? 2703 already told me everything. You wanted to steal supplies, then use them to get your son back from me, and then—take Sun Jingtao’s rubber boat and escape in the night!”
Ma Longbiao’s voice was savage as he grabbed Zhou Wei by the collar and lifted him up.
He wasn’t tall, but his strength was terrifying.
“No, no, Brother Biao, I was wrong! You said this rain would only get worse, that we can’t go anywhere, that the only way to survive this disaster is to stick with you and obey your orders!” Zhou Wei sobbed, forcing down his resentment and impulsiveness.
“Do you realize your actions today almost blew everything?! If you’d pissed off Jiang Yan from 3201 and Sun Jingtao from 3204 ahead of schedule, all my preparations would have gone to waste! Do you get that?!”
Ma Longbiao spoke coldly, leaning in and slapping Zhou Wei across the face.
“I get it, I get it!” Zhou Wei nodded frantically.
Ma Longbiao took a deep breath, released his collar, and tossed him to the floor. “Do you remember why I had you come up to the 32nd floor?”
“You wanted me to get close to Jiang Yan and Sun Jingtao, get information out of them—especially Jiang Yan. Find out if she has any other firearms besides that pistol, and how much ammo she has.
Once you’ve got the rest of the buildings in Qianshuiwan under control, test their intentions. If they won’t submit, then we’ll coordinate inside and out, and take them all down in one move.” Zhou Wei explained, word for word.
Listening to him, Ma Longbiao spat out each word viciously:
“Good. Zhou Wei, since you once saved my life during the heatwave, I’ll give you one last chance! But if you try anything else, what happened to 2703 will be your whole family’s fate. And I’ll make sure Zhou Haotian and Zhou Haoyue suffer a fate worse than death! You understand me?!”
“I understand! I understand!” Zhou Wei nodded desperately.
“Boom!” A thunderclap shook the sky outside.
Ma Longbiao glanced out the window and stood up.
“Boss, you’re just going to let him off? Shouldn’t we punish him? Otherwise, how will they learn?” The scar-faced man glared at Zhou Wei and stepped forward.
Ma Longbiao’s eyes narrowed, his thumb and forefinger rubbing together. “What kind of punishment?”
“The brothers are all hungry…” The scar-faced man shone his flashlight on Wang Jiamei and Wen Wanli, making his meaning clear.
“Brother Biao, please, don’t touch my wife!” Zhou Wei instantly understood, dropping to his knees with a thud.
Ma Longbiao looked at his pitiful state, then suddenly gave a sinister smile.
“Zhou Wei, I’ll give you a choice: your son or your wife—you decide.” He sneered, then turned. “Walkie-talkie.”
“Zzzzt zzzzt~” As the young man turned on the walkie-talkie, Wang Jiamei, unable to speak, lunged forward, nodding frantically at Ma Longbiao, tears streaming down her face.
Ma Longbiao clicked his tongue. “See? Your wife knows how to take one for the team. After all, whether it’s one man or a few, it’s all the same! The guys here are all young and strong—much better than you! If you think about it, she’s the one getting the better deal!”
He gave a twisted laugh, then nodded at the scar-faced man.
The scar-faced man grinned and strode toward Wen Wanli. “Brothers, the boss is treating us—what are you waiting for?!”
Wang Jiamei and Wen Wanli, faces ashen, were quickly dragged into the bedroom.
Wang Jin, having grown numb to such scenes, hung his head in despair.
Zhou Wei’s eyes, bloodshot with rage, looked ready to burst.
“Mmmph! Mmmph!”
Helpless sobs and men’s laughter drifted from the bedroom.
*Crack!*
Zhou Wei ground a tooth to powder in his mouth.
These two chapters are a bit heavy—hang in there, everyone."
