Chapter 123: Could He Be a Reincarnator Too?
Returning to Before the Apocalypse, I Emptied the World's Supplies
Tian Jiliang grunted in response.
His forehead was covered in beads of sweat, and one of his legs was tightly wrapped with strips of cloth, soaked through with blood.
Su Dai held a towel in her hand, dipping it in hot water as she carefully cleaned the blood around his arm. Sun Jingtao stood by, holding a lamp to give her better light.
Both the towel and the water in the basin were stained a deep red.
It was already close to nine o’clock outside, but with the rain pouring down, the light inside the room was still dim.
“I found this. There’s still a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and some amoxicillin at home, so I brought them for you. Also, Zhou Wei just gave us some gauze—he said it’s for bandaging Tian Jiliang’s wounds.”
Jiang Yan walked over and handed the red first aid kit in her hand to Su Dai, who had stood up to greet her.
She glanced at Tian Jiliang’s arm and thigh—both had wounds about half a palm long, with flesh turned outward.
Even though she didn’t see the exposed bone Su Dai had mentioned, it was still a shocking sight.
With wounds this big, if they weren’t disinfected and stitched up, and if he got tetanus, he’d probably be meeting his maker soon.
No wonder he was willing to part with that valuable family heirloom jade pendant.
“Wow! Thank you, Jiang Yan! We’re so lucky to have you!!”
Su Dai happily took the supplies, placed them on the coffee table, and immediately opened the first aid kit, taking out the medicines and bandages one by one.
She quickly arranged them in the order she’d need them.
“Old Tian, you really are lucky to have run into Jiang Yan. With these medicines, you’re going to make it!” Su Dai said, then got up and pulled a colorful sewing kit from a small basket under the coffee table.
“Fank you, fank you!” Tian Jiliang mumbled, the towel clenched between his teeth muffling his words.
“Xiao Ye, help me boil another pot of water,” Su Dai instructed Ye Qing. She glanced at Tian Jiliang’s wounds, took out a spool of thread, and threaded a needle.
Then she poured some alcohol into a paper cup and soaked the needle and thread to sterilize them.
“Old Tian, in a moment I’ll use tweezers to remove any bone fragments and debris from your wounds. Then I’ll disinfect with hydrogen peroxide, and after that, I’ll stitch you up. The last part is going to hurt a lot, so try to bear it,” Su Dai explained, standing up.
Watching her calmly organize everything, Jiang Yan was a bit surprised. “Su Dai, you know medicine?”
“Not really. I used to be a fitness coach, so I learned some basic first aid. As for wound care, I picked up some tips from Sun Jingtao, and I’ve watched some instructional videos when I had free time.
Sun Jingtao actually knows more, but he says his hands are too clumsy for stitching, so I might be better at it.”
Su Dai finished with an embarrassed smile. “Right now, I’m just playing the part of a makeshift street doctor.”
“Fnot true,” Tian Jiliang interjected, despite the pain.
His words, in the middle of such a bloody and painful scene, almost made everyone laugh.
“If only we had anesthetic,” Su Dai sighed. “But even if we did, we’re not professionals.”
Jiang Yan actually had plenty of anesthetics in her space.
Last time she’d visited that dental clinic, she’d picked up a whole bunch for free.
But as Su Dai said, the dosage for anesthetics isn’t something amateurs should mess with.
Besides, if she even had anesthetics on hand, it would definitely seem suspicious.
So she didn’t take any out.
Tian Jiliang would just have to grit his teeth and endure.
Su Dai began cleaning his wounds.
Tian Jiliang bit down hard on the towel, letting out pig-like screams of agony.
Jiang Yan decided to stay and wait until Su Dai finished treating him, so she could ask about what was happening in the hallway.
After what felt like an eardrum-shattering eternity, Su Dai finally finished cleaning, disinfecting, and stitching up both wounds.
Tian Jiliang was drenched in sweat from the pain, his face pale as he passed out.
Sun Jingtao covered him with a jacket and let him recline and rest, then motioned for Jiang Yan to sit at the dining table.
Ye Qing poured water for both Jiang Yan and Su Dai.
The temperature was just right—not too hot, not too cold.
Su Dai, who had been tense the whole time, picked up her cup and took a big gulp.
“How did he get hurt like this?” Now that everyone had calmed down a bit, Jiang Yan finally asked.
Sun Jingtao briefly recounted what had happened over the past few days.
What he knew was mostly what Tian Jiliang had told him, plus some things Ye Qing had found out while scouting around.
The most important point was that Ma Longbiao and his gang were “clearing out” and taking control of the entire Building A.
Almost all the useful supplies in the building had been looted by them.
The apartments below the 29th floor had also been “reset.”
By “reset,” it meant they decided who lived where, according to their own rules.
These people came from five buildings in Qianshui Bay.
Some had surrendered out of fear, while others had no choice after their children or wives were taken hostage.
Those who surrendered were then used as their henchmen and human shields.
After Sun Jingtao finished, Su Dai sighed:
“Ai, Jiang Yan, I finally understand that saying: just because you don’t go looking for trouble doesn’t mean trouble won’t come looking for you.
The heat and rain were bad enough, but now this man-made disaster…”
“Ma Longbiao and his gang are utterly heartless! Arson, murder, looting, abuse—they haven’t missed a single crime these past few days.” Even the usually calm Sun Jingtao couldn’t help slamming his fist on the table in anger.
They’d all been holed up in their apartment, trying to ignore the outside world.
But in just a few days, the building downstairs had become a bloodbath.
The way things had escalated was far beyond anything they’d expected—or could tolerate.
And today, that gang had already “cleared” up to the 29th floor, where Tian Jiliang lived.
At this rate, with their ambition and brutality, the 32nd floor would be next.
Tian Jiliang, who had been unconscious, shuddered instinctively at the sound of the fist slamming on the table.
“These people aren’t just ruthless thugs. Especially Ma Longbiao—he’s got some real skills and cunning,” Ye Qing said, frowning as he sat across from Jiang Yan.
Everyone turned to look at him.
“I found out some things earlier, but haven’t had a chance to tell you.”
Ye Qing glanced at Jiang Yan, saw she was listening, and continued:
“Before the heatwave hit, Ma Longbiao’s group secretly cordoned off an area in their community’s underground parking lot and stockpiled a lot of water and food.
They also prepared backup power, medicine, and some melee weapons.
When the heatwave struck and most people hadn’t reacted yet, they went to the nearby shopping mall and looted all the gold, jewelry, and supermarket goods.
If it hadn’t been so hot and they could travel farther, they probably would’ve robbed everywhere else too.
Later, when the rain started, he led his men to quietly move into our building and lay low.
Apparently, Ma Longbiao is really good at predicting things—he even guessed the timing of the heatwave and the rain, which is why he’s been so brazen.”
Jiang Yan’s heart skipped a beat as she listened:
Could Ma Longbiao be a reincarnator too?
Otherwise, how could he have predicted everything so accurately?
