Chapter 165: I Could Kill Him With One Move
Scavenging in the Wasteland
A few police officers dragged Xiao Lingye out of the courtyard.
The corpse was quickly hauled away by people from the city.
The other two men who had surrendered were also thrown out of the city along with him.
Ying Ruoying handed each police officer a piece of chewing gum.
She couldn’t give them too much—she had to show she knew how to handle people, but she couldn’t afford to hand out real food.
Food scarcity was a universal truth in the wasteland.
If Ying Ruoying got too generous and gave each officer a pile of food, she’d disappear without a trace the very next day.
After Ying Ruoying thanked the police profusely, treating them like saviors as she saw them off, she finally wiped the grateful tears from her face and turned to enter the first floor of the villa.
Shi Yuebai had already climbed the stairs to the second floor by herself.
By the time Ying Ruoying found her upstairs, Shi Yuebai was already pacing circles in the second-floor living room.
“Xiao Lingye’s arm is ruined,” Shi Yuebai said, having seen it clearly. She asked Ying Ruoying, “So, how are you planning to finish him off?”
Ying Ruoying clenched her fists, her teeth grinding audibly. “I want him to pay back everything I suffered, every last bit.”
“How’s he supposed to pay?” Shi Yuebai asked.
Was she going to make Xiao Lingye sell his body?
Shi Yuebai looked quietly at Ying Ruoying, who didn’t answer.
In an instant, Shi Yuebai knew she’d guessed right.
She laughed. “Alright then. You handle the food in the basement. But if he’s selling his body, Xiao Lingye should be able to support himself, right?”
Ah, Shi Yuebai really did love Ying Ruoying’s ruthlessness.
Not bad, not bad—Ying Ruoying was just her type.
With Shi Yuebai’s support, Ying Ruoying immediately grabbed a bag of food and waited for that grandfather and grandson pair to show up.
She handed the bag of puffed rice snacks to them and asked them to find a few people for her.
“Find a few trustworthy people, keep Xiao Lingye and his men under control, and take them to the area near the bridge where that group hangs out.”
“There are a few women there who specialize in picking up clients outside the city. Set up near them.”
“Spread the word as much as possible—you should be able to find customers with that kind of taste.”
“If you get it done, the boss says you’ll be well rewarded.”
That grandfather and grandson were actually quite shrewd.
Strip away their layers of hardship, and they knew full well Ying Ruoying had food.
But it was clear she was working for someone higher up.
If the boss wanted to deal with Xiao Lingye and they pulled it off, they’d win the boss’s favor.
Would they ever have to worry about food again?
The grandfather and grandson were survivors from the very bottom.
And if there was one thing the bottom had plenty of, it was people.
They quickly found two suitable men—the same two who’d helped them haul supplies to sell to Ying Ruoying last time.
The two burly men found Xiao Lingye, whose arm was crippled, at the city gate.
His shoulder had been blasted through by a police laser, and who knew what nerve had been hit—his whole arm was useless.
The two men easily subdued Xiao Lingye.
He shouted loudly, “Do you know who I am? Damn it, let me go!”
Ying Ruoying appeared behind the two men, holding an iron chain in her hand.
All this time, while cleaning the villa for Shi Yuebai and trading for living supplies, she’d never forgotten her revenge.
With bits of food, she’d quietly bought all sorts of props from stalls in the city: iron chains, whips, candles, thongs, nipple clamps, and even a rather luxurious tent.
Everything was set up for the right atmosphere.
She handed the items to one of the men. “Go on. Just don’t let him die.”
The man grinned as he took the props, tying up the struggling, cursing Xiao Lingye with the iron chain.
Xiao Lingye cursed her out, calling her every name in the book.
But verbal humiliation meant nothing to Ying Ruoying.
What Xiao Lingye was about to face—that was true humiliation.
Revenge, though late, had arrived at last.
By the time Ying Ruoying returned, rumors were already swirling inside and outside the city.
Word was, there was a man selling his body outside the city—a muscular, manly guy at that.
Everyone spoke with disdain: With all those muscles, why wasn’t he out scavenging for supplies? The wasteland’s morals were truly in decline—even men were getting lazy and greedy.
But while most people scoffed, those with certain tastes heard something else entirely.
In short, ever since Xiao Lingye’s “business” opened, his screams had never stopped.
At first, Ying Ruoying had the grandfather and grandson give the two guards some ready-made food as payment.
But soon, Xiao Lingye was not only supporting himself—he was feeding the two men guarding him.
Shi Yuebai watched everything from the sidelines, secretly comparing.
To her surprise, Xiao Lingye’s business was even better than Zhang Xueyao’s.
Tsk tsk.
Ying Ruoying kept collecting supplies, but her revenge wasn’t over.
Two of Xiao Lingye’s men had surrendered during the shootout and been taken away by the police.
But in this wasteland, there wasn’t much point in keeping prisoners.
Either you killed them, or you let them go.
Feeding prisoners in jail cost food.
As for using them for infrastructure or production—forget it. In this high-radiation environment, nothing could be produced.
So, Xiao Lingye’s two men were quickly released and kicked out of the city.
They wandered outside the city and ran into the grandfather and grandson.
The pair seemed completely harmless, saying they knew a place where you could scavenge for food.
They even kindly shared a bag of puffed rice with them.
Xiao Lingye’s two men exchanged a look and tricked the grandfather and grandson into taking them there.
The old man and boy seemed honest enough, so they led the two men along.
But when they saw a luxurious tent, before they could react, someone knocked them out from behind.
When they woke up, they were trussed up on the ground, wearing nothing but black leather briefs and collars around their necks.
Ying Ruoying really knew how to set the mood—her sense of aesthetics was in her bones.
Soon, business was booming.
With more food coming in, Ying Ruoying hired two more people to guard the three “asses” of Xiao Lingye and his men.
Having tasted success, she said to Shi Yuebai, who was leaning against the wall and slowly making her way forward,
“If there are any more men who bully women, we can send them here.”
“There’s no law to deal with these people now, so let’s make our own concentration camp.”
“An eye for an eye, Yuebai. What do you think?”
Shi Yuebai thought for a moment. “Too much trouble.”
She raised a hand, fingers curled like claws. “I could kill them with one move.”
Ying Ruoying had her own ideas.
She asked Shi Yuebai’s opinion, but Shi Yuebai always gave the simplest, most direct answer.
—It’s Friday again. Sigh, endless homework.
—I’m telling you, I can’t even do fourth-grade math problems."
