Chapter 182: Two Jin of Fat Condenses into a 15-Liter Bucket of Spirit Dew

Scavenging in the Wasteland

The Shi family’s babies, starting with Shi Xiangrui, have never had formula since birth.

What they drink from their bottles is always water condensed by Shi Yuebai.

Every day, Shi Yuebai infuses each of these little babies with about one and a half jin of energy.

Recently, Shi Xiangrui has grown two teeth.

To help her develop chewing skills, Nong Yasi mashes up homegrown vegetables, mixes them with Shi Yuebai’s water, and feeds them to Shi Xiangrui.

She never gives too much at once—just a spoonful or two, maybe three or four at most.

As for the other babies, Shi Yuebai takes care of them.

Shi Yuebai can still manage when she’s only infusing fat energy into Shi Xiangrui and Shi Fuze.

But now, with two more babies added to the mix, Shi Yuebai is starting to get impatient.

Infusing fat energy into babies is nothing like doing it for adults.

With adults, Shi Yuebai is rough and straightforward—she just plumps up their fat layers and calls it a day.

But with babies, she has to be much more careful.

She worries that giving them too much fat will make them unhealthy and overweight, but too little and they’ll end up skinny and malnourished.

Now that Shi Xiangrui has started eating vegetable mush, Shi Yuebai decides to take a different approach. She finds a 15-liter plastic bucket and washes it until it’s spotless.

Then, she draws a spirit-gathering array on the bottom of the bucket.

She begins channeling spiritual energy into the bucket.

Soon, the 15-liter bucket is filled with white mist.

But Shi Yuebai doesn’t stop channeling.

She keeps her fingers locked in a hand seal, eyes fixed on the bucket.

Her weight starts to drop, slowly.

683.9 jin.

683.89 jin.

683.88 jin.

Shi Yuebai keeps compressing the spiritual energy inside the bucket. Gradually, droplets of spirit dew begin to condense on the inside walls of the clear plastic.

The droplets are so large they slide down, one after another, collecting at the bottom of the bucket.

The spirit dew at the bottom glistens with a crystalline sheen.

If you look closely, you can see a fine silver shimmer swirling inside each drop.

Shi Yuebai uses up a full two jin of fat to condense a whole 15-liter bucket of spirit dew.

Now she’s down to 681 jin.

Shi Yuebai sets the bucket of spirit dew outside the inflatable tent and borrows an electric water pump from Guai Guai.

Guai Guai has already installed plenty of outlets inside the Tongzi Frame.

The electrical wiring is hooked up to solar panels by the public restroom and the canal.

The electricity collected by these solar panels is more than enough to meet everyone’s lighting needs in the Tongzi Frame.

Charging an electric water pump is no problem at all.

At feeding time, Paper People No. 1 through No. 8 each carry a baby bottle, climb up to the spirit dew bucket, and fill the bottles.

The eight paper people then go around, feeding each child with a bottle of spirit dew.

Now Shi Yuebai can finally relax.

She no longer has to personally infuse each baby with fat energy, saving herself a lot of time and trouble.

Not long after, Ah Hong comes to Shi Yuebai to complain.

“Xiangrui is such a handful now. She rolls around everywhere, all the way to the spirit dew bucket, insisting on filling her own bottle. She gets spirit dew everywhere!”

“If you try to stop her, she screams and cries.”

“Yuebai, maybe she needs a spanking.”

Ah Hong doesn’t need to ask—just watching the babies drink the spirit dew, she can tell it’s something special.

She knows for sure this bucket is full of good stuff.

Right now, Shi Xiangrui can’t quite press the button on the spirit dew dispenser, and she often misses the spout with her bottle.

Every time Ah Hong isn’t looking, Xiangrui makes a mess, wasting spirit dew everywhere.

It’s really quite a waste.

Shi Yuebai doesn’t even lift her eyelids.

“It’s not like it’s anything valuable, but a spanking is still necessary.”

Who would’ve thought—she’s finally reached a day when spirit dew feels cheap.

In her past life among the Wu clan, Shi Yuebai would have fought tooth and nail for even a bit of spiritual energy.

Let alone spirit dew, which is thousands of times richer than ordinary spiritual energy.

But now, this stuff just isn’t rare to Shi Yuebai anymore.

If she runs out, she can just convert more fat into it.

She’s got plenty of fat to spare anyway.

Shi Yuebai leaves Ah Hong behind and heads toward the public restroom, leaning on her staff.

Behind her, Ah Hong picks up Shi Xiangrui, who’s rolled back to the spirit dew bucket.

She gives Xiangrui a light smack on the butt—not too hard.

Xiangrui wails, reaching her little hands toward Shi Yuebai, grabbing at the air as she stretches.

Shi Yuebai slips away into the big city villa.

Scarface is raging inside the empty villa.

He slaps one of his men across the face.

“Didn’t I tell you to keep watch outside the villa?”

“Where are they? How did they disappear again, huh?!”

They’ve lost people twice now, and still have no idea where they went.

Scarface is getting frantic.

His subordinate, holding his cheek, mutters, “Boss, is this villa haunted?”

They really did keep their eyes wide open, watching the villa doors.

They took shifts all night, no breaks.

But people still disappeared.

If that’s not ghosts, what is it?

Scarface slaps him again.

“Ghosts, my ass! This is the wasteland, not some haunted house!”

He storms off, barking orders as he goes.

“Get out there, all of you! Post more men and keep this villa surrounded!”

“I refuse to believe this place is actually haunted!”

All his men leave, and the villa is empty.

Shi Yuebai walks through the villa, frowning deeply.

Ying Ruoying had cleaned all three floors thoroughly before.

But after Scarface’s men trashed the place a few times, there’s garbage everywhere.

The blood from the last fight has long since dried on the floor.

Since there are no bodies, Scarface doesn’t know if his men are dead or captured.

This unknown threat is making him anxious.

Shi Yuebai sits on the sofa and reviews the progress of the canal project.

They’re still short on manpower.

She decides to snatch a few more of Scarface’s men to dig the canal for her.

Just then, her communicator beeps.

Second Sister-in-law Shi’s voice comes through.

“Yuebai, another group of elderly people has arrived, and there’s a new team too.”

The new team was recruited by Zhang Xueyao earlier.

Second Sister-in-law Shi says that Duan Xiangtong has now become the leader among the group of hostesses.

That’s because Duan Xiangtong has paired up with Gong Chen, the very capable leader of the new team.

He’s the one who put her in charge.

Duan Xiangtong made a big decision—she rallied the women and, with Gong Chen, stirred up trouble outside the second wall.

But after failing to achieve anything, Duan Xiangtong invited Gong Chen’s team to move under the bridge.

When Second Sister-in-law Shi calls Yuebai, Gong Chen and his people are already setting up camp on the riverbed.

“Yuebai, what should we do?”

Second Sister-in-law Shi feels this is dangerous.

Because just this morning, Gong Chen’s people have already scouted around outside the second wall several times.

Last night, I couldn’t sleep from 2 a.m. until after 5, and then got woken up by the alarm at 7.

But thanks to my anti-anxiety and antidepressant meds, I was okay all morning—no low mood or brain fog.

It’s just that there’s so much to do, so I dragged my feet and only managed to update now."
