Chapter 85: When Dreams Bleed into Reality

Wild and Dashing in the 80s

Night fell, and all was silent.

Half-asleep, Su Qinghu vaguely sensed someone entering the room, even approaching her. The sense of danger jolted her awake.

A clearly masculine figure emerged from the darkness, striding unhurriedly toward her bed. With every step, an invisible aura seemed to spread.

Su Qinghu could even make out the powerful lines of his thighs, outlined by his pants—full of explosive strength and tension.

It was… enough to make her scalp tingle!

The man stopped at her bedside, looking down at her with a cold glint in his eyes.

Su Qinghu sucked in a breath. Who the hell was this? Why did he look so much like Chen Lie?

But Chen Lie had already left—he wouldn’t be back anytime soon!

Su Qinghu wanted to run, but her limbs wouldn’t move. She could only watch as the man pulled off the belt from his slender waist.

What the hell is going on? Somebody save me!

As she panicked, the man let out a cold laugh, raised the belt, and swung it at her. “Tonight, I’m going to rid humanity of you!”

In that instant, Su Qinghu could move again. Not only that, she sprang straight up onto the ceiling beam. “Foolish human! Did you forget us demons can fly?!”

Clinging to the beam, Su Qinghu’s mind was a tangled mess. Oh god, what was this? Why was she saying such cringeworthy, childish lines?

“Heh!”

The man sneered, and with a wave of his hand, another person appeared beside him. Su Qinghu looked closer and was shocked—it was Big Egg, Zhang Anyan!

Big Egg snapped to attention. “Dad.”

“Tie her up!” the man commanded.

Big Egg lifted his shirt, revealing his belly button, and shot out spider silk, binding the unsuspecting Su Qinghu.

In a flash, as she was being pulled toward Chen Lie, Su Qinghu flipped midair and locked her arm around his neck, her mouth blurting out, “If you don’t want your dad to die, take back your spider silk!”

Big Egg shouted, and suddenly a smaller child appeared beside him—it was Little Egg.

Little Egg put his hands on his hips and sprayed water at Su Qinghu. “Demon! Let go of my dad! Let go of my dad!”

Drenched like a drowned rat, Su Qinghu stared at Little Egg, so shocked she woke up with a start!

She stared at the ceiling, replaying the dream in her mind, wishing for a cigarette.

Chen Lie she could understand—he was at least human, and it made sense for him to want to destroy her, the “demon.”

But what was up with Big Egg and Little Egg? One was a spider demon? The other a Calabash Kid? And they were both trying to take her out?

They’re all demons—why fight each other?

In the darkness, Su Qinghu blinked, sleep completely gone.

She sat up, turned on the light, spaced out for a while, then lay back down. Glancing at the ceiling, she paused, then couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

As bizarre and absurd as the dream was, it was also kind of fun.

She got up, dug out a new softcover notebook, and jotted down the entire dream in one go.

Of course, as she wrote, she kept replaying the dream dialogue in her head and couldn’t stop laughing.

Afraid of waking the two little demons—no, two kids—she had to stifle her laughter.

The next morning, Big Egg and Little Egg got up first. Seeing that Su Qinghu was still quiet, they thought it was still early, but when they checked outside, the sun was already up.

They knocked on her door.

Su Qinghu had actually woken up at almost the same time. Just as her hand reached the door, she heard the knock.

She raised an eyebrow, opened the door, and greeted them with a barely suppressed smile, mentally matching them to their dream roles.

The older one—a spider demon.

The younger one—a Calabash Kid.

Hahahahahahahaha!

Big Egg looked at Su Qinghu, feeling a little creeped out for some reason. She seemed… off.

Little Egg blinked and tentatively called, “Mom?”

Did she run into something unclean last night, coming home so late? How did the old folks in the neighborhood deal with this kind of thing again?

“Hahaha!” The moment Little Egg spoke, Su Qinghu’s mind flashed back to her dream.

She couldn’t help it—whenever Little Egg spoke, she half-expected him to spray water like the Calabash Kid. Hahaha!

Little Egg shivered at her laughter, goosebumps rising. He blinked, then turned and bolted outside.

He suddenly remembered how the old folks handled this kind of thing!

Su Qinghu watched Little Egg dash out in a panic, puzzled, then turned to Big Egg, her lips twitching upward.

If Big Egg suddenly lifted his shirt to reveal his belly button…

Hahahaha, the image was too much—she dared not even imagine it.

Big Egg forced himself to stand his ground, staring at Su Qinghu, whose gaze was getting weirder and weirder. He even wanted to leave, but hurriedly called out, “You… you…”

Su Qinghu turned back, and he pointed outside. “The sun’s out!”

Huh? Su Qinghu followed his finger. “With sunlight this strong, I think I can tell.”

Even before she got up, she could feel the heat and see the light streaming through the curtains—it was obviously a blazing sunny day.

“You—” Big Egg suddenly remembered her earlier nagging. “Don’t go outside, you’ll get tanned.”

Su Qinghu suddenly leaned in, scrutinizing him. After a moment, she said, “You’re acting weird today.”

Except for when he was in the hospital or just discharged, this kid was always nagging her about not spending money and managing life better, or giving her accusatory looks.

But today, he was reminding her about the sun, worried she’d get tanned?

Weird!

“Tell me, are you hiding something from me?” Su Qinghu faced him, staring him down. “Is it about that ‘helping others’ thing?”

Meeting her gaze, Big Egg suddenly relaxed.

This was Su Qinghu—not some weird thing!

He breathed a sigh of relief, but just then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Little Egg rushing in with a bowl. Before he could stop him, Little Egg dumped the whole bowl of water over Su Qinghu’s head, soaking her completely.

Su Qinghu was stunned. She turned in disbelief, just in time for Little Egg to spray another mouthful of water right at her forehead.

She: “!!!”

Su Qinghu looked at the water dripping down her clothes, touched her soaked hair, and was instantly furious!

“Gao Haisheng!” Su Qinghu took a deep breath, grabbed him, and just as her anger was about to explode, she saw his scared but stubborn face. She took another deep breath, calmed herself a little, set him down, and glared down at him. “You’d better give me a good reason not to spank you! Otherwise, today you’ll find out your butt can be as red as a flower!”

It was just a dream—did it really have to come true in real life?

If only she could dream about winning the lottery and have that come true, too!"
