Chapter 105: Green Jelly Stone
Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era
A glimmer of amusement flashed in Mo Xie’s eyes, the corners of his sharply handsome lips lifting slightly. These past few days, he’d only watched his eldest nephew make others suffer, so seeing this little girl turn the tables on him was actually quite entertaining.
Still, he had to look after his own nephew. He took out a black cotton coat from his storage space and handed it over.
Though the black coat looked bulky and not particularly stylish, it was much better than that eye-searing, bright red one embroidered with giant yellow flowers.
Wu Xingyu didn’t hesitate—he grabbed the coat and hurriedly put it on, then stuffed the garish red one, which had seriously offended his sense of aesthetics, back into his storage space.
He couldn’t let those ten spirit coins go to waste. He’d have to sell it off later.
Yun Qimu just shrugged at this, not saying anything. After all, once the clothes were sold, there were no returns. How he dealt with it was none of her business.
But being stared at by Wu Xingyu’s pitch-black eyes was a little unsettling, so Yun Qimu decisively turned away and walked to the side, heading over to examine the green stones embedded in the ice wall.
She knew there were all sorts of rare ores and stones in the game. She didn’t know the specifics, but she was sure these were valuable.
Just one look at those glowing green stones told her they were something special—maybe even useful.
Wu Xingyu’s gaze followed her as his body gradually warmed up. A hint of regret flashed through his dark eyes.
It was all this damned cold’s fault—his brain had frozen up, and he’d actually forgotten that Village Chief Yun was a mischievous little profiteer.
Thinking about that bright red coat sitting in his storage, which might never sell and could end up as dead stock, his face fell. He looked at Yun Qimu with a new wariness.
This was the first woman who’d ever managed to get the better of him—he’d have to be on guard.
Yun Qimu took out her little golden axe from her storage grid and hacked a few times at the ice wall, successfully prying off a palm-sized, hexagonal green stone. It looked crystal clear and translucent.
She shook it a few times, and something inside wobbled along with it.
[Ding—Congratulations, player, you’ve obtained 1 Green Jelly Stone!]
“Green Jelly Stone.” Yun Qimu’s eyes lit up as she looked at the green stone in her hand.
She knew this name well—she’d seen tons of buying requests for it on the forums.
Rumor had it the texture was super bouncy and chewy, sweet and delicious. She’d even put it on her list of snacks to buy next time—unfortunately, she’d died too early to ever taste it.
Yun Qimu sighed with regret, then happily gripped the Green Jelly Stone with both hands and gave it a hard twist.
With a crisp crack, a jagged fissure split down the middle of the stone like a spiderweb.
She raised an eyebrow, quickly turned it over, and cracked the other side as well.
Now, with two crosswise cracks, she stood the stone upright, grabbed the top, twisted and pulled. The transparent green shell peeled away, revealing the jiggly, bouncy green jelly inside.
A wave of fresh, sweet fragrance wafted out.
Wu Xingyu, who’d been sulking nearby while opening a treasure chest, turned his head in surprise. “What is that?”
“Jelly!” Yun Qimu’s eyes sparkled as she leaned in and took a bite. The jelly was bouncy and cool, and instead of chewing right away, she rolled it around in her mouth—duang, duang, duang—it bounced back and forth, super fun.
Once she’d played enough, she finally bit down. The taste was sweet and unique.
Despite its green color, it actually tasted like peach.
Yun Qimu pursed her lips, the sweetness making her eyes squint with delight.
Wu Xingyu straightened up and walked over, staring intently at the half left in her hand. His throat bobbed. “Is it good?”
Yun Qimu opened her eyes, her dark, glossy pupils sparkling. She nodded excitedly. “It’s delicious! So good! Want to try?”
A light flashed in Wu Xingyu’s eyes and he reached out to take it.
But Yun Qimu simply tipped her head back and popped the rest into her mouth, munching away with gusto.
Seeing his hand frozen awkwardly in midair, she raised an eyebrow and shot him a protective glare. “Trying to steal the fruit of my labor? No way! I worked hard for this. If you want some, dig it out yourself—there’s plenty in the ice wall.”
Without waiting to see his reaction, she took out a small cloth bag from her storage, put the green shell inside, hung the bag at her waist, and happily picked up her golden axe to keep chipping away at the ice wall for more Green Jelly Stones.
That watermelon-sized one looked promising—maybe it’d taste like watermelon.
Wu Xingyu stood there in a daze, frowning at his own hand, annoyed at how disobedient it was.
“Xingyu, let’s go dig some up and try them too,” Mo Xie said, catching a whiff of the cool, sweet scent in the air and growing interested himself.
Wu Xingyu quickly withdrew his hand, awkwardly hiding it behind his back, and turned to reply, “Okay.”
Afraid Yun Qimu would accuse them of freeloading, the uncle and nephew moved a few meters away before starting to dig.
Mo Xie pried off a piece about as thick and long as a finger, cracked it open, and popped it into his mouth. His deep eyes lit up. “It’s mango flavor! Back then, thanks to your mother—my sworn sister—I got to try one. I still remember that taste even now, but this Green Jelly Stone is even fresher and more delicious than the one I had back then.”
He spoke with a touch of nostalgia.
Seeing Wu Xingyu’s expression darken, Mo Xie realized he’d said the wrong thing and quickly changed the subject. “You’ve got one too—hurry and try it, see what flavor you get.”
“Mm.” Wu Xingyu lowered his eyes and nodded. So many years had passed since his mother’s death; though he still felt a pang, it wasn’t as painful as when he was a child.
Following Yun Qimu’s example, he cracked the stone on both sides, twisted it open, and revealed the bouncy jelly inside. Under Mo Xie’s expectant gaze, he took a bite.
It was bouncy, sure, but the bitterness that followed made him instantly grimace.
Mo Xie noticed something was off and asked cautiously, “What flavor did you get?”
Wu Xingyu, determined not to waste food, forced himself to swallow the jelly, then answered with a bitter face, “Bitter melon.”
Mo Xie: …
Well, that was some luck.
No wonder his face looked so sour.
Not knowing what else to say, Mo Xie could only give an awkward laugh. “Looks like the Green Jelly Stones come in all sorts of flavors. And that crystal-clear shell looks special too—Yun Village Chief even saved hers in a bag. We shouldn’t throw ours away either.”
“Mm.”
Wu Xingyu silently pressed his lips together, then, frowning, popped the other half into his mouth and saved the shell."
