Chapter 192: Give Him Two More Pieces of Meat

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

Seeing his expression, Kui Hu immediately understood what was going on. He couldn’t hold back his anger any longer—even his favorite, Hei Mei’er, got pushed aside as he rolled up his sleeves, ready to fight Shen Tu right then and there.

Shen Tu puffed out his solid chest, showing not a hint of fear. In terms of strength, Kui Hu wasn’t even his match.

“What are you two trying to do? Private fights aren’t allowed in the Longteng compound.”

At that moment, Zhong Teng led his patrol squad over. The moment he saw the two of them about to cause trouble, he fixed them with a cold, handsome face and eyes sharp as blades.

The crowd around them immediately scattered, making space for the three groups.

Shen Tu realized this was Longteng’s territory, and he still wanted to make money off Miss Yun’s commissions. So he quickly put on a smile and hurried to explain to Zhong Teng, “It’s a misunderstanding, just a misunderstanding, Boss Zhong. We just had a little argument, that’s all. We’d never cause trouble in Longteng’s compound. Really, it’s all a misunderstanding.”

Zhong Teng’s sharp gaze finally softened a little. He warned them sternly, “As long as it’s a misunderstanding, that’s fine. Today, Miss Yun chose to hold her event at our Longteng compound and even paid us to act as security. We absolutely won’t allow anyone to cause trouble and ruin Miss Yun’s big event. Since it’s just a misunderstanding, I’ll let it go this time. But if it happens again, I’ll throw you both out myself—and Miss Yun will blacklist you, so you’ll never do business with her again.”

Shen Tu’s face instantly twisted in fear. He shook his head frantically, swearing, “No, no, I wouldn’t dare! I absolutely won’t cause any trouble. Please, Boss Zhong, Miss Yun, rest assured.”

Kui Hu snorted, still fuming inside. But with Zhong Teng watching like a hawk, eyes sharp as lightning, ready to strike at the slightest move, Kui Hu had no choice but to swallow his anger and back down.

Seeing the commotion was over, Zhong Teng nodded in satisfaction, leading his patrol team away with a swagger.

After all, they were getting paid for this job—and Miss Yun was paying them handsomely. They had to do their security work well. The bigger and livelier Miss Yun’s gambling stone stall became, the more Longteng would benefit.

There weren’t many jobs this safe with such generous pay, so everyone at Longteng worked together. If Miss Yun needed to borrow the venue, they lent it; if she needed people to drum up business in the streets, they went out and shouted; if she needed a patrol team, Zhong Teng himself led it. Even the elderly volunteered to help watch the stall. It was clear the whole Longteng group was united in helping Yun Qimu build her business.

With Yun Qimu and Kui Hai setting such a good example, more and more people started opening green jadeite stones on the main stage.

Several pieces of sweet jade had already been found. This time, there were no price-raising stooges, and no fat sheep like Kui Hu to fleece, so prices weren’t as high as before. Still, they were two or three times the cost of buying the stones, so no one was losing out.

Watching all this, Shen Tu’s hands itched—he wanted to buy a few green jadeite stones and try his luck on stage too.

Just then, Amei came over and tugged at him.

“Brother Tu, come with me.”

Shen Tu’s eyes lit up, instantly understanding, and was about to follow her when he caught sight of Dayu behind Amei, looking at him with a pitiful, resentful gaze.

Shen Tu: …

He looked himself over, not seeing anything wrong, and asked Dayu in confusion, “Why are you looking at me like that?”

Dayu replied mournfully, “Why didn’t Amei call me? Brother Tu, are you trying to steal my girl?”

Shen Tu was startled, baring his teeth as he slapped Dayu’s shoulder with a big paw and scolded, “What nonsense are you thinking? Am I that kind of person? I just have some business with your wife. When we get back, she’ll tell you all about it.”

Amei, who had already started walking away, turned back and called anxiously, “Brother Tu, hurry up!”

“Oh, coming, coming!” Shen Tu grinned and hurried after her, leaving Dayu behind.

Also left behind was Haozi, Weiwei’s brother, who looked just as confused. “Where are Weiwei and the others going? Why didn’t they ask me to come?”

Dayu glanced at his fellow sufferer, patted his thin shoulder with a palm as big as a fan, and sighed with a sense of shared misery. “Just wait.”

“Oh.” Haozi winced in pain, clutching his shoulder and taking a step back, thinking, Damn, he’s strong. People from Honglian Village really are something else.

Meanwhile, Weiwei and Amei led Shen Tu to meet up with the other girls, and together they quietly made their way to a small courtyard.

After knocking the secret code—three long, one short—the door opened immediately. The girls slipped inside, and Shen Tu squeezed his big frame in after them.

Once the door was shut, the place instantly became lively.

Yun Qimu, who had just returned with Wu Xingyu from an overnight trip, was sitting with her, simmering a pot of meat soup.

Wu Xingyu had also brought along Mo Xie, her little uncle, who’d almost turned into a shut-in from being cooped up in the greenhouse.

When the group of girls came in, pushing and shoving each other, Yun Qimu smiled and held out a steaming, fragrant bowl of meat soup that Miao Bei had handed her. “You’re here!”

The girls took a deep breath, their eyes glued to the big pot over the fire. Even when Yun Qimu spoke, they only nodded absentmindedly, “Mm, we’re here.”

Yun Qimu chuckled. “Want some soup?”

The girls’ eyes lit up, all pretense forgotten as they nodded eagerly. “Yes, yes, yes!”

Shen Tu, the only man among them, nodded even more enthusiastically than a big dog. “I want some, I want some!”

“Then help yourselves. I made a big pot, and there’s plenty. There are bowls over there—everyone can have one.”

The girls’ eyes sparkled even brighter, their smiles outshining each other’s. “Thank you, Qimu!”

“Thank you, Miss Yun!” Shen Tu shouted along with them.

He followed behind the girls, grabbed a bowl, and happily joined the line.

Today was a great day—a truly fantastic day. Not only had he tricked Kui Hu and earned a commission, but now he even got to drink delicious meat soup. He felt incredibly lucky.

Thinking back on it all, he figured he really ought to thank that big idiot Kui Hu.

Miao Bei was ladling out the soup. There weren’t many girls, just about ten, so it was soon Shen Tu’s turn.

He held his big bowl, eyes fixed on the milky-white broth in the pot, swallowing hungrily. He asked shyly, “Could I have a bone? Just one would be enough.”

Miao Bei paused, then turned to look at Yun Qimu.

Yun Qimu smiled and nodded. “Mr. Shen has done us a great service today. One bone isn’t enough—give him two more pieces of meat.”"
