Chapter 194: An Unprecedented Miracle Medicine
Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era
As usual, it was in Yi Beimeng’s room at the Honglian Stronghold.
Yi Beimeng had originally wanted to join the excitement at Longteng, but he had barely stepped out the door when he was blocked by Shen Tu, who came rushing back in a hurry.
With a face full of excitement, Shen Tu pulled out a vial of red potion from his pocket and presented it to Yi Beimeng as if offering up a treasure. “Boss, look! I brought you something good.”
With such a big guy blocking the way, Yi Beimeng had no choice but to retreat back inside. When he saw what Shen Tu was holding, he was a little surprised.
“This is… a potion?”
Resources were scarce on the Exile Star, and pharmacists were nowhere to be found. Occasionally, though, some ships would deliver a batch of potions.
So while potions were rare, they weren’t completely unheard of.
Yi Beimeng had been farsighted enough to bribe a merchant caravan after learning there was a pharmacist in Molan City, establishing a long-term partnership. So he wasn’t particularly desperate for potions.
Besides, because he raised Gu with his own blood, the damage to his body was different from ordinary injuries. Regular potions had no effect on him at all, so seeing Shen Tu bring out a potion didn’t really move him.
He was just a little surprised that the potion was such a vivid crimson, even more beautiful and translucent than fresh blood.
Shen Tu couldn’t read his expression and, still excited, repeated what Yun Qimu had told him—not word for word, since Shen Tu’s memory wasn’t great, but he got the gist across and added plenty of his own embellishments.
In short, he made this potion sound like a miracle medicine, the likes of which had never been seen before.
Yi Beimeng was even less convinced that this potion could heal him.
He twitched his lips and asked, “How much did you pay for this potion?”
Grinning from ear to ear, Shen Tu made a gesture with his hand. “Two thousand five hundred energy credits! Miss Yun said it was supposed to be three thousand, but she gave it to me for two-five because we’re friends.”
Yi Beimeng’s long, narrow phoenix eyes gave him a look. Friends? Did she mean the kind of “friendship” where Shen Tu had paid ten thousand credits for a piece of green jelly stone?
Still, the price wasn’t outrageous. It was more expensive than top-grade nutrient solution, but about the same as a mid-tier potion from the pharmacist in Molan City.
Seeing Shen Tu, such a big guy, looking at him with the eager eyes of a child seeking approval from his father, Yi Beimeng didn’t have the heart to pour cold water on him.
He took the vial, his slender, pale fingers gripping the cap.
Since it came from Miss Yun, it shouldn’t be harmful—at worst, it just wouldn’t live up to Shen Tu’s hype.
“Xiao Bei,” Shi Yong called out disapprovingly from the side.
Yi Beimeng just smiled at him, the corners of his thin lips curling up. “It’s fine.”
Then, under Shen Tu and Shi Yong’s watchful eyes, he popped open the cap and downed the potion in one gulp.
The taste was surprisingly pleasant—sweet, a bit like the Danmu soft candy he’d bought before.
Yi Beimeng smacked his lips, savoring the flavor with a soft chuckle.
But the next second, his expression suddenly changed.
Shi Yong rushed over anxiously. “Xiao Bei!”
Shen Tu also crowded over nervously. “Well? Well? Is it working?”
“Ah—” Yi Beimeng raised a hand to block Shi Yong’s outstretched arm, a low chuckle escaping his throat. “I’m fine, really. In fact, I feel better than I ever have before.”
The usual sinister sharpness in his features was completely washed away by the smile that now lit up his face, and the deep furrow that had marked his brow for years was finally smoothed out.
For once, there was no shadow on his face. His features, pure and strikingly handsome, looked like those of a noble young master.
He looked just like he had before his family was destroyed, before disaster struck—carefree, like a young lord with not a worry in the world.
Shi Yong stared at him, momentarily dazed.
Yi Beimeng himself was oblivious. All he knew was that, for the first time in years, he felt truly comfortable in his own body.
Even when he’d accidentally awakened his powers and grown stronger, he’d never felt this good.
Right now, it was as if he were soaking in a hot spring, warmth flowing through every part of him, so comfortable he almost wanted to close his eyes and drift off.
Shi Yong and Shen Tu also noticed that his face, which had been deathly pale, was now regaining some color. He still looked a bit more haggard than a healthy person, but compared to before, he looked much, much better.
Shi Yong grabbed Shen Tu in excitement, his booming voice ringing out. “Does Miss Yun have any more of this potion? We should buy a few more to keep on hand—this works way better than any of the Chinese medicine I brought!”
Yi Beimeng, in an excellent mood, opened his eyes and nodded in agreement, a rare smile lighting up his striking face.
“Exactly. This is better than any potion I’ve ever tried. Not just for me—you two can use it too. Two thousand five hundred credits is definitely a friends-only price. Shen Tu, see if you can buy another batch from Miss Yun. The Senmuze Hunt is in a couple of days—it’s best to be prepared.”
Shen Tu scratched his head and grinned. “I knew it’d work! I already asked Miss Yun—she said she’s got a few dozen vials left.”
“Oh, and buying the potion from Miss Yun wasn’t my idea—it was Daliu’s wife’s. I just happened to have the credits, so I bought it.”
“Ah, shoot, I forgot to bring Daliu’s wife back with me. If she runs into Kui Hu, that won’t be good. She was the one who helped me get in touch with Miss Yun for the potion. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had the connection.”
Shen Tu looked frustrated.
Yi Beimeng reassured him, “She’s at the Longteng base—nothing will happen. Even if we’re rivals, Zhong Teng is trustworthy.”
“That’s true. And Daliu’s still there too,” Shen Tu said, scratching his head and relaxing a bit. Then he looked at Yi Beimeng. “Boss, I don’t have much left in the way of credits. If we want to buy more potions, I’m not sure I can get another discount from Miss Yun.”
“You’re not paying for it,” Yi Beimeng said with a laugh. “I’ll get you the credits.”
He paused, then added, “Actually, I’ll go myself. I want to see what’s going on over there anyway.”
Feeling better than ever, Yi Beimeng strode into his bedroom and took out his gold belt with the spatial buckle, fastening it around his waist. It looked a bit out of place with his white casual pants, so he tugged his shirt down to cover it.
He’d worn long shirts for years just because of this belt. He wondered if Miss Yun sold spatial buckles—if so, he could finally swap it out.
This gaudy gold belt was really too embarrassing to wear.
Yi Beimeng muttered to himself, feeling happier than he had in a long time."
