Chapter 33: Going All Out
Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era
At the edge of the battlefield.
Yun Qimu clutched her waist, gasping for breath, her brows tightly furrowed as she stared at the chaotic, blood-soaked battlefield ahead. Her already pale face turned even whiter, and her heart sank with a heavy thud.
Mo Xie strode forward to stand by her side. His deep, piercing eyes also fixed on the scene before them, and even he couldn’t help but frown.
Magnetic core storms could occur anywhere on the Exile Star, but those within the Contaminated Zone were by far the most dangerous.
That was because these storms were natural disasters caused by dark matter, and they were saturated with it—making it easy for both people and beasts to lose control.
Within this Contaminated Zone, it wasn’t just the berserk beasts they’d deliberately herded here; there were also powerful ability users, doomed souls infected by dark matter, wandering about. If any of them lost control and self-destructed, it could wipe out dozens in one go—the effect was comparable to a nuclear explosion, a very real threat of death.
On top of that, the concentration of dark matter here was indeed much higher than in other areas. With all these factors combined, it was no surprise that both beasts and ability users would go mad, leading to all-out war on this desolate star.
Almost every year, when the magnetic core storms hit, the Contaminated Zone would reek of blood, striking fear into the hearts of all. Even the most arrogant would tuck their tails and run.
Even Mo Xie, who cultivated abilities using dark matter, wouldn’t dare set foot in this zone lightly during a magnetic core storm.
But this year, the storm seemed to have come earlier than usual—and even dragged the people from Earth Village into it.
Mo Xie was still frowning, trying to figure out a rescue plan, when he saw the frail figure beside him suddenly dart forward, plunging straight into the horde of berserk beasts.
He stared in astonishment, then followed with a displeased frown.
He still hadn’t figured out the connection between Earth Village and this girl. If she died and it affected the village, wouldn’t his land have been bought for nothing?
After spending some time in Earth Village and calming the dark elements within him, Mo Xie was no longer afraid of the berserk beasts. With his SSS-level abilities, he could at least guarantee his own survival.
But what happened next completely upended his expectations.
In the midst of the perilous beast horde, massive berserk beasts with blood-red eyes rampaged wildly, attacking everything in sight. Even their own offspring would be trampled or bitten in this frenzy.
Yet, strangely, all these beasts instinctively avoided the girl ahead. Wherever she passed, both the roaring beasts and the frenzied ability users parted before her like the Red Sea, clearing a wide path.
With her white, elegantly trimmed bell sleeves swaying, Yun Qimu walked steadily down this road, as unshakable as a pillar anchoring the sea.
Her lips pressed together, her exquisite face expressionless, but her dark eyes shone with a commanding light.
With just a glance, the beasts ahead would immediately settle down, moving aside like puppets on strings.
If anyone had seen her expression up close, they might have gasped in awe—was this the legendary “killer gaze”? A look that could make anyone pregnant, or in this case, make beasts step aside. Her eye power was truly formidable.
But Yun Qimu had no such mystical skill; she was using her mental strength.
Her pale lips were bitten so hard they bled, staining her mouth a vivid red against her pallor.
It was clear that Yun Qimu was far from calm or at ease. Controlling berserk beasts was a hundred, a thousand times harder than usual—especially when there were so many of them.
If she had a healthy, strong body, she wouldn’t even bat an eye at these beasts. But now, her broken body couldn’t withstand the strain of such massive mental power.
What’s more, her recent scan had revealed that Father Yun was already covered in blood, and Old Tang and the others were barely holding on. She couldn’t afford to worry about her own body now—she had to go all out, using everything she had to rescue them and get back to Earth Village as quickly as possible.
With this thought, Yun Qimu, now more than halfway through the horde, stopped holding back. Her overwhelming mental power surged out, targeting the berserk beasts. Mo Xie, following behind, suddenly froze, his deep eyes widening in shock as he looked ahead.
What a powerful sense of oppression—was it really coming from her? Who on earth was she…?
An invisible aura rippled outward, pushing back the raging winds. Around Yun Qimu, the howling gales fell silent. Giant beasts were lifted by invisible hands gripping the napes of their necks and tossed aside like trash, flattening swathes of the horde.
Her powerful presence and dangerous aura spread, swiftly and brutally suppressing the entire battlefield.
This was her domain, her territory. Here, she was the master—she was a god.
Across most of the battlefield, berserk humans and beasts howled in fear, shrinking back from Yun Qimu’s direction like frightened dogs, instinctively cowering and trembling.
In this moment, their sense of danger overpowered their frenzy, and the blood-stained path before Yun Qimu grew ever smoother.
On the other side—
“Ooowoo…” Several berserk beasts suddenly whimpered and lowered themselves, startling Tang En, who had been fighting like a madman, numb and convinced his end was near.
Swinging his heavy iron sword, he spun in place, stumbling a few steps before coming to a stop, leaning on his blade.
He looked around in confusion, panting.
W-what just happened?
“Tang En.”
Hearing a familiar voice, Tang En turned instinctively—and saw Yun Qimu’s pale, frail face.
He panicked, blinking rapidly, muttering anxiously to himself: It’s over, it’s over, I’m hallucinating. Am I about to die?
“Tang En.” The voice called again.
Mo Xie walked over and slapped him on the shoulder.
Tang En snapped back to reality, eyes wide as he stammered, pointing at Yun Qimu, “You—you’re really here, Miss Yun? How did you get here? And who’s this guy?”
Glancing warily at the impeccably dressed, handsome Mo Xie, Tang En’s guard immediately went up.
“Don’t worry about how I got here. Where are Xiaoyu and the others? Take me to them—quick, we need to get back to Earth Village,” Yun Qimu said urgently, the stabbing pain inside her warning that she couldn’t hold out much longer. And the magnetic core storm was about to get even worse.
“Ah, oh, right!” Tang En’s face turned serious as he quickly replied, “I hid the kids in a cave—they should be fine. The ones in trouble are my old man and Uncle Yun.”
He hesitated, swallowing hard, his expression conflicted. “Given their current state, it won’t be easy to get them out.”
Following his gaze, Yun Qimu saw Father Yun and Old Tang, eyes bloodshot, hacking their way through the beasts she’d suppressed, fighting their way to the other side to join the ragged group of local survivors.
But both men were clearly on the verge of losing control, their eyes teetering on the edge of madness, about to fully berserk."
