Chapter 94: Putting It On Him With My Own Hands
Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era
“As expected of Chief Yun—he’s the king of luck, the emperor of luck!”
The Tengu clansmen and the people from the Poor Whale Tribe clicked their tongues in amazement, their faces full of envy.
“What did Chief Yun draw? What did he get?”
Pei Yu, who had rushed over in a hurry, was blocked outside the crowd, hopping anxiously. He clung to someone’s shoulder, craning his neck to look inside, but those big guys completely blocked his view. He couldn’t see a thing, so he could only stand outside, huffing and puffing, listening to the big guys’ exclamations and trying to guess what had happened.
Yuan An, who had come along with Wu Xingyu, also poked his little head in cheerfully. “Let me see, let me see! What good stuff did you get?”
Yun Qimu walked out from the crowd, her delicate brows raised, smiling brightly as she looked at Wu Xingyu standing on the other side.
“It’s the good thing you wanted.”
Wu Xingyu’s dark, lifeless eyes suddenly lit up as he looked at Yun Qimu. “The Luck Badge?”
“That’s right, it’s this one. I’ll give you a friendship price—100,000 spirit coins. Want it?”
The starlight in Wu Xingyu’s big cat eyes dimmed a bit, and his excitement faded.
Yun Qimu raised an amused eyebrow. “What’s wrong, too expensive? Last time I said I’d charge you a million or so spirit coins, you know. This time I’m only asking for 100,000 because we’re partners. You’ll be running the trade caravans from now on—if you’re too unlucky to make any money, I’ll lose out too. So I thought I’d boost your luck a bit. But if you don’t want it, then I’ll just—”
“I want it. 100,000. I’ll buy it.” Wu Xingyu cut her off decisively, sensing she was about to say something he didn’t want to hear.
After more than twenty years of bad luck, Wu Xingyu longed to reduce his misfortune so much that he even forgot to be stingy.
Yun Qimu smiled. “Alright, this Luck Badge is yours.”
The two of them exchanged money and goods. Wu Xingyu even shamelessly tried to get Yun Qimu, with her super S-rank luck, to provide after-sales service—by putting the badge on him herself.
Pei Yu: My whole family is shocked. This little brat is flirting—blatantly flirting!
Mo Xie looked gratified: My nephew finally knows how to get close to girls. Not bad, not bad.
Yuan An and Yun He: There’s no way our third brother, with his blockhead of a brain, would deliberately get close to a girl. He’s just after Chief Yun’s good luck.
The locals around them all grinned knowingly.
Only the two at the center of the storm remained unchanged—one still expressionless, the other calm as ever.
Yun Qimu’s smile didn’t waver. “This isn’t after-sales service—it’s an in-purchase personal service, so it’s not free.”
She blinked and held up three fingers. “It’ll cost you three spirit coins, dear.”
Wu Xingyu only thought for a moment, then nodded with his usual wooden face. “Deal.”
He handed the Luck Badge back to Yun Qimu, then took out three spirit coins and gave them to her.
The translucent spirit coins, glowing with a purple light, looked especially beautiful and satisfying in her fair palm.
Yun Qimu closed her hand and put them away in her storage compartment.
Then, holding the Luck Badge in her left palm, she opened the pin and moved closer to Wu Xingyu.
“Bend down a little.”
Obediently, Wu Xingyu bent down, his soft, shiny black hair falling over his shoulders, swaying in the wind—and brushing against Yun Qimu’s face.
There was a faint, cool, refreshing scent.
Smells pretty good, Yun Qimu thought, then ruthlessly grabbed the two stray strands and tossed them aside.
She quickly pinned the badge on him, patted it, then stepped back a couple of paces to admire her handiwork.
A lucky koi and a poker-faced beauty—surprisingly, they matched quite well.
“Mengji—”
“Mengji, mengji, mengji—”
Before Pei Yu could tease them, a chorus of roars came from the direction of the mountains.
Countless Mengji heads popped up over the hill, followed by their full bodies.
Some were bigger than the one before, some smaller.
It looked like they’d stirred up a whole nest of Mengji beasts.
“Whoa, so many beasts! No need to fight over them now.”
Their eyes glowed red, tails lashing, as they leapt nimbly down the hill, quickly surrounding Yun Qimu and the others.
“Attack.”
Yun Qimu retreated to the Tengu clansmen, her face cold as she gave the order.
“Yes!”
The Tengu warriors immediately straightened up and launched their attack.
This time, Yun Qimu didn’t just stand by. The golden Pangu Axe in her hand grew larger, and with a single swing, blood sprayed from the Mengji beasts as gashes opened across their necks. If they’d been a second slower, their throats might have been cut clean through.
But the crazed Mengji beasts, undeterred by death, continued to lunge at Yun Qimu and the others, except for those whose encirclement had been broken.
“Golden Giant Fist!” Ava roared, jumping in to fill the gap.
As the toughest metal-type ability user, he was armored head to toe in metal and charged fearlessly into the Mengji horde, swinging golden fists with unstoppable force.
Each punch sent a beast flying.
Though the blood loss wasn’t much, the spectacle was truly impressive.
Yun Qimu watched with admiration—this hire was absolutely worth it!
Luke’s blood was boiling. “Ava’s getting stronger and stronger. Let’s join in too!”
“Yes, Chief!”
Pei Yu didn’t rush into the fight. Instead, his eyes sparkled as he negotiated with Wu Xingyu. “Hey, kid, let’s team up. You whittle these Mengji down to low health, and I’ll finish them off for the loot drops. I feel like my luck’s off the charts lately—I’m bound to get something good!”
Wu Xingyu glanced at him, then at the petite figure swinging the giant golden axe, and snorted. “Her luck is better.”
Pei Yu nodded in agreement. “Yeah, Chief Yun’s luck is really something. She’s the queen of luck. But she won’t team up with me.”
Wu Xingyu shot him a cold look.
“No need. I’ll just test out the Luck Badge myself.”
With that, Wu Xingyu headed straight for the densest cluster of Mengji beasts.
Ability activated: Time Reversal.
Nearly twenty Mengji beasts instantly turned into fluffy little snowballs.
The fierce Mengji, mid-pounce, shrank and flailed their tiny paws in the air, their furry little faces bewildered, beastly eyes full of panic, squeaking “mengji, mengji” as they dropped like dumplings.
The little snowballs landed unsteadily in the snow, tumbling over themselves and looking even sillier. But they hadn’t forgotten that the man in front of them was their enemy.
One by one, they wagged their tails and, rolling and stumbling, made their way to Wu Xingyu’s feet, gnawing at his combat boots with their tiny milk teeth.
So fierce, in their own way.
Even Yun Qimu, fighting the big Mengji in the distance, was overwhelmed by the cuteness.
But the cold and ruthless Wu Xingyu drew his big sword and, with swift, efficient movements, dispatched the fluffy beasts one by one.
Yun Qimu: What a waste!
Good night~"
