Chapter 104: Where Are the People?

I Farm In The Apocalypse

“I damn well collected a batch of giant stones before you guys arrived,” Jing Shu groaned. Suddenly, another stone shot into the windshield. The problem was, at that moment, she couldn’t approach the blazing fire; otherwise, she would have surely sent that stone from the car into her space as well.

Now, the car was nothing but a shell, but the stones inside were bright red and eye-catching, along with charred skeletal remains that were utterly gruesome.

How could she explain this? She hadn’t even finished collecting evidence from the scene before so many people arrived.

Jing Shu spoke seriously, “You might not believe it, but at that time, I moved a lot of stones to block this corner. Who knew there were too many people, causing them to swerve and tip over to the other side, crashing into the stones, breaking the glass, and that’s why there were stones in the car.”

The old police officer following Yang Yang frowned, “You’re saying the cars first tipped over and then stones broke the glass? But from a physics standpoint, clearly the stones hit first, causing the cars to crash into them…”

Before he could finish, Yang Yang interrupted him, “So, was all this intense gasoline spilled by you?”

Jing Shu shook her head, “You might not believe it if I told you, but I think they brought their own gasoline. After the cars flipped, they leaked oil, causing this horrendous incident. I only used a crossbow to kill a few people from the back. Don’t cars in movies usually catch fire and explode after tipping over? These two cars did the same.”

With so much gasoline, how could she explain the source? The problem was she was driving the car empty-handed.

Yang Yang showed a mocking expression, “You’re saying all this was a coincidence? You just moved a few stones here, then these two cars flipped and caught fire, exploding, leaving no survivors. Is that what you mean?”

Jing Shu nodded as earnestly as a chick pecking at rice, “Yes, exactly that.”

“I don’t believe you,” Yang Yang smiled, muttering to himself.

Yang Yang then looked puzzled at the people beside him, “And who are these two?”

Jing Shu was holding a box, stepping on someone, and a disheveled young man stood beside.

“These are She Tian’s third member, Zhang Qiang, and my informant that I arranged in advance with She Tian,” Jing Shu calmly placed the black box behind her.

“Don’t worry, we won’t interfere with your spoils, but I’m very interested in Zhang Qiang…”

“My cousin was captured by She Tian’s second member, Shangguan Jun. I might have to use this person as a hostage to exchange for my cousin. We might also need your help to guard the villa with some of your people. I’m afraid they’re getting desperate and might jump the gun,” Jing Shu said. Although she was keeping in touch with her grandparents and everything was normal on the villa’s side, Jing Shu was still afraid of being double-crossed.

“Alright, this time it’s not a loss when going out. Lend me Zhang Qiang for a while.”

...

Jing Shu was truly afraid that Yang Yang would kill Zhang Qiang. After thinking it over, she decided to haul Zhang Qiang into the patrol car, letting Wang Dazhao follow beside her, while her parents drove the BYD Song behind the patrol cars to the place Wang Dazhao mentioned.

As it turned out, Jing Shu’s fears were correct. As soon as they got into the car, Yang Yang pulled out his long needle, filled it with water, and injected it into the semi-conscious Zhang Qiang’s body. Yang Yang showed a satisfied expression, thinking about intimidating Zhang Qiang a bit first.

Zhang Qiang was awakened by the pain, writhing in agony. Wang Dazhao turned his head, the entire car was unusually quiet, seemingly accustomed to Yang Yang’s perverted behavior.

Zhang Qiang’s massive body started to twist uncontrollably like a maggot. Jing Shu felt a bit annoyed.

Because Wang Dazhao had told her bad news.

“Shangguan Jun is the most perverted person in She Tian because he loves torturing people the most. He also likes to extract information while torturing, but once he gets the information he wants, he kills the person because he thinks it’s no fun without a new sensation.”

Jing Shu’s heart began to sink bit by bit. What about Wu Youai? According to her calm personality, such a person wouldn’t fear death, but whether she could endure the torture was another matter. What if she died and had to explain it to her grandparents and aunt?

She kicked the kneeling Zhang Qiang hard, “Be honest!”

With a thud, Zhang Qiang completely passed out.

Everyone in the car swallowed hard again. The force of that kick was unexpectedly strong, even making Yang Yang take a surprised look at Jing Shu. “This monstrous girl! Carrying a two-hundred-pound man like a toy!”

Soon, they arrived at She Tian’s second base, a long-abandoned office building a few hundred meters from Aijia Supermarket.

“Mom, Uncle, you stay here and wait. I and Officer Yang Yang will go inside and check it out first,” Jing Shu decided not to involve her parents at the scene. She had already prepared for the worst.

But as long as Wu Youai was alive, she had a way to save her!

She just hoped she wouldn’t be too late!

Thinking about this, Jing Shu hurried her steps with Zhang Qiang, while Wang Dazhao couldn’t keep up even with jogging.

Yang Yang gave a few hand signals, “Split up into a few groups, surround all the exits.”

Entering through the main door, Jing Shu climbed the stairs dragging Zhang Qiang to the fourth floor. It was very quiet here, no one present.

“This is strange, there should be people at the entrances, and there should definitely be someone here,” Wang Dazhao frowned, “Did they already know things were exposed and leave early? No, it’s only been less than an hour since the incident.”

“Leaving makes it more troublesome, and I don’t know if they brought hostages,” Jing Shu passed the first door. Wang Dazhao’s flashlight illuminated a corpse lying on the ground with countless knife wounds.

“He’s Xiao Liu from the community. Isn’t he supposed to be a bodyguard for Qian Duo Duo? How is he here?”

Jing Shu quickly moved to the second door. The flashlight revealed a person whose limbs were brutally twisted into a ball, with a distorted expression of pain on their face.

Yang Yang licked his lips, excitedly saying, “I didn’t expect someone to be more perverted than me. I’d love to meet the legendary Shangguan Jun.”

They reached the third locked door. Jing Shu kicked it open with one swift kick, the door flying off due to excessive force. The people behind them swallowed hard again.

No one!

Every time she passed a door, Jing Shu’s heart sank a bit more. She then saw a big aunt from the community—the one who had asked her for water for the first time. Now, she was soaked in a pool of polluted, dark green water. As the flashlight shone on her, she saw countless decomposed insects feasting on the corpse in the water, then entering through her eyes and exiting through her nostrils. The aunt had been soaking for hours, beginning to swell and grotesque.
