Chapter 134: The Most Special Girl
Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies
After they’d come to an agreement, An Nan picked up a mouthful of noodles and stuffed them into her mouth.
Then she asked, “When do you plan to make a move?”
Gu Zhiyu replied, “There’s no rush. We’ll wait for a moment when everyone’s drinking water at the same time.”
An Nan nodded. That was what she’d been thinking too.
Haste makes waste.
This group was different from Er Kui’s gang, who only had hammers and kitchen knives and were powerless against her gun.
In the base, there were eight people openly carrying guns, but who knew how many more had them in secret? They’d have to take down every single one.
Otherwise, if she tried to attack Zhu Dazhuang, it’d be easy for someone else to shoot her in the back.
Seeing An Nan eating so heartily, Gu Zhiyu picked up some noodles himself and took a bite.
An Nan couldn’t help but watch his expression. “Well? How is it?”
After yesterday’s tomato meat sauce pasta, she’d realized Gu Zhiyu knew a thing or two about good food.
She couldn’t help but feel competitive.
Gu Zhiyu swallowed his noodles before saying, “Not bad.”
Just “not bad”?
An Nan felt a little unwilling.
“Be specific. What’s ‘not bad’ about it?”
“The noodles are just the right texture—springy and smooth. The sauce is rich and flavorful. But…”
He paused. “When you dilute the sesame paste, adding a bit of sesame oil would make it even better.”
An Nan craned her neck, took another bite, then admitted a little deflated, “You’re right.”
Gu Zhiyu chuckled softly, took a sip of mung bean soup, and added, “It’s already very good. You cook better than my chef.”
An Nan’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
Gu Zhiyu’s personal chef had to be top-tier.
But then she remembered something and sighed. “Still not as good as you.”
The noodles he’d made yesterday had been flawless.
Gu Zhiyu nodded. “Mm, not as good as me.”
An Nan had expected him to be polite, but instead, he responded with such sincere self-confidence that she almost burst out laughing.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Are you a perfectionist? Do you have to be the best at everything you do?”
Gu Zhiyu thought for a moment. “I think you’re the perfectionist here.”
She even wanted to outdo him at making noodles—she was clearly a fiercely competitive perfectionist.
An Nan shook her head. “Not me. I’m just naturally perfect, with hardly any flaws.”
Gu Zhiyu’s hand, holding the chopsticks, froze midair.
He suddenly remembered the time she’d belted out a song in the stairwell of Kangwang Apartments…
He couldn’t help but smile, the corners of his mouth lifting.
If her tone-deaf singing could be chalked up to having an interesting soul, then she really was perfect.
It was the first time An Nan had seen Gu Zhiyu laugh so openly, even his eyebrows lifting with joy.
The usual cold, noble air was gone, replaced by a sunny, youthful ease.
She found herself staring, momentarily entranced.
But she quickly snapped out of it. Was he…laughing at her??
She was about to protest when Gu Zhiyu, lips pressed together, said,
“Truly perfect. You’re the most special girl I’ve ever met.”
With a beautiful, harmless face, but a heart as ruthless as the King of Hell himself.
Someone so fierce, yet singing off-key in the cutest way.
She looked so cool and aloof, as if nothing could move her, but then she’d turn around and grope the back of his SUV like a hooligan.
He couldn’t even guess how many faces this mysterious woman had.
Even when Long Cong’an described the “she-devil” mowing people down with a gun, he couldn’t help but think she must have looked incredibly badass.
An Nan could sense that he wasn’t mocking her, but was genuinely happy from the inside out.
She didn’t know what exactly he found so amusing, but she had to admit—this guy’s smile was really something.
Gu Zhiyu laughed for a while, then stopped.
Looking at An Nan, who was staring at him, he couldn’t help but think of her dog, Fugui.
Like owner, like dog.
This woman was definitely a sucker for good looks.
It wasn’t the first time he’d caught her staring at his face in a daze.
He smiled again and couldn’t help but ask, “Am I good-looking?”
But An Nan replied, “You’re alright. Not as good-looking as me.”
Gu Zhiyu was stunned for a second, then burst out laughing even more. “You’re right, I’m not as good-looking as you.”
The meal ended in a light and cheerful atmosphere.
An Nan cleared the dishes and was about to go upstairs to rest when Gu Zhiyu called out to her.
“An Nan, my arm’s still a bit weak.”
An Nan looked at him, puzzled.
What was this? Was he trying to milk sympathy out of her?
Gu Zhiyu pressed his lips together. “It’s weak—I can’t even flip a spatula. Would you mind including me in your meals for the next few days?”
As if worried she’d refuse, he added, “Since we’ve decided to work together, sharing meals will help us build teamwork for our operations.”
An Nan almost laughed.
This guy was actually using “teamwork” as an excuse to freeload meals off her.
But she nodded in agreement—after all, she was the one who’d injured him.
She added, “You provide the ingredients.”
A lot of the food in her space couldn’t be brought out openly.
Gu Zhiyu smiled and agreed, “Sure. I’ll do the dishes too.”
An Nan went back to the third floor for a nap. As soon as she woke up, she heard a commotion outside.
She pulled back the curtains and saw the neighbors returning.
But judging by their appearance, things hadn’t gone well. Most of them were injured, and there was no sign of victory on their faces.
For the next two days, the inner villas were eerily quiet.
Just as An Nan and Gu Zhiyu were wondering if it was time to make their move, Hou Jianming suddenly launched a second operation.
Once again, they were attacking the Longhu Base.
Last time, they’d fallen into an ambush. Of the four hundred or so inner residents, over a hundred had been killed or wounded.
They’d had guns, but never managed to use their advantage.
This time, Zhu Dazhuang was still leading the team. Every inner resident was mobilized, and they even brought along a lot of outer residents, marching in force toward Longhu Base.
This time, An Nan joined in, planning to test Zhu Dazhuang’s strength—and ideally, take him out in the chaos.
She held Fugui’s leash and walked at the very back of the group with Gu Zhiyu.
“Zhu Dazhuang deliberately brought the outer residents and put them in front. He’s planning to use them to clear the traps,” she said.
Gu Zhiyu agreed, “Mm. We’ll stay in the back.”
Sure enough, outside the gate of Longhu Base, nearly all the outer residents were wiped out before the inner residents finally managed to break through.
Inside, the Longhu Base people were ready and waiting, and the two sides quickly clashed.
But the inner residents were all elites, and they quickly gained the upper hand.
In the chaos, An Nan squeezed forward, hoping to take out Zhu Dazhuang, but found his skills surprisingly good.
Every move was precise and efficient—clearly a trained fighter.
Just as she spotted an opening and was about to make her move, a figure suddenly rushed toward her.
“Bad woman! It’s you!”"
