Chapter 135: The Return of the Man with Glasses

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

An Nan had been completely focused on Zhu Dazhuang.

Startled by the sudden shout, she immediately noticed a figure pushing through the crowd, heading straight for her.

She instinctively dodged to the side, putting some distance between them. Then, taking a closer look, she blurted out:

“The double-standard guy with glasses?”

It was the same bespectacled man who had meddled when she was teaching that brat a lesson for scratching car doors.

He was storming toward her, face twisted in anger, wielding a large machete.

“You wicked woman! You almost got me killed! And now you’re invading my home!”

An Nan frowned. Is this guy out of his mind? When did she ever get him beaten up?

She clearly remembered seeing him viciously beating up the brat when she left.

Back then, she’d just thought he was a sanctimonious hypocrite, but now it seemed like his whole brain was wired wrong.

What grudge does he have against her to be this furious?

His outburst had already drawn Zhu Dazhuang’s attention.

An Nan was annoyed. Damn this troublemaker—couldn’t he have picked a better time to cause a scene?

Seeing his first swing miss as An Nan dodged, the man with glasses flushed with rage and slashed at her neck with a second swing.

An Nan narrowed her eyes dangerously.

This “do-gooder” was out for her life from the get-go?

She stopped dodging and instead charged straight at him.

Not far away, Gu Zhiyu was swiftly dealing with two thugs. When he saw this, his breath caught.

But An Nan slipped past the blade at an almost impossible angle, darted behind the man with glasses, grabbed his head with both hands, and—with a sudden twist—snapped his neck.

Gu Zhiyu let out a sigh of relief.

No wonder she’s called the Little King of Hell.

Fast, precise, ruthless.

The others, however, were far less composed.

A furious shout rang out nearby: “Xiao Yang!!!!”

A burly, bald man burst out of a nearby building, charging straight at An Nan.

Zhu Dazhuang, seeing him, immediately raised his gun and fired, but whether it was poor aim or the bald man’s speed, all three shots missed.

The bald man didn’t even spare Zhu Dazhuang a glance. Eyes bloodshot, he kept shouting “Xiao Yang!” as he angrily raised a nail gun and fired at An Nan.

An Nan reacted instantly, rolling to the ground and dodging with ease. She even grabbed the now-lifeless man with glasses to use as a shield.

Who was this guy?

A relative of the double-standard glasses guy? A friend?

Seeing her use the corpse as a shield only made the bald man angrier.

“You venomous woman! Put Xiao Yang down!”

He raised the nail gun to fire again.

But before An Nan could react, Fugui—who had been blending into the crowd—suddenly lunged at the bald man.

On the way, he even used someone’s waist as a springboard.

Fugui sank his teeth into the bald man’s neck, growling fiercely and biting down hard.

The bald man, focused entirely on An Nan, never saw the dog coming. With Fugui’s powerful leap, he was knocked to the ground.

His head hit the floor, and Fugui’s jaws clamped down on his neck, refusing to let go.

He struggled in vain for a moment, then began to convulse, and soon lost all signs of life.

Not just the others—even An Nan was stunned by the scene.

That fierce, savage beast—was that really her little princess Fugui, who whined for attention every day at home?!

Sure enough, it was him. The guy Fugui had used as a springboard was still sprawled on the ground in a twisted heap from the force.

An Nan looked on with satisfaction.

Well done, Fugui!

When you strike, you take down two at once! All that training really paid off.

She beckoned, and Fugui immediately let go of the bald man, bounding happily over to her.

“Boss!!!!!!”

With a wail, the battlefield fell silent. Everyone stopped fighting.

The lackeys from the Longhu Base rushed to the bald man’s corpse, wailing, while others stood frozen in shock.

The two sides had been unevenly matched from the start; the Longhu Base members had only been holding on by sheer will. Now, leaderless, they gave up all resistance.

An Nan couldn’t help but twitch her lips at the scene.

What just happened?

Did Fugui just kill the base leader?

Zhu Dazhuang glanced thoughtfully at the blood-soaked dog and at An Nan beside him.

Then he ordered his men to round up everyone from Longhu Base.

This battle was a complete victory for the Mountain and the Base.

They seized a huge amount of supplies, vehicles, gasoline, and even filled a truck with scantily clad women to take back.

An Nan looked at the truckload of women and felt uneasy.

Gu Zhiyu glanced at her. “Feeling soft-hearted? Want to save them?”

She shot back, “What about you?”

Gu Zhiyu was silent for a moment. “We can’t save them.”

An Nan pressed her lips together. “Exactly.”

It was obvious what kind of life these women had led at Longhu Base.

Now, being taken away as spoils of war, there was no panic on their faces—only numbness.

For them, it was just moving to another base with a different name, continuing the same life.

Even if An Nan saved them, they’d likely just be captured by another group and suffer elsewhere.

That’s the way the world was now.

If you’re strong, you get to choose how you live.

If you’re weak, you don’t—unless you’re lucky enough to find a powerful protector.

An Nan never intended to be that protector. At best, she could only look after Fugui.

Actually, Fugui didn’t even need her protection anymore—he could protect her now.

An Nan stroked his head affectionately. “Good boy! Well done today!”

Fugui, pleased with the praise, nuzzled her hand obediently.

Then, as if by accident, he rubbed against Gu Zhiyu’s leg.

An Nan: …

Whose little rascal is this? She didn’t know him!

Gu Zhiyu laughed and said to An Nan,

“What breed is your dog? He’s almost like a spirit beast.”

An Nan, as usual, made something up. “I’m not sure, seems like a mutt.”

But Gu Zhiyu wasn’t so easily fooled.

He said seriously, “Looks like a French Bulldog to me. But with that size, I’d say he’s mutated.”

An Nan was taken aback.

This man had hit the nail on the head about Fugui’s situation.

Did he have X-ray vision or something?

Most people would just think Fugui was some rare breed, not a mutant.

Noticing the wariness on her face, Gu Zhiyu smiled.

“Relax. The Gu family has no interest in animal research. We won’t be dissecting Fugui.”

He paused, then added, “But you should watch out for the Taiyu Group. Their young master loves animal experiments.”

“Taiyu Group?”

The same group she’d cleaned out from an entire building before? The perpetual runner-up?"
