Chapter 140: The Sudden Kiss

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

An Nan first let out a snort, then frowned and said, “I really didn’t notice. I can’t believe he actually has that kind of intention.”

Thinking of Hou Jianming’s sharp, monkey-like face, she couldn’t help but shudder.

Is this guy crazy? What is he fantasizing about?

Curious, she asked Gu Zhiyu, “How did you figure it out?”

Gu Zhiyu didn’t answer, only reminding her, “He’s cunning and calculating. Stay away from him as much as possible. Leave it to me.”

An Nan nodded.

Hou Jianming was already Gu Zhiyu’s target, and all she wanted was to deal with Zhu Dazhuang as soon as possible.

Once she figured out what was going on, she actually felt relieved.

After all, whatever Hou Jianming thought, she and Gu Zhiyu weren’t that kind of relationship. As for Su Su, she could stir up trouble however she liked.

It was even better if their enemies were all distracted by romance and drama. No one would ever guess the two of them were here to take someone’s head.

After dinner, Gu Zhiyu got up to wash the dishes.

An Nan was still thinking about their earlier promise to spar.

“Once I’ve digested a bit, want to have a match?”

She glanced at his arm. “Is your arm up for it?”

Gu Zhiyu’s lips curled. “I’ll give you one arm.”

Oh, really now!

An Nan’s eyes widened. “Aren’t you cocky!”

Gu Zhiyu replied, “Not really, just a little worse than you.”

An Nan said, “Give me an hour to digest, then I’ll show you what real strength looks like.”

With that, she planned to take Fugui upstairs to rest.

But since she and Gu Zhiyu had been chatting while eating, dinner had dragged on, and the dog had already fallen asleep from boredom.

An Nan gently shook him. “Fugui, time to go home!”

Fugui rolled over and started snoring loudly.

An Nan: …

You’re so big now, there’s no way I can carry you!

Gu Zhiyu looked at Fugui’s dopey appearance and, amused, patted his head. “Let him sleep. We’ll be sparring again in an hour anyway.”

An Nan thought for a moment, then nodded. “Alright.”

Gu Zhiyu thoughtfully handed her a tablet. “Watch something to kill time.”

Then he went back to washing dishes.

There were plenty of movies and TV shows stored on the tablet, but what surprised An Nan was that the viewing history was all “Empresses in the Palace.”

Her go-to classic mealtime drama.

And Gu Zhiyu, this big CEO, actually liked watching this?

She glanced up at his tall, cool figure, unable to imagine him binge-watching dramas…

An Nan randomly picked a movie to watch. She’d only just started when the sofa beside her suddenly dipped.

Gu Zhiyu had sat down.

He leaned over and asked, “What are you watching?”

An Nan helpfully moved the tablet closer to him. “Just something random, ‘Ex-Files 3’.”

“Is it good?”

“I don’t know, it’s an old movie from twenty years ago. Never seen it.”

The two of them sat quietly, watching together.

They watched as Lin Jia stuffed herself with mangoes and Meng Yun put on the golden headband, pretending to be the Monkey King.

Gu Zhiyu frowned. “What are they doing?”

An Nan replied, “Saying a final goodbye to each other.”

Gu Zhiyu: “But they’re in love, why say goodbye?”

An Nan sighed. “One thought the other would never leave, the other thought they’d be asked to stay. They missed their chance.”

Gu Zhiyu snorted. “Useless man.”

An Nan laughed. “So if you were the guy, you’d ask her to stay?”

Gu Zhiyu pressed his lips together. “If it were me, she wouldn’t be able to leave that room.”

An Nan nodded in agreement. “If I were the girl, I wouldn’t leave either—I’d just beat the other person into submission.”

Gu Zhiyu laughed too. “A fight?”

An Nan nodded. “Let’s do it!”

They’d agreed to spar in an hour, but before they knew it, two hours had passed as they watched the movie.

Both stood up, eager for action.

An Nan made the first move.

Since it was just a friendly match, she didn’t go all out, but Gu Zhiyu easily dodged and quickly counterattacked.

An Nan, a bit flustered, dodged a few moves, then got serious.

Gu Zhiyu was stronger than she’d expected.

He even kept his promise—not using his right arm for power.

An Nan’s competitive spirit was ignited. She stopped holding back, attacking with full force, forcing Gu Zhiyu to retreat step by step.

Her style was a wild mix: some Sanda from college, some recent martial arts, and some lethal moves honed during four years in the apocalypse.

She didn’t care about technique—she just threw everything at him.

Gu Zhiyu was thrown off for a few seconds by her unpredictable style, but quickly calmed down and countered each move.

He wasn’t as aggressive as An Nan, but he was agile and even stronger.

Back and forth they went, neither able to gain the upper hand.

Fugui, who had been sleeping soundly nearby, was startled awake by the sounds of fighting. Just as he opened his eyes, he was knocked over by a stray kick.

He immediately started grumbling.

When he got up and took a closer look, he realized it was his owner and the handsome guy fighting.

What the heck?

Weren’t they just happily cooking and eating together? How did they end up fighting after just one nap?

Fugui anxiously looked left and right, unsure who to help. After two seconds of hesitation, he gritted his teeth: Help Sister Nan!

I’m a loyal dog—no matter how handsome the guy is, I can’t forget my roots!

With a howl, he lunged at Gu Zhiyu.

The two in the middle of their tussle were both startled.

Fugui’s attack was no joke—if he bit someone’s neck, they’d be halfway to the afterlife.

Gu Zhiyu immediately pulled back, retreating quickly to avoid the dog.

But An Nan’s movements were fierce and fast—she couldn’t stop in time and crashed straight into Gu Zhiyu.

Gu Zhiyu, retreating in a hurry, hadn’t steadied himself, and was knocked over by An Nan. They both tumbled backward.

Luckily, the sofa was behind them, so no one hit their head.

There was a “crack,” but before An Nan could figure out what the sound was, she felt her lips press against something soft.

She blinked, meeting Gu Zhiyu’s gaze.

At that moment, she was on top of him, and… their lips were touching.

The room fell silent.

The sound of a pounding heartbeat was especially loud.

An Nan instinctively touched her chest.

Wait, that wasn’t her heartbeat—it wasn’t beating that fast.

Fugui, who had missed his target, looked at the two on the sofa in confusion.

What’s going on?

Weren’t they just fighting? How did they suddenly end up hugging and kissing??

The human world is way too complicated!

An Nan froze for a few seconds, then scrambled off Gu Zhiyu, stammering,

“S-sorry, I…”

Damn.

She’d been single since birth and had never taken advantage of a man before!

This situation was way too awkward!

She just wanted to spar, that’s all…

Seeing Gu Zhiyu still lying on the sofa, not getting up, she felt even more embarrassed.

“You… get up already.”

Don’t keep holding that shameful pose!!

Gu Zhiyu gritted his teeth. “I can’t get up.”

An Nan paused, then finally noticed his left arm… was dislocated?!"
